Longtime Doberman owner here. Beautiful dog, and I can tell you really care about him. I love running with my Dobes too but I always ease them into it. I’d be really careful about runs at his age, especially on pavement. He’s still growing so 10 miles is way too long (that’s why he needed a lot of pit stops) Dobes will do anything for their owners including gutting out a hard run even though they're tired and sore. If you want to be safe and avoid injury, until he’s a yr and half, I’d keep it to a mile or 2 here and there, on dirt or grass, and without a bike. As he ages gradually up it. Hope you take this the right way, just looking out for a fellow Dobe owner

hey there my dobbie is 8 months old male, what would you suggest is the maxium speed & time he should run every day as exersice ? I bike with him to the dog park its 1 km away, so 2km a day and then i do another km round in the night, am doing to much for his bones ?

@@overcheats4518 I’d drive or walk him to the park….and then let him run/play there until he’s wiped out….it’s rough to wait, trust me I know……but their growth plates don’t close until around 18 months….with a Doberman it’s best to not have “forced” exercise i.e. distance running or biking…. until they’re at least 18mo. Free play, free run in a yard or park on grass/soft surface is best. My Dobes have all loved playing fetch/ball, that’s a great way to burn off the energy without risking injury/ problems when they’re older. Hope this helps!

How old is your boy? It would be wise to limit physical exercise as growth plates are not fully closed until approx. 18 months of age.

He's 11 months. This is not a regular exercise, its occasional. If you follow our journey and analyse thoroughly you'll see I do keep limits 👌🏾

@@kamzadventures5938 He is 2 years old, a beautiful Doberman. I tried long leash with chicken breast, when I call his name if he comes to me I ll give him a small piece. It went well at first, but after a few tries, he start to get further and further in distance. eventually he ran really far away... and would NOT respond to his name at al, just went on to sniff and go about his own business :( I am pondering if I should incorporate E-collar?

@@hannaho888 sounds like you was off to a good start but problem is, you wasn’t consistent and patient. E-collar is a brilliant tool but don’t jump the gun yet until you’ve established some grounds. E-collar should only be used to ASSIST, it’s not designed to “fix what’s missing.” Doberman is a breed which requires strong leadership. If you can’t show your calmness and persistence when teaching, he will do his own thing thinking “he knows best.” Understand that unless he’s neutered, his still quite young therefore you have to be calm and keep trying. Maybe find an enclosed place where he can’t run off. Keep him on the long line for a longer period of time and don’t ALWAYS treat every time he comes back. Make him work for it. First time he succeeds maybe treat. Then don’t give again until maybe 5th or 6th success. Take it easy and be patient. This breed is highly intelligent so we can’t blame them for not listening. That’s usually an error on the human side

@@tuxthedoberman8622 thank you so much for your reply! I will presist and be more patient. My dobie is actually more on the "lazier" side. I have to "pull" he do bike or jog with me.. unless someone else is biking with us, because he likes to chase. But my trainer said it's not go to develop his already HIGH prey drive. So I just go slow jog or bike with him. I need to do more training with him that's for sure, he learns real fast! Hopefully with age and my patience his recall will become better :) Again, thank you for your reply, I really appreciate it!

I’m not too sure. Every dog is different. You have to go off what the individual can handle. But be careful not to put too much pressure on them especially whilst they’re young. Can cause problems later on

Id agree 10 miles is a mega distance for a pup of his age my girls not much younger then him and theres no way she would be doing half that distance the other thing I'd be mega dubious about is that you have started agitation work with him and then have him running free with no lead just remember that if he bites any one you dont have a legal leg to stand on as you've already started bite work with him even once is enough to have him destroyed as responsible dog owners we should think of their lifes in our hands and safety to the public

Not great. Super irresponsible, you are relying on his natural intelligence and athleticism more than training it into him. The harness is pointless and overkill. Again, this wouldn’t have worked with 90% other breeds, accident in the making.
