Yep. Prey is one of the few games I've completed twice in the last 10 years, and I actually completed every side quest the second time around. Moon Crash DLC also adds a lot of game for it's price, with a totally different spin.

y, Prey and deus ex mankind divided are two of my favorite games. imsims are the best game genre, but noone plays them 😞. there is a new one that's kinda similar to dishonored with a mix of prey, but it's completely different, i'm talking about fallen aces, the game is still releasing chapters, it has open world lvls and the art style is 3d with 2d? i can't describe it, the ground and walls are 3d, but the chairs and stuff are 2d and rotate with you so it seems like they have more depth but they are still totally 2d

I cannot believe PREY 2017 was a commercial flop?!?! Really?? Never knew that. It’s honestly one of my all time favorite gaming experiences I have ever had. I had so much fun from start to finish exploring every inch of space that they would allow. The physics & the powers you could obtain made the game so fun & tons of secrets! You actually had to use your brain for a few of them too! I loved it. Can’t believe that though

Splinter Cell Blacklist is really good and beautiful. I replayed it last month. In many missions one can play in a stealth way. Not as the old games. But still much better then Conviction. Where you were forced to play aggressively and kill. Which we who love Splinter cell don't wanna do .

Agreed. I think of Conviction as the prototype for shifting SC from slow stealth to avoid hostiles to a faster stealth where you live up to Sam's old call sign of Panther and use stealth to actively hunt your enemies. Makes it a very fun game even though I think that you can still play it old style effectively given the level designs if you choose.

Conviction was such a weird time, was also around the time Hitman Absolution came out. Both changed their series dynamics to the same fast paced kill-em-all gameplay.

I really liked Blacklist, but it's hard to believe the Sam Fisher in Blacklist is the same one from Conviction. Not just the voice actor change either. They're just written like two different people. They should've made the protagonist of Blacklist someone different, since Sam was essentially retired after Conviction and Michael Ironside was done with the series.

Alpha Protocol was one of my first platinum trophies, loved that game. The dialogue system was cool as you had to make your choices in a limited time to resemble a conversation. Still hanging out for another Splinter Cell and Deus Ex lol

1 Thing I loved about Alpha Protocol was the fact that instead of having a new game plus is if you played as a "hard class" (recruit) where you get 0 starting stats if you finished the game and played again you unlocked the veteran class which comes with unique dialogue and the most starting stat points.

The final boss can be like 3 different options/factions depending on your choices, which side are the “bad guys” can completely change on replays of the same level, and you can choose to just walk away from the final conflict. Prey was technically a sequel and became a reboot. Problem with Prey was - it was an immersive sim that came as a reboot to the failed sequel to Prey 2006. Much liked action game - that next to Quake 4 and Doom 3 use the same IDTech engine - I call these 3 games: The Stencil Shadow Trilogy as they all share similar look when it comes to art and lighting. Prey 2017 on the other hand is a spiritual successor to System Shock (or Bioshock if you’re younger). Very different genre - so when 2017 came out it clashed with what people expected from a Prey game.

Because of commercial decisions the developer was forced to use that name, although it refused multiple times, but actually Prey 2017 has nothing to do with the 2006 one. Prey 2006 was so ahead of its time, but also never made it to a big hit. 2017 is an excellent game, no matter where you look. I don't think it failed because of the name. It probably failed because nowadays everyone is into Battle Royale and brainless games. So if you cannot troll others, if you cannot feel like Tom Cruise in the game or if a little bit of logic and thinking or reading is required, then it won't be a hit. Most probably people who play mainstream games now, and don't play nor recognize excellent games such as Prey, Bioshock, Dishonored, Deus Ex, Alien Isolation (and many others), have no idea of what Prey 2006 is :)

It's pretty funny the game was originally meant to be called "Psychoshock". Kind of ironic because System Shock never got a 3rd game just like how Prey never got a true sequel. It feels as if even Arlane couldn't decide what were they trying to classify this game as.

I played Deus Ex late. Read all the glowing reviews. Was super disappointed. Never even finished it. The stealth is from like 2001. I gave up when I hid in one spot, shot one person, and just waited for everybody to forget I was there. Rinse and repeat. Pretty boring.

@@PeopleRTheProblem There's much more than that in the game. Maybe you played it on "easy" or "medium". The hard settings are not piece of cake at all. There are a lot of secrets, hidden things, multiple paths and ways to resolve situations. Many decisions that you take and impact on the development of the game. It's probably not the deepest shooter, not deepest stealth game, not the deepest rpg, but it has all of these aspects and more. Of course it has tedious things, and I would have preferred deeper systems. But it's not a bad game at all, and futuristic Prague is just beautiful!

@@DiegoSynth it’s not a good game either. I played on the hardest setting available at the start. The same tactics work. Shoot someone…wait until they forget. Nothing feels like it has any weight. A refrigerator has the same mass as a plastic trash can. Sure there are a few different ways a to move around…but it’s always the same. Hack a terminal. Or get in a vent that only goes to the next room. Or punch through a wall that somehow doesn’t alert anyone. It’s the epitome of mediocre. I don’t see anything that even comes close to what the positive reviews claim is there

@@DiegoSynth cyberpunk is a way better Deus ex. Hit man has better combat and stealth. It boggles my mind to constantly hear and read about how amazing this game is when there’s not a single thing that amazed me outside of 2005 stealth mechanics. The abilities are so lack luster. The story is by the numbers, and that gravely over the top voice make me laugh during moments that are supposed to be dramatic and suspenseful.

