One of my fav amen break tunes isn't really even in the jungle/dnb canon, it's Squarepusher's "Port Rhombus", just reminded me of that massive nostalgia trip! :D
@apoplexiamusic3 жыл бұрын
yeah Port Rhombus is such a masterpiece. like how to make a break a truly expressive instrument, not to mention the sick jazzy bassline on top!

This feels like some secret, master-key knowledge that I don't have clearance to have access to. Like, any minute now, Babylon gonna smash down my front door and bust in my yard. This is like the Junglist Ark of the Convenant and we're being blessed to be given an audience!

This was one of the most amazing videos I have ever watched on youtube. 7 out of the 10 tracks deconstructed, I own the vinyl, bought between 93-94, some of the best years of my life raving to Jungle. This video was perfectly done, and the breaks deconstructed, and it really gave me chance to see the DNA, of the tracks I loved soo much. After this video I had to subscribe to you, also I love when you play the final deconstruction, yoy show Lives screen at angle, nice touch.

It was produced by Undercover Agent aka Splash. I won't mention his name but the man was a true visionary. Dubplate Circles, Oh Gosh and many more. I remember hearing it on dubplate via Pirate radio and my Jamo's were rumbling - happy memories.

I’m not feeling the ads however your video was great. I had no idea most of these tracks were using the end of the break like that. Even more interesting is your KZbin handle... “Stranjah”.... it rings a bell!!! So I looked on discogs and yep, your him! You made one of my favorite jungle records, the 2000 era remix of Hardrive “Deep inside”. I liked that so much that when I visited 611 Records in philly, right before it closed, I saw your record on Version VER001 and I bought it just because you made it. Ads aside, I like your videos and I’m glad I have two of your records.

Really great video - you made some excellent pedagogical choices in using audio rather than MIDI, isolating and describing the component parts of the break, and colour-coding the clips. This is the stuff that sets you above the rest! I'd love to see a follow-up video on drumfunk choppage/programming in the style of Paradox and Nucleus, as well as how to get that gritty signature sound.
