Saints row became trash once they tried to create their own identity, thats why they flop, i had no problem with it being a gta clone, but after the first one, it jus became a silly mess that i had ZERO interest in, the newest one is just cringy, I turned it off 10mins in, (played for free with ps plus, I would never pay for a saints row title until they try to get more serious)

Played a LOT of diddy kong racing. Solid game with plenty of depth and replayability. Inclusion of hovercraft and prop planes racing alongside karts is unique and well-balanced. It was indeed challenging. A true gem of a game.

There's rip-offs that suck, rip-offs that do just as good a job as the game they copy, and then there's rip-offs that perfect the genre, like Symphony of the Night. There's a reason ppl call em Metroidvanias and not Super Metroid style games. SOTN is too good, go back and read old PlayStation magazines, you'll see that the writers' favorite games almost always included SOTN, if not being their #1 of all time.

Hey Jules, Dino Crisis is NOT a rip-off of Resident Evil! It was made by Shinji Mikami, who worked on the original Resident Evil! Dino Crisis was seen as a spiritual successor to Resident Evil so stop lying and saying that it is a rip-off. A rip-off is something like one of the MANY Minecraft rip-offs! Whoa, hey there buddy let's cool it down a notch. No one's lying about things, this is just an interpretation of borrowing heavily from another game. You can quibble over the term rip-off, And how it's being used here, but it seems like the definition that they're running with here is not a negative definition. What they're saying, is that there are many good games that heavily heavily heavily borrowed from other good games. Dino Crisis, did in fact, use a tremendous amount of ideas from Resident Evil. Now regardless of the intent of the direction of the game, that's still a fact. There's no arguing that. And companies can still rip themselves off by recycling ideas. You can see this happen in the music industry a lot, where an artist or band will make a song that sounds way too similar to a previous song that they've done. It happens. It doesn't necessarily mean it's good or bad, but it does happen. So take a breath, be cool, and understand what this list is trying to say instead of calling people a liar. It's much better to be cool than being insulting. Trust me, it's just a list, it's going to be okay.

For me it's the opposite. I dislike GTA, and I also disliked Saints Row 1 and 2 - but I found Saints Row 3 to be one of the best open world shooters I ever played. SR4, unfortunately, was one step forward, two back; still a good game, but can't hold a candle for SR3.

Even now , I'm still unsure of what SR is actually meant to be. The first 2 are like some gangster thingy then it turns into some bizarre alien/superpower/ comedy thing. Then more weirdness in hell, and that god awful re boot they just released. Did I really miss something special back in the day or is the whole thing just over rated?

​@@Nafe_x Everyone has preferences. I can't stand games where you play as a criminal and are supposed to take the story even half seriously; thus I can't stand GTA, and I couldn't stand SR 1 & 2. SR3, though, is not meant to be taken seriously at all. I mean, the first few minutes already make that abundantly clear. Thus why I can enjoy it, and in fact I find it great. SR4, for me, went too far. The story of SR3 is crazy, but anchored; that of SR4 is all over the place. Also, the superpowers mostly ruin the gameplay for me. Ironically, I actually liked Gat Out Of Hell. It went back to a more anchored story, and it doesn't lean too much on superpowers. As for the reboot, I didn't bother trying it. Epic exclusivity will do that for me, I tend to avoid those even after their exclusivity period ends.

Ugh! I had one of the Final Fury sequels on the Mega-CD, but I can't remember which one. 😅 The game over screen had your character trying to blow out the fuse on a bushel of dynamite sticks. And that's it. That's all I can remember about it. Streets of Rage was absolutely the better game. P.s. Metal Slug was alright, but Midnight Resistance was much better in my opinion. Even though no one else seems to remember it. 😅

If you want a rip-off that did well until its 3rd installment: "Parasite Eve" was a pretty blatant rip-off of "Resident Evil" just with more RPG mechanics in the combat in the first game, but the second installment went heavy on the action instead. We don't talk about the 3rd one.

Parasite Eve is based on a book that was written before Resident Evil came out. The book was published in Japan in 95. Resident Evil was released in 96.

Fun fact: the main reason we'll never see remakes of the PE series (and why the name wasn't on the 3rd one) is because SE didn't even get permission to use the book's premise from the author before starting work on the first game. You know the old adage of "it's easier to beg for forgiveness later than to ask for permission now"? That was SquareEnix. The author was okay with the first game but HATED PE2 and revoked permission for the PE name after it came out.
