Yeah, I got into a really hardcore PvP company (which I didn't realize at the time; I just joined because I liked the name), and I was literally neglecting my health just to barely keep up. They all constantly fought amongst each other about how other people wanted to play, and it was the most stressful experience I've had with a game ever. I left that company, and I'm having sooo much more fun rolling solo and playing at my own speed, and focusing on leveling, pvp, crafting, etc when I actually feel like it. And eating and sleeping again is nice too.

Your last tip is the best and by far the most important. I’m in a few different friends’ discord’s whose companies I’m considering joining. The issue is they’re all full of try hards who are talking about food prepping, having empty bottles to piss in so they don’t go afk and have mapped out iron farming runs for each of the starting areas. One thing I learned over decades of gaming, is to have fun. Play how you want. If you're not having fun, you won't play. MMO's are an escape and meant to be enjoyed over a long period of time. If you enjoy hitting the CAP super fast, then do it. If you want to run with heavy armor and a fire staff/gauntlet, do it. Best Axe crafter in the realm, great. Pine is 100% correct; play what makes the game fun for you. My Companies top rule is to have fun, because I want the members to keep playing and support each other. I want joking and laughing in the Discord, not stress and anger. Have fun, it's a game.

I absolutely agree that you should upgrade your tools asap, however in the video you state that the ability to craft steel tools may or may not be possible depending on your server but this is actually available on ALL servers since the outpost in the western section of Great Cleave has, by default, a tier 3 workshop that will allow anyone to craft steel tools on any server, at any time, as soon as you are able to smelt steel. There is no need to wait until a territory is claimed and the workshop in that main city is upgraded to tier 3. Once you can smelt steel ingots, gather up a good amount and run up to Great Cleave and craft a few sets of steel tools (one set to use, and a few to sell on the market). It will require 42 Steel ingots plus a few other materials to craft a full set of steel axe, pickaxe, skinning knife, and sickle.

Great information in this comment. I was aware of the outpost having t3 stations but since the focus of the video was mistakes to avoid as a beginner, I didn’t want to send someone on a crazy mission to Great Cleave. This is a great tip for early game progression and a HUGE money maker as well.

@@PinefromNewWorld the trip to great cleave at very low level is a test... kinda like the old "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball" from the dodgeball movie... it's New World rite of passage for those wanting a bit of a challenge :-P If you can avoid being killed, untold riches await.

Your last tip meant the most to me. Games like this one make it really easy to forget that you’re supposed to be having fun. BDO is a great game, but the content requires you to grind so much that people tend to forget that they should probably stop what they are doing if they aren’t enjoying themselves. It also resulted in a lot of prideful solo players who would bring an elitist attitude to the chat. I get that they worked hard, but I’m just trying to have fun. No amount of hard work gives you the right to look down on others who are just trying to be a part of the community.

I really liked the emphasis on just enjoying the game, too many people take games seriously and want to be the best at it. In the end think about it...that game isn't worth your life, the point of playing it is too enjoy it and have fun and meet people that also want to have fun. Don't go burning yourself out tryharding the game or you'll find yourself either hating it or you'll become toxic (league players know what I mean). Take it slow, go through the game at your own pace, there is no best because in the end there is just you and how much you want to enjoy the game.
