Quick correction: That bloodstain on the canvas at Over the Edge 1999 was not from Owen. It was from a blood bath done by The Brood on Sunday Night Heat. If you look at the canvas, the stain is already there at the beginning of the PPV. Owen Hart's injuries only caused internal bleeding and severe blunt-force hemorrhaging. He had no external bleeding.

It's hard to know for sure because the episode has been Thanos Snapped from existence, but I remember the next day thinking some of the wrestlers giving speeches were weary, as if they suspected what happened. Which is not only likely, those close to him would have to be idiots not to realize he was nuts at that point. He had *SEVERE* CTE and wasn't playing with a full deck for a while leading up to it. It's been almost 20 years so it's hard to remember it all, but I remember them saying that, for example, he was paranoid and always thought he was being followed, so he'd never take the same route twice. A lot of people took that to mean there really were people after him and he was innocent, but sadly it's just symptoms of his brains being mashed potatoes. WWE damn well knew it too, despite claiming the events weren't related to CTE and he just did it because he's evil or some such. The kinds of moves that caused his CTE was instantly and universally banned, and there's no reason for that if CTE wasn't behind him going bonkers. But I digress. Like I said, they might not have known he was >murderously< insane, but those near him had to know he wasn't playing with a full deck.

If I remember correctly, there was actually a separate court case in the early 2010s where Martha tried to prevent WWE from ever making any sort of money off of (or even make reference to) Owen in any way, I believe due to the launch of the WWE Network & WWE wanting to make the Hart of Gold documentary/tribute DVD set. Essentially, Martha wanted to prevent WWE from ever making any more money at all off of Owen & the courts actually wound up siding with WWE, since Marth's demands were too harsh (Owen would have had to have been edited out of every show he was a part of on the Network, to comply), which allowed the Hart of Gold DVD set to see release in 2015, and WWE is legally allowed to reference Owen & show archival footage of him whenever they want, & I believe any Owen Hart royalties from WWE Network/Peacock & home video releases go to the Owen Hart Foundation, in turn. WWE is just very selective about when it references Owen today, due to the bad blood with Martha.

I remember that night 10:13 ...i forgot it was a three jour show and turned to it. I remember posting something about Chris Benoit on Myspace and then deleted it shortly after. As soon as i turned it on, i caught the very end of CM Punk crying. And i was about to not watch anymore because I thought they were making wrestlers cut tribute promos about Vince because I hadn't heard about the Benoit family situation before i turned it on. Intrigued, i wanted to see where it was going. Then i was a bit sad when it came on and they were talking about the situation. I wanted to call my dad, who was at the casino with my mom l, but figured he wouldn't be able to hear. And i felt bad for mocking Punk during the commercial. Had I heard him say Chris Benoit, I would have been like what the heck? But i was under the impression that he was crying over Vince. Also heairng about Owen's death late at night on the news. Before bed. Justying the trying to fall sleep. That was sadder because i was a big Owen fan. Some of the kids at school were sad about it too. Took me awhile to find an action figure of him. I used the John Smith from McDonald's pochantas toy for awhile. The Hills store was going out of business, so i went like a day or two later and got the Owen and Rock nation two pack. I had some Bkue Blazer figures too. Sadly all of my figures were thrown away or lost between moves. I really think Owen would have been WWF/WWE champion or even World Champion had that not happened and he didn't leave wrestling.

The finish alone of that hell in a cell match makes it the worst hell in a cell match of all time in my book. One fall to a finish?

By any chance was this video related to Adam finding out about the Benoit Wikipedia edits on this week's Podcast? Strange timing if not.

The recurring theme of all of these is Vince McMahon being a stupid pos and other being blamed for his f ups.

I was 19 years old when Owen Hart died. Because I didn't watch the PPV. I didn't know the next night on Raw. Chris Benoit family murder and his suicide was shocking. Never expected that he done. Thought it could been a robbery gone wrong.

I wasn’t watching WWE until 2010 but I can imagine watching the Benoit tribute episode and Over the Edge 1999 would be hard to watch.

It's an excellent thing that ECW's "December to Disremember" is ONE & DONE on PPV!!!

Technically the blood from Over the Edge came from that bloodbath from the Brood but it was still the darkest day in wrestling besides the Chris Benoit situation.

The curtain call was also why triple h had loss after loss until either 98 or 99 because that was his punishment

I understand Owen wife’s anger but I think it’s horrible she doesn’t let wwe acknowledge him cause I feel lik it hurts his legacy only cause the new generation will solely know him as Bret’s lil brother instead of the 2x slammy winner and as one of these or if and these greatest high flyer/ tec wrestlers of all time

This list should have included WWE mocking Britney. I mean, Vince, Johnny Ace and Kevin Dunn need to apologize for that too.

Still can’t believe they aired the Benoit tribute show without knowing the full details, doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the three dead bodies could be the result of a double-murder suicide

I remember at the time that they'd just moved house and people theorised carbon monoxide poisoning. They've asked before we knew anything about the texts and phone calls.
@JimmySands-pd7xt8 ай бұрын
@@slashloveruk that theory was definitely plausible, I’m just amazed they didn’t wait until they 100% knew what happened just in case it was something more sinister than that

I was in the audience for both hell in a cell 2019 and the July 2005 SmackDown. Hell in a cell was definitely the worst pay-per-view I’ve ever been at, whereas if anyone asks about that smack down, I don’t refer to Mohammed Hassan, instead, I mention the bWo.
