The problem is, the term finch is somewhat generic. There are birds shown here from at least four separate families; Fringillidae (true finches), Estrildidae (estrildid finches, which were most of these), Ploceidae (weavers), and one, the Woodpecker Finch is in the family Thraupidae which is Tanagers.

I have young tiger finch (red avadavat) in my aviary at the moment. And I also have the starfinch, and Bichenows that are mentioned here, but I have more finches not mentioned. I love all of them, but my favorites are the blue capped waxbill.
