Mr. Furry, it's actually an over exaggeration that Australia is impeccably deadly, we actually have very few species that will go out of their way to kill you, your raised here told what to run from, and what to just ignore.
@amandah28665 жыл бұрын
As an Aussie, I find it hilarious how many of these animals are found in Australia. Though, it's true that the stonefish venom isn't a laughing matter. A girl I went to school with nearly died one year after stepping on one at the beach. She'd broken bones in the past but said the stonefish toxin was the single most painful thing she'd ever experienced. I also want to give a quick shout out to botox, slayer of migraines! I no longer need to take any medications for migraines since I started getting botox injections. I was taking 3 different migraine medications plus pain killers and I'd still get them. This year I've had 2 migraines and both times the migraine was caused by illness. Botox might have the potential to kill but it also does so much good.

The Box Jellyfish's venom is so powerful that 1 sting can easily kill a man. Years ago a man was diving at night near the island of Mauritius and swam into a school of them. He was stung multiple times and then had a hell of a time getting a taxi to take him to the hospital because they thought he was drunk. At the hospital, he died and was placed in the morgue. He had an amazing near death experience! If this interests you check out the video on youtube: "Ian McCormack: A Glimpse of Eternity" - it's about an hour long and will blow your mind......enjoy.

I live in Australia. I have a fond memory of finding a Python snake sun baking in my spare bed one morning. He stayed for a few days, I gave him a name (Sugar Kisses? Pretty Cuddles? I can't remember), and he would lie next to me without hissing or anything. I think he was waiting for a rat that lived there too. I thought he was staying....but then he left! The neighbour said he comes and goes. We lived in a hippie community in the middle of a rain forest. It was such a nice place. In my current house, I found a Python trying to get in through my fly-screen window one evening. So I opened it for him. Then he buggered off! I hate when animals do that. You wanted to get in. Now window is open. Then you piss off? The venomous snakes don't go lie in your bed though, even in A rain forest (I think, anyway). A tiger or brown snake wouldn't do that. That would be scary!

they'll hurt you but they may also help. it makes for an interesting kind of paradox. for example the cone snail venom has be used in developing a pain reliever called Zirconotide. Why? Well for chronic pain, there is only one thing currently available to treat it: opioid-based meds (there are plenty of brand names these drugs are marketed under but at base level they are all either natural or synthetic opioids whether morphine, oxycodone, dilaudid, fentanyl, etc). Not everyone gets relief from opioids. So if you're seeing a Pain Mgmt specialist and you find out you're one of the unlucky one's that don't get relief from opioids, then you are likely out of luck since most insurance doesn't cover Zirconotide. And the nasty side effects (psychosis) make it a questionable proposition...even if you happen to have the financial resources to pay for it out of pocket. But I digress...

I live in rural Australia. In my area, the only snakes I seem to bump into when I go for a walk are harmless Pythons, very occasionally Red belly black snakes (venomous, but only moderately), and the very, very venomous Brown snake or tiger snakes I don't see much, but I know they're around, I just look where I'm going when I walk in the bush. Tiger snakes are a bit aggressive u venomous, I saw one next to the house I was visiting, walked up, it went a bit forward u hissed at me b4 hurrying away. On my mother's property I almost stepped on a Red-belly black snake twice, & there's one the lives in a log next to the dam. Up the coast a bit from my area, people stopped swimming for a while because of all the shark attacks. But not in my area. I haven't walked around in other areas much, but where I've lived, I haven't met any wild Death-Adders, but probably coz they hide so well and are shy. All you need to do is watch where your stepping in the bush, and assume that a snake may have made a home under something before you pick it up. That's all. In when I lived in north Australia, people wouldn't go in the Sea for half the year because of the Box Jellyfish, signs everywhere too. And in some areas had crocodiles in the sea too (Darwin, I think that was).

Ah great!! As if Steven Spielberg hadn't put me off the ocean forever now I have see-through box jellyfish, cone snails and blue-ringed octopuses to scare what little bejeebies remained!! 😨

Not only did you scare me away from the ocean but also Australia. No wonder Crocodile Dundee decided to come to the US.

That's why I prefer freshwater lakes. The lack of lethal animals is a big plus.

Expected most, if not all, the poisonous creatures to be found in Australia. Was not disappointed.

that molecule he showed is not cyanide. Cyanide is just a carbon atom (triple) bonded to a nitrogen atom or CN. The CN ion is usually part of a larger molecule which is then usually labeled as a cyanide species but there is no CN group in that molecule.
