I kinda wish we could've gotten Anderson Silva vs. Chris Weidman 3 to get some kind of closure on that story. Also, Jason doesn't get nearly enough love from the MMAOP community. Dude does great work!
@madgavin75682 жыл бұрын
The thing is whoever won the third fight the narrative of their rivalry would be dominated by whoever won it. If Anderson won, the narrative would have been was that Anderson was always the better fighter and Chris just got two lucky fluke wins. Meanwhile if Chris won the narrative will be that he just had Anderson's number. The former especially since Anderson has a huge number of fans, many of whom are still to this day whinging and circle jerking about the Weidman fights saying Chris got lucky. While Weidman doesn't have very many fans at all, who won't be able to defend him or his legacy from the horde of Silva fans tearing it down.
@cleech742 жыл бұрын
How cool would it to see both of them blasting each other with their new titanium bionic leg? Jk, but it is one of the more bizarre mma anecdotes. Anderson’s was crazy because it was a rematch, and the consensus of the fluke ko because he was clowning around. I still remember the horror of seeing that replay. Fast forward how many years, and Weidman (a universally-liked good guy) has it happen on the first leg kick of his fight vs Uriah Hall. Equally nice, softer spoken fighter Hall, picks up his second brutal, possibly career ending finish, as in a TUF bout, he was responsible for the spinning head kick ko, which Dana dubbed, “the most viscous ko he’d ever seen.” That had to be difficult for Hall to deal with afterwards. Most fighters, savage as they can be during a fight, usually don’t want to see their opponents badly injured, as both incidents were for Hall. That’s gotta weigh on his conscience. Crazy sport.

With Stipe bulking I would love to see him face Ngannou for a third time to see how that favors for him, the first fight he was 246 and he did so well wrestling but I think that’s mostly because Ngannou didn’t have the wrestling defense he has now

Thankfully, Iggy vs. Moreno has shaped up to be something close to the in-fight drama/momentum swings, and MMA depth of Chandler/Alvarez. I'd STILL pay to see a 40-y-o Iron Michael fight the 40-y-o Underground King. * I thought for sure that Shogun vs. Hendo would make the list regardless of the fact Hendo is up 2-0. Much like Lawler/MacDonald, Hendo vs. Rua was Extremely competitive. Amazing series of rivalry fights. I would definitely have replaced it with DJ vs. Cejudo, assuming this list is the *Top* "Ten MMA trilogy fights we'll never see"... considering the high-profile fighters and overall quality of the actual series of fights listed.
