Prototype was the archetype for future games like it. It was soooo good. Especially for its time. I'd throw Mercenaries on there. That game had absurd freedom in a massive open world. Literally just going around calling in helicopters and tanks to take out terrorists.. I want a remake.

@SleepyPoundcake Yep, those were the good old days. Can you imagine a new Bloody Roar game on PS5, Xbox Series X, or an top of the line gaming PC with next-gen specs?! The graphics, lighting/cel-shading and ray tracing of the character models and fighting stages would be surreal. That would be a Day 1 purchase for me. You're absolutely right about Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain. It ended on a cliffhanger and had so much potential to be a game series with multiple entries like Call of Duty, GTA, NFL Madden, Dynasty Warriors, etc. Unfortunately, you're also right about the current state of emergency that gaming is in. I can count on one hand the number of games I've seen remade or remastered over the last few years that captured the essence of the original version and superceded it. Mafia Remastered Definitive Edition, Final Fantasy VII Remake/Rebirth, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil series. That's all I can really think of right now, although I'm sure there are a few others. 🤔🤷🏾😂
@EBrant_3rdАй бұрын
@SleepyPoundcake I agree 💯 with everything you just said. Can you imagine a new Bloody Roar on a next-gen console?! The graphics, including the lighting, cel-shading, ray tracing of the environments as well as the characters and their transformations, would be surreal. Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain really did end on a cliffhanger. It had the potential to be a longstanding series with multiple entries like a Call of Duty, GTA, NFL Madden, Dynasty Warriors, Pokémon, etc. Unfortunately, you're also right about the current state of emergency gaming is in. There's very few developers and publishers I would trust to perfectly capture the essence of the original game and bring something new to the table. The only games/series I can think of that fit the bill are Final Fantasy VII Remake & Rebirth, Dead Space Remake, Resident Evil 1-4, Mafia Remastered Definitive Edition. I'm sure there are a few others, but those are all I can think of at the moment. 😅

even if that's the thing. like wouldn't you prefer to play with Evil Alex than Heller? or any other character? Asura's Wrath, released back in 2012 is truly an underrated gem, it's got some of the most breath-taking real-time cinematics and musical scores that I've ever seen and heard in a video game. It's overreliance on QTE segments may be what turned off a lot of people from it but it was necessary for the insane visuals that this video game has to offer. If you're a fan of Berserk, Fist of the North Star and Dragon Ball, you'll feel right at home with this unforgetable experience.

Alice Madness Returns was an amazing platformer/ hack n slash, and hell, you could actually download the first game as FREE DLC for Madness Returns if you were curious to see where it started. I'll bet EA didn't greenlight it because it didn't leave room for predatory monetization, seeing as EA is obsessively trying to kill single player games since those can't be monetized like multiplayer games can Oh Prototype, definitely one of the best Superhero games ever made IMO, it definitely sits up there with Spider-Man & Batman Arkham, the exploration & combat alone were so much fun Brutal Legend, love that game. I honestly didn't mind the RTS elements, despite going into the game completely blind. Here's hoping Double-Fine gives the game another look after the success of Psychonauts 2

Never played godhand but its actually crazy to see a game that old have so many combat gameplay mechanics that are standard today. Beat em up games from that time period were incredibly clunky usually due to having akward camera controls. Not only does god hand have the modern third person "behind the booty" camera, it dodge mechanics, s, dash attacks all while having immoresively smooth (for the time) animation. Honestly super impressive. Also a friend of mine back in highschool has one of the killzone games. I have never played any of the others, so idk if they were all like this, but it was basically futaristic battlefield. Considering how excited people were for battlefield 2142 and how badly it flopped, seems like a good time foe a sequel lol
