The 10M views requirement is crazy no matter how you put it but I still think the best way for a new creator to start is through shorts which in my experience, is the best way to get people to discover your channel and subscribe however, if you are looking to switch to long form content(which is my goal), it's not going to be easy to get those subs from shorts to watch your long form videos but, it will still be better than having no one to watch your videos.

The big thing is that it takes time to succeed. 10 million views in 90 days doesn't mean they are only counting the shorts made in that 90 day period. If you've been making shorts already and keep making shorts going forward, those shorts will also be getting views in any given 90 day period. Starting from zero and expecting monetization in the first 90 days is unrealistic with either approach. A goal of 1 year is more realistic.

Since the news of the monetization for KZbin came out I didn't hesitate to start with shorts, in less than a week I went from a few shorts to 2000/4000 views to 100k views in the first hour of publication. pls put this comment in a video to encourage everyone

But you're not a small channel. You have 17k subscribers, you've been in the game. It's smaller youtubers who have to try and get those type of views in day with one or possibly 3 shorts. Don't get me wrong, I get what you're saying and the motivation of it, but Dan was addressing the smaller creators who are starting out who still need to be put out there for people to even bother watching their shorts to the point where they can make 10m views in 90 days. It's daunting for smaller creators.

@@KingBasieSims4 my channel had 50 to 100 sub after 6 months of posting. Then all of a sudden it spiked up to over 100k views on videos that were stuck on 100 views for months. If your content is good and niched properly. It will get views a few days of posting or several months after. once the algorithm finds you the right audience you should start growing. Dont be discouraged and keep posting. 🙂

For me though I don't plan on the shorts view since I do long form videos for the sims 4 even though my channel is currently on pause for other reasons. Just saying it can hard for smaller channels starting out. Personally I'm not even pressed about monotization right now especially since in a few weeks my views will reset. 10M views is not realistic for 99.999% of us but shorts videos do give you additional exposure, help draw in additional subscribers that may not have known you existed and helps keep your channel relevant because you are posting more often. Shorts are easier to make than a 10-20 minute video so it's a great opportunity to expand your channel.

Try to do long and shorts trust me. I did 300 shorts and got 1.2k subs in 12months then started doing normal videos and now I'm at 60k in 2 months since switching. Now my shorts get 100k views easy. Before I would be lucky to get 1k views on a shorts. It taught me that I should if just did normal videos first then shorts

We are a bunch of travel filmmakers from India. This 10M target in 90 days sounds really absurd for a channel like ours. We feel that this is KZbin's attempt to further push for short format Viral content. For a travel channel like ours its impossible to make shorts that can go viral. Maybe yes if wer a big channel but as small channel, its literally impossible. And lets not forget that our focus is long format. We cannot afford spending time on creative brainstorms for short form content everyday. And, sorry if we sound politically incorrect here, there are a lot of click-baity, audience tricking shorts that are designed to go viral. These aren't creative in any way. They are just engineered for multiple reruns. Its so disappointing to see this. KZbin is supposed to be a place where creativity thrives. Sorry about the rant 😬😬😬😬😬

Yeah, but without the creators their platform would go bankrupt immediately. Yt doesn't work only with Yt members. It needs the creators as much as they need Yt. The problem is the monopoly position. Hope in the future there are going to be more alternatives (like a Tik Tok partner program), so this one gets off the high horse and starts to want to please the creators. Besides, Yt does polls for creators where it asks them how to improve. If they want your opinion, they should listen to it. Otherwise what's the point? That being said, the annoying circumstances of Yt currently won't stop me from creating. But it is also not the right thing to just say "Well.. it is what it is. Lets just accept it". Cause that sends the wrong message to Yt. When people want change, people need to say it and make pressure. This principle goes for everything in life.

