Just a few additional details about the Washington Redskins.... The team started out as the Boston Braves, playing in the same stadium as the Boston Braves baseball team. Due to low attendance, the team moved across town to Fenway Park were the Boston Red Sox play. George Preston Marshall, who owned the football team liked the "Indian Motif" but wanted to distance his football team from the abysmal Boston Braves baseball team. So Mr. Marshall decided to give his team a name that sounded somewhat similar to the Boston Red Sox, and chose the name Boston Redskins. Then, because of continued low attendance, George P. Marshall decided to move the team to Washington DC.
