OK, normally I have a mind that goes right to the gutter, but I'm stumped on what "Roman S******" meaning something that's in poor taste could be. Roman statues, because they're nude?

As a loyal friend and true fan of The Price is Right since 1995, I'm hopeful that some of these skipped episodes can resurface; especially with the Barker Era channel coming to light! I've been enjoying watching the episodes that haven't been seen in decades! It's a part of Americana and everyone who loves the show treasures it well! Thank God for The Price is Right!

It isn't during the Barker era, but there is an episode of Price is Right from Drew's era that has only aired once and will probably never air again. The episode has been mentioned on Game Show Garbage as well. On a 2008 episode, a contestant named Joseph was called down. Had he not done what I'm about to mention, it would have been an everyday episode, but here is where the problems start. One bid #1, treadmill, Joseph bids $420. One bid #2, a banjo, Joseph bids $777. One bid #3, a range, Joseph bids $1869, everyone overbid, Joseph bids $769. One bid #4, a kitchen island, another contestant bid $1869, more than likely to stick it to Joseph. In retaliation, Joseph bids TWO MILLION DOLLARS! Normally, Drew would ask the contestant to bid less than ten grand, but even he is sick of the guy, so he says, "You want it, you got it." One bid #5, a watch, Joseph bids $969. At this point, it is rumored that the staff told him to knock his crap off, and with one game left, who knows what'll happen. One bid #6, a gem globe, Joseph's bid...$1868. According to some insiders, probably current and former staff, there is a huge "NOT FOR RERUNS" sticker on the tape.

5512D is floating around... there is an unlisted posting on YT somewhere. 2944D is another very fun one to discuss... it's a 1978 half-hour episode, recorded in case some other programming didn't fill the full timeslot. I think it might have been for the Pillsbury Bake-Off or something. 2944D never aired and nothing aside from the 3 games in the lineup ever surfaced. (The order of the 3 is also uncertain due to the show's procedures for recording the game rotation at the time.)

The Price is RIght the Barker Era is also on, The Roku channel as well. with not the same episodes airing simultaneously as Pluto. Roku channel actually has less skipping if no skipping issues during of video and audio verses often skipping on the Pluto version of the channel.

While I realize this isn't your call, couldn't someone put a disclaimer at the beginning of the clips with fur coats explaining this was before animal protection was as big as it is now?

They likely could, but it won't happen at *least* until Bob dies, and probably never, as it is his love of animals that is the reason furs are banned.

@a.grimes4202

That would have been December 12, 1978 OAD if I remember right, meaning it is from season 7, which is currently embargoed from airing due to the furs as prizes being more prevalent than ever in that season. It’s likely why we will sadly never get to see the episode OAD January 2, 1979 (first episode of ’79, too...), which featured the return of the commercial break after the Showcase and bids on them and before the results were read by Bob. It is quite sad and unfortunate that CBS hasn’t seen fit to lift the embargo since Bob is no longer with us, sadly. Could be they just want to honor his legacy as an animal rights activist.

Interesting compilation. For the last one, I assume: 1. Because it was so early in the show's run, they hadn't come up yet with the disclaimer they would eventually use when contestants were found to be ineligible. 2. Even if they had the disclaimer, they were pretty much forced to scrap the episode if it was because the contestant was the wife of a CBS employee, The show had just premiered and was adjacent to The Joker's Wild, hosted by one of the big perpetrators of the 50s quiz show scandal, Jack Barry. I'm sure they wanted to avoid any appearance of inpropriety.

I would also assume they scrubbed it due to the prize offered in the second pricing game, Bonus Game - a fur coat.

I have a personal one....from 1996 and it aired/was rerun just before a prime time special. It was notable to me for one contestant that I found hilarious....his name was Joseph and he totally whiffed on Ten Chances and fell spinning the wheel. He also almost bid $6 on something before winning his way on stage.
