Joestar Yu-gi it was a leg kick buddy, you should maybe rewatch the fight. At 2:48 O’Malley is in southpaw with his right foot planted, at 2:52 Cheeto lands a leg kick O’Malley immediately switches stance and all of a sudden can’t plant his right foot

The way O'Malley has handled the loss is considerably more damaging than the loss itself. He's reminding me of Luke rockhold, he needs to just take the loss and move on.

I'm very selective in which MMA fighters I follow, I think Poirier was the first I commited to following from a loss way back when, I was already a fan but his 'be grateful/ be graceful' speech was truly a powerful moment in my life. It's not just how you fight, it's how you carry yourself as a human being, we are ALL fallable, we can ALL make mistakes, we can ALL be bettered by someone else on a given day. True inspiration, true champions, show us how to get back up on our feet and even then sometimes it just does not work out, a warrior does not ignore that noise but try to challenge it. Though not a practitioner myself, martials arts, to me, has always been about respect, in victory and defeat. Just stepping in the cage commands respect. I get maintaining an ego while an active fighter, I totally get it, but in the years to come, if humility does not show itself, I just cannot respect lofty accomplishments.

The difference is, we could see her foot bloated during the fight and she still had it like that during the interview. And she took the loss a lot better after losing a razor close decision than the one time she got KO'd. Her head being a ballewn probably helped to set her straight. Who knows? Maybe doctors start prescribing Weili punches to the head to set someone straight.

I’d say that Sean was right in saying he did nothing wrong. What happened to him genuinely was a freak accident that you can’t train for or work to keep from happening. If it happens, it happens, there’s really nothing you can do about it. Obviously every fighter tries to keep leg kicks from landing because they don’t want damage building up over the fight, but no fighter expects a single kick to instantly disable their leg. If they did and that was something that was a regular occurrence, mma would look completely different. Telling him to change how he fights to keep that from happening again would actually detrimental to him because the only way he could eliminate the possibility of that ever happening again would be to become obsessively protective of his legs like taking a single hit could end the fight. That wouldn’t be effective because in 99.999% of cases, a single leg kick won’t end a fight. If he fought like that, being overprotective of his legs, he would have to give up on ever trading for a better hit or takedown because he might often have to weather a leg kick to get that trade. I think anyone who fights or knows anything about this sport can agree that would be detrimental to him or any other fighter.
