My son, a Texan, lived in the Tacoma, WA area for work, for about 3 years. I went to visit him and his wife while he was there. We were leaving a Starbucks by the Seattle fish market and my son held the door open for the people coming out behind us. They were shocked by this simple act of kindness and said "Wow, you aren't from here are you?" To which my son said, "no, we're from Texas."

The Republic of Texas used to maintain an embassy with Britain (and maybe France too I think) -- there was a restaurant in London called 'The Texan Embassy' that was actually a ways down the street from where the actual embassy once stood. It had... passable Tex-Mex food, for Europe, from what I can recall.

The reason Texas has more tornadoes than any other state is because Texas has more land than any other state in the Lower 49. Texas "blows the #2 state Kansas out of the water" because Texas has more than 3 times as much land as Kansas. If you figure tornadoes per square mile, Texas is probably not even in the top 5. Also, your population estimate of Texas is about 11 million off and throws your figures of obesity way off. Texas has about 29 million people, not 18 million. So if 12 million of 29 million are overweight, that is less than 50% overweight, not 65% as you claim.
@margietucker17193 жыл бұрын
Agree...I see some overweight people for sure, but not 65%! Definitely way less than half...

5. "...you could fit Switzerland, Belgium, Austria, Liechtenstein, Denmark, and Luxembourg into Texas and almost have room for the Netherlands." You mixed up square kilometers and square miles. Those six countries together are about 244,000 sq. km. Texas is almost 700,000 sq. km - about 270,000 sq. miles. In fact, you could add the Netherlands - AND still have room for Norway.

There are so many misconceptions and lies about Texas. No native Texans say "yeehaw" or "everything is bigger in Texas". Foreigners say things like that. I wish they would all quit moving here and diluting our culture and manners. I fear they are bringing their politics with them from states that have already been ruined by those policies.