11 years since Blacklist released and I have not encountered better enemy AI in any of the stealth games that came after it. Enemies feel so believably human if you catch my meaning; they do things like panicking if their friend who checked your distraction never returned, or having a "hunch" about your position behind cover and thus cant be taken by surprise with your takedown. Speaking of which, the animation is super smooth and definitely ages very well.

I loved everything about SC Blacklist. Ironside was replaced because they already developed Mo-Cap technology with voice acting side by side called Performance Capture. So they went with a younger actor instead who can do both action and be the voice of Sam Fisher. Of course, its not the same without Ironside, but the game itself was brilliant!

Godfall could very well be on that list. Fantastic/addicting gameplay with good graphics. The game flopped at launch, being a buggy and glitchy mess. Devs also put the 60 dollar pricetag on it (which is too much for this game). Nowadays, with more content than launch, smooth af gameplay and a price of 5-7 dollars (not from Steam, other sites) the game is definitely worth anyone's time, imo.

i dont know why u guys consider splinter cell blacklist is not exactly stealth but more combat if u want to experince complete stealth in blacklist u just have to play in perfectionist difficulty which is the highest dificulty in splinter cell blaclist and if the enimes even get a glimpse of u they will start shooting and suround u from every direction and i use more stealth armor sets then combat or defense type armor sets and u can't use dead eye which is used to mark 3 players and kill them in the game is removed or desabled in perfectionist difficulty and by far i played all splinter cell game and in my pinion blacklist is a good stealth game after conviction which was a stealth masterpiece due to it's lack of armor sets or basically everything it was the most stealth oriented game ever ty.

Alien Isolation can use your controller mic and PS Camera so the alien will react directly to you and your real-world stealth. That's pretty cool, really. Titanfall 2 is the only game I've ever found at Dollarama. For $4 and they had so many copies, jammed in with their bad knockoff Disney movies and sudoku books.

Regarding blacklist, its not the first game that leaned towards action, it actually started with Conviction, blacklist tried to return to the core and incorporate what was good about conviction, the problem was, it came out during the last gen console lifespan and unfortunate release time

The biggest problem with Splinter Cell: Blacklist was the awful ending; SIX cinematics in a row, followed by a tedious quick time boss fight. Out of the list, I played Alpha Protocol, Alien Isolation, Spec Ops: The Line, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Prey and Deus Ex Mankind Divided. I despised Spec Ops the line, for all the reasons that other people seem to love it. For a game that offers you actual moral choices that you have to live with, I recommend "This War of Mine".

Nice list! 6/10 are in my backlog already, 2 already beaten, and the only ones I don't own are Splinter Cell: Blacklist and Immortals of Aveum. Another great game that flopped was Overload. Basically Descent 4 in everything but name, made by the original Descent devs.

Loved Alpha Protocol. Yes it was buggy, but there’s no other game quite like AP. Jade Empire is another terrific game that was made for original Xbox, but criminally overlooked. The game just didn’t have a huge audience. Wish remakes/remasters were in the works for both of these treasures.

Played a bit of Alpha Protocol back in the day. Pretty interesting stuff. It's actually recently come to GOG, if anyone's interested. I really wanted to play Sunset Overdrive (and it's predecessor that I forgot the name to, where you play as a bald dude who can control electricity), but, as mentioned, it's a console-exclusive, so no play for me. Was pleasantly surprised by Spec Ops: The Line. I genuinely thought it'd be just another military shooter about gun-ho 'Murica saving the world from peasant militias in the middle east, but it was actually so, so, so much more! Immortals of Aveum I've only heard of a couple of times prior to its release, and that was mostly by accident. Wasn't even aware that it came out, so I'm pretty sure we can blame its flop on the bad marketing more than anything. Now compare Prey (2017) to Prey (2006).

All of them are excellent games in their own right. Titanfall 2 is the tightest FPS I have played in a long time. The freedom of movement was ground-breaking.

In my personnel life and opinion the best example, it was "Shadow of Rome" from Capcom. One of the best games that I ever played. A lot of gamers didn't knew it.

I played Spec Op The line and Splinter cell blacklist when they were released and I loved them. Performance was way better even with low PC configuration. About Immortals of Aveum, I tried playing it and loved the game play, however recommended graphic requirement is too high and perform very poorly on minimum requirements.

I feel like your thoughts on Blacklist were a bit too shallow to really describe its merits. For starters, despite popular belief, Blacklist only contains maybe 1 more forced action segment than the original Sinter Cell game, which also forced you into action at times (which people conveniently forget). Not only that but Blacklist brought back a LOT of things from the legacy games, as well as other improvements to really reward stealth purists. Perfectionist difficulty, lethal and non-lethal melee options, hiding bodies and the sticky shocker to just name a few. Conviction, for all its merits was heavily focused on aggressive stealth, it was about hitting your enemies hard and fast, less subtlty, less slow and methodical action. If you didn't play Hunter mode in Conviction, you missed arguably the best version of that style of Splinter Cell. But Blacklist is a better "Splinter Cell" game by a lot. Anyway, not talking shit, I'm glad you included it to begin with. Great video.
