In the US, the "cured beef" you refer to in the last dish, is called "corned beef". It's commonly available both fresh and canned.

Looks good I usually buy a pre-made chicken ceasear salad or more traditional with iceberg with tomatoes, and cucumber, onions and cheddar.I also like a good baked potato with sour cream . Some interesting variations I will have to try.🙂

Lots of good ideas here! Growing up, we never had an Italian style vegetable salad like I so enjoy. Mother made cucumber salad, as you describe. Mother would take a head of lettice, cut it into serving size wedges, which were finished with her home made dressing. 60 years ago, on my trip up the Rhine Valley, I had the same salad in some restaurant. The menu called it "Kopf Salat". Our garden always included a row of leaf lettice. Mother would pick a kettle full. Then she would dice some bacon, fry it crisp, and add cider vinegar and a little sugar to the warm fat. This mixture was poured over the lettice "wilting" it. This "wilted lettice" was served as a vegetabe, along with potatoes and meat. We had other salads as well, like "Waldorf", but not particularly German. Fond memories!

My doctor in Germany recommended eating potatoes with quark as a diet dish. If that is diet, I'm completely happy. We don't have Quark in the US so I use Greek yogurt. I also love that Buntesalat with grated marinated vegetables all around. I love your channel--people have no idea how amazing German food is.

William, I don't know what continent you are fishing on, but here in Massachusetts, USA, the only carp that will take your bait are very large, and the fish itself is very bony and oily, with a strong fish taste. Not very edible but European carp may be different story.

🤍👋Hi CtW , when I stayed at a Bed and Breakfast recently in San Luis Obispo CA, they served their Breakfast plate withe a Salad ! I asked about where that came from , and the Manager who designed the Breakfasts ( always withe a Salad on the side ) , “ Is A German thing ‘ “ . The original owners back in the turn of the 1900s of the Victorian House Hotel were German . I eat Salad all the x . Thank You I often wondered about that Cucumber Salad . I want to try that Green sauce too , looks like Green Goddess Salad Dressing 💛⚪️