The way I understand it, there won’t be an individual CPM per channel on the short ad payments. It’s just ONE GIANT SHORTS AD BUCKET. Then 45% of that is allocated to creators. And you and I get paid out of that based on how many views we have on shorts. Super simple. Make more shorts (or get more shorts views) and you get a bigger slice of that pie, but there’s only one giant pie for the entire world worth of shorts creators. Same “CPM” as everyone else on shorts, since ads are run in the shorts player in between videos and not attached to any particular video like they are on long form videos. I think it’ll be great. We’ll see though :) only downside I can see to that lump system is no targeted ads, so maybe less effective for advertisers, and maybe less pay because of it. Or maybe it’s so competitive for ad space that they pay a lot for that space (like a super bowl commercial). We’ll see how that part plays out too!

It's a shame that Shorts watch time doesn't count toward Partner Program Watch Hours, but I have to admit that since I started adding more shorts to the channel, I've seen a huge spike in views and even subscribers. Granted I'm at the very bottom looking up, but success for my channel isn't some unobtainable goal, it's coming closer and closer into view. Not every shorts gets a positive reaction, but as long as people are watching, liking/disliking commenting it all ads up to KZbin pushing it more people that might find my ridiculous brand of content appealing.

I can have adsense active on ANY of my websites with no real gate keeping and earn money from that, yet my KZbin content which is pulling in 3/4000 views A DAY can't be used to generate income for me. . . my shorts have been a massive part of my channel growth this month, more than doubling my subscribers, but when i saw that 10M/90d my heart sank. It's not feasible for someone whos working a niche to obtain those levels. Maybe a one off Short may run off to a million views but it's so astronomically unobtainable for the smaller creators they may as well have not bothered 😕

It's not crazy, I've got 5 million views and 4k subs in one month.! Started taking my channel seriously around 8 months ago and it's all gone crazy in the last 5 weeks or so. In 8 months I've gone from 70 subs to to nearly 5500! Most of that in the last 4-5 weeks. All it takes is one video to go viral then loads of others go crazy too. Just sharing my personal experience: I’m a small gaming KZbinr and I’ve just started posting videos and using my channel for videos, Live, and now Shorts and my very first short got 31k views on my Dragon Ball, then I kept on posting shorts of my gaming content and more ideas that just came to me. Some videos are really going to flop, some are gonna be good, and maybe one or some viral! Simple answer for small channels to get 10 mil views in 90 days is this say you on average get 2500 views per short you would need to upload 45 shorts per day each day for the 90 days to get tot he 10 mil views so in other words small channels do not need to apply.

I thought it was impossible but then I got a viral short and I think I might be able to hit that but all those views will go to waste because the policy is not active yet. I won't be able to do that again anytime soon. Just my luck.

I had 1 go viral for me and that was 55k views. My best one ever, but has since died completely. I'm just pretending they never announced that and then hey look it's still only 4k watch hours. The exact same and I don't have to worry about shorts

I know channels with 100s of thousands of subscribers that don’t even have 10 million views. It’s absolutely absurd for small creators. Just just wish small creators had it as easy as big creators.

On top of all that they have to maintain the success and position their in. So no one is just coasting on by. Wherever you're at its going to take work

@@splendytactics you may have to delete and not just unlist. Test out different times. My best was early Saturday morning, about 8 am. Sunday wasn't great. Week days I go for 6-7pm but still nothing major. Although, it is still random. My best short was most viewed in India, a country which I had a very small viewership from. I think it is really random. Nb. Unlist the original short, then upload it again and use the option to copy details from previous video re title and description. After that new upload is done, delete the previous short you are replacing.

This strikes me as KZbin trying to quell shorts being produced for new channel creators because I think it’s difficult to run ads on shorts especially the fifteen second ones and why KZbin have put this well frankly, lunatic number in place. I managed to go from 60 subscribers to 1302 in about six weeks purely from shorts. So even though I got the subs I don’t have a snowball in hells chance of 10m views in 90 days. I think this is yet another ploy by KZbin to ensure only the top creators get the exposure to viewers and bugger the small fish like me!
