This video takes you on an incredible trip to discover the ten most conservative states in the United States and the number of liberals that live in each. These states really believe in certain ideas about how things should work, like keeping the government smaller and holding onto traditional values.
When someone looks for a new place to live and maybe buy a home or some real estate, the realtor isn't going to tell you these things.
In this video, we're going to learn about what makes these places so conservative and why they stick to their beliefs. We'll look at different things, like how people live, what they think is essential, and how they make rules for their state.

An important thing to note about moving based on politics is that your local government and community will be much more relevant to your day-to-day life than your state government. For example, most people consider Illinois to be a solid blue state, however the vast majority of it (in terms of surface area, not population) is more conservative. I’ve lived all over Illinois and you’d never know it was a “blue state” unless you live in very specific areas, most notably Chicago.

Almost every blue state is like that, there will be one or two major liberal strongholds that hold back the rest of the state and it’s smaller rural towns. Just like in Oregon, it would be a red state without Portland.

Caleb, pull up the Pew Research report, which has the electorate broken down by conservative, moderate, liberal and "don't know". The numbers for my state, Arkansas, are very close to what was reported here. Arkansas breaks down as follows: 42% conservative, 38% moderate, 14% liberal and 6% don't know, and in most states, the moderate number is the largest or close to the largest number. For comparison, California is considered a Democratic / left leaning state, but their statistics are: 31% conservative, 34% moderate, 29% liberal and 6% don't know. My point is that most states are moderate.

South Dakota definitely very conservative except for Pine Ridge Reservation and Vermillion. When I was there in July 2020, no one wearing a mask or social distancing, 100% capacity everything, people giving you weird looks with you in a mask, and lots of Trump signs as well as having the Sturgis Motorbike Rally a few weeks later despite warnings not to have it.

That feeling signals that you don't see yourself as one of the outliers who would be in danger for just living your life. In highly conservative states violence against targeted groups is very real and so forces folks in those groups to have to consider that.

By literal definition, Liberal = Freedom, and Conservative = Preservation and Tradition. One represents true freedom, freedom to live, choose, do, think and believe without restriction (true definition of freedom), while the other is the embodiment of maintaining consistency, or the phrase "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". Facts! Red states almost entirely all have fewer electoral votes than blue or battleground states. However, I believe there are more red than blue states and that can fill in the gaps. Then there is the battleground states that often determine who is elected president. Ohio is a major example of that, between 1968 to 2016, every president that was elected had won Ohio, so basically it’s almost like you’ve had to win Ohio in order to win the election.

After watching this video, I decided to go digging around on some websites that broke out demographic data. I had always assumed that liberal states would attract more women. The sex ratio data seems surprising to me. Alaska and North Dakota are the most "male-heavy" states (I assume that reflects the types of employment available), but most of the "female-heavy" states are in the conservative regions of the south. Any idea of what is behind that?

I started looking a population pyramid for some the states with higher female numbers. Clearly, the difference grows out of the difference in life expectance as men disappear from upper age brackets. I guess I should review the earlier video Briggs made on healthcare and life expectance.

Those would be conservative women and they are seeking conservative men so they are moving to conservative states to have families. Liberal women are usually career women and being around conservative women depresses them. They don't find out happiness is in raising families until it's either almost too late or too late for them.

Don't know where moderates have started leaning left came from. I haven't met a single moderate that leans left. Met a lot of liberals leaning right though. Libertarians used to be liberal but since the meaning of that word changed they're definitely conservative now. A lot of younger people lean liberal now because they believe the lies that democrats are going to make life better for them and think socialism is a good idea. Right, it’s been awhile for you hunh? Every time I vote, they have electronic machines with hardly any privacy. The last election, a volunteer at the polls leaned his arm on top of the “wall” to my computerized voting booth and was going to watch. I just stood there staring at the system board for about a minute, then turned my head, locked eyes with the guy wearing a plain blue T shirt and said “GET OUT OF HERE!” I guess I was the first person to address him watching me vote.
