How you can put the lamborghini inthis list. It has a lot of problems like color differencies the wrong body shell color. And besides that it is not a lego technic set because it has no real functions (i dont count the gearbox as a function)

Airtech Claw Rig. For those who have been around a lot longer, and know the history of LEGO and technic, the Airtech Claw Rig 8868, is the best technic set of all time. So much functionality, nothing wasted on just looks, but it's all there to do something. No set since has surpassed it. I have no use for the modern car set, where all the gears are hidden, and large pieces around the outside there just for looks.
@free_spirit12 жыл бұрын
Sadly I never had one of these. My parents bought me the 8064 model, which, although not as elaborate as some of these was so stimulating to my young mind. I remember so many of the creations I made, the mechanisms I put in them, the emotions I felt as a child, designing and creating stuff, both system and technic. I remember what I felt making return to center steering, getting my first differential in the mail, or encasing some translucent 1x1s in clear window pieces, pretending it was gem stones and looking at them glisten in the sun. And I always wanted more lego. Ironically the fact that I only had a few sets actually made me more creative than had I had more.

Awesome video! I loved lego as a kid. I was lucky enough to get one motorized technic set sometime in the early 90s. It came with a motor and a very long battery pack controller of some kind. I believe I took three D batteries to operate. The instructions included several different things you could build. I recall lots of wheels and rubber bands along with the gears. :) I am now 41 years old and would like to get back into this hobby. I have decided to buy the excavator 8043 off Bricklink as my first set getting back into it. Seems really awesome. Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

@@Unbrickme Yes, but for whom? As a AFOL, I love Lego technic sets with multiple functions, especially when the functions are new or somehow different from the pervious sets. I love the fact that I can make old sets with my collection of technic pieces because they do not require new pieces. One of my favorite technic set is 8258 which it costs too much to buy even for a used one. However, I managed to build it entirely with my technic pieces from my other sets. Nowadays, Lego introduces new pieces every year to force us to buy the set. They even make those pieces unavailable for buying individually. I have way too many Lego sets where I have to be very selective when I buy a new one.

I don't think the osprey is the number 1 most beloved set among Technic fans. That title consistently goes to the Arocs. But it's very nice to see legends like the air tech claw rig, the space shuttle and 8880 vx4 Daytona supercar on the list. They may been been surpassed in terms of complexity and functionality, but not by very much and these sets were absolute ground breakers when they were released. We have had small, incremental changes since, but those were massive leaps forward. The Arocs was a leap forward as well as 42100, but in the case of 42100 I'm not sure it was a leap in a direction that everyone liked. And I know you really like 8043, a lot of fans do, but I personally don't see it. There are three types of authenticity. One is looks, the second is functionally and the third is mechanically. 8043 may look authentic I guess, but this is Technic, for me personally I care about the mechanical and functional, 8043 is not mechanically realistic at all. The space shuttle gets a pass simply because you can't make a mechanically realistic space shuttle into a toy without burning down the house!
@Unbrickme3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the awesome comment and you make some great points!!! I don't think the 42100 was a huge leap forward. The set was big and remotely controlled, but it really didn't have anything special offered $450. For that price, I would expect some insane mechanisms, like a dual differential tank drive, or a motorized gearbox! Also the idea of having the chassis and the superstructure contain 2 separate hubs is just weird for a technic set. It's essentially 2 different and independent technic sets but connected together. It would've been much better if there was a hub in the top superstructure and the two independent axles for the tracks just came down from the superstructure through the turn table. Also it uses just one motor per one function, that is extremely basic, a little too basic for a $450 set. The 8043 is the best lego technic set in my opinion because it was the first one to introduce a fully remotely controlled motorized gearbox! It used just 4 motors to control 6 different functions (7 if you include the gearbox switching itself as a function). and it used to many genius mechanisms! it had so many gears but it was also so compact!!!
@radbot13 жыл бұрын
@@Unbrickme And thank you for the awesome reply and awesome videos 👍. For me it's all about mechanical authenticity. Many reviewers look at a model, say that it looks like the real thing and is therefore authentic. But to me that's not right for Technic. It's should be about the mechanical. Looks is for system and electronic is for mindstorms. If the real vehicle has dual tank drive differential gearbox then that's what I want to see. But if each track has its own drive motor in the real vehicle then that's what I want to see. I've never heard of a vehicle work using a multifunction gearbox or screw type actuators. That's why I love sets like 8868. Also 8880 for it's introduction of drive rings to make gearboxes more realistic. It's just a shame that in the 27 years since it was released we still only have the 16 and 20 tooth sizes. But that's just my opinion, different strokes for different folks 🙂

I'm glad I got it for my birthday the other day, for 250€ becaue of the pieces, but it's not really good-looking and you can't show off, or play with the functions. I mean, you can activate the scissor doors and the spoiler and you can also make the paddles go click. but the lack of HOG means that you can't drive it, the suspensions are still too soft and the transmission and motor are too hidden to be enjoyed. there's also no point in the instructions where you get to play with the transmission and motor while they're still visible. I mean, I'm glad I got it for 250€; but I would be PISSED if I spent 450€ on it...
