Wakame is one of my favorite seaweeds. I love how it goes from its compact dried form to unfurl into big strips of leaf -- reminds me a little of watching China Gunpowder green tea steep. Wakame is super healthy when it's not prepared with lots of salt, but too much of it can overload one on iodine and mess with thyroid function. Still, it's one of the tastiest seaweeds and I love its texture in soups! I'd really enjoy that wakame cup.

Isn't it true that only Japanese and certain other cultures can digest it properly because they need the specific enzymes to digest it
@melissadunton35342 жыл бұрын
@@chicka-boom7540 hmm, I’ve never heard is this happening. But it does make a bit of sense. I absolutely love Wakame in my miso soup, but I can’t eat as much of it as I’d like to as it’s hard on my digestive system. I know this, because I have Crohn’s disease with complications of short bowel syndrome and have to watch my diet and nutritional intake. Wakame is one of the foods that I have to eat sparingly. Same goes for dairy products, raw and/or lightly steamed veggies and more fibrous foods…like apples and corn. I do eat a lot of rice based foods tho…so I tend to naturally gravitate to Asian inspired meals. I’m going to have to do some research on this topic of Wakame being hard for some to digest. Thanks for your comment!!!! 😊

Just rewatching some of your convenience store foods videos and I have to say that the Wakame soup bowl looks so good. 😋 It’s my favorite kelp/seaweed, I like it even more than Nori! When I make miso soup I put double the Wakame, compared to the amount ppl typically use. I also double up the tofu…and prefer silken tofu to a more firm curd. Anyway, thanks again for always sharing your adventures in food and entertaining eats!!! Much love to you and your loved ones. ✌🏻💕😊

Didn't know i need ZomRamen in my life! Also i think the reason they add the bread to Miso soup is to make you a bit more full rather than after eating a normal soup with no bread. I've actually heard old british people added bread to their poor man's soup; I've also tried it too and i couldn't even finish the entire pot like normally i do. But with that amount & size of bread ball? Kinda ridiculous, i also think those are just an edible decoration
