That’s a fair jump in swing speed ! Some would be happy with any increase in swing speed if’s few mph but a jump of 16 mph in that sequence is pretty good with definitely more to come.

He has his own yt channel now too. It's worth watching his torque and moment arm explanation there. I think one key is the lengthening of the moment arm, meaning COPelvis must be more to the right at the point of peak combined GF/torque in the DS. Hence the Austin hip move in the BS already. He also responded to my Q there with 'in the BS the right foot pushes down and outward, in the DS the left foot pushes down and outward'. (I understand from this video to add to that the flying start push a la Kyle B off the left foot and that Austin hip move.)

Watched this last week and worked on what is explained at 13:00. Great feel for loading up. My previous high ss on a monitor was 98mph.. At a callaway fitting yesterday I was at 98-100 consistantly and a high of 102. Literally added about 3-4mph of consistant speed just with this feel of pulling a weight back to load up then drop down.

Similar to baseball for a pitcher and hitter. Both lift their front lets to hit. I tried to lift my front leg high like a pitcher on my back swing to coil up, and instantly realized there was not enough time to do so. Then I found that I can however lift my front heel up to where all my weight is on my back. Then I pushed through...

Is this really a 3D analysis? What is acting on the forces when you swing 20 pds of arm weight at 80mph-110mph in the down swing? Is your mass keeping you from coming over the top? Lateral movement is not just in the right or left direction when you are dealing with centrifugal momentum is it? If you do the rope drill, and start out with your left foot behind your right foot, you will find out real fast that you need to counter fall to generate speed and get the feeling of where your center mass is. These are great videos and analysis Dr. Kwon. I am pulling out my physics books again to follow you.

This really was written before I saw the rest of the video. What I see is that she is doing what many women do and taking too much advantage of her flexibility to the disadvantage of speed. She is rotating her upper body too early because she has enough spinal flexibility to get the club down without waiting for her hips to unwind. This movement takes less strength but more flexibility. If she keeps her back turned longer while her weight shifts, she can then explode taking full advantage of the hip/shoulder discrepancy and delay the release of the trail arm and hand for maximum acceleration through impact. This takes more holding and braking power within the trunk, hip and thigh muscles but is much more efficient and ultimately much more powerful. This is written after I saw the rest of the video. So it's basically what I said in that there's too much reliance on flexibility in the spine which is why she is just spinning on the backswing which leads to the same tendency on the downswing. In order to do what I mentioned in the first half, it is a given that she would have to apply more force to the ground with her trail side in the backswing which essentially will increase the force of her "fall" significantly in the downswing which is what I was describing earlier. This will allow her to release the trail arm much more powerfully.

A lot of hitting the golf ball far is technique, for sure. Her swing is in such good shape he basically taught her how to get the lower body moving sooner. So the club is still going back when the lower body begins dropping and driving. That creates more torque and lag / whip through the ball. She's flexible and in great shape, so not everyone is going to be able get her results that quickly. I'm not sure she'll get all 110 that she gets in the drill. But she probably added 20 yards in one session.

The entire golf world will have to switch over to my new model.

Great content in the video. The sports sensor swing speed radar your using in the video are known to be quite inaccurate, I have seen them off by 10+ miles per hour. It would be nice to see her hitting balls on track man something more reliable and accurate. For her to increase by 16mph in a couple of swings is kind of hard to believe.

For the guys who are claiming they've only gained x amount of speed not more like Kennedy.. is basically the difference of watching and imitating and getting a proper lesson. Without a proper analysis you have no idea what you actually need. Hell some of us could even gain 30miles rather than 16. Remember she basically peaked her speed with all her might and couldn't get more SO she visited Dr. Kwon, not because of her trained body. The trained body means she was already physically working at her peak. The change of concept and using it in a different timing has made her new speeds... It really interests me how an office worker keeps making excuses to say the increase is from the body not the idea / concept change. The body is only important to prevent injury. What im envious of her is that if I did do that action I'll be out for weeks as my body is no longer that flexible to put those ideas into motion consistently. If you can lift a club with no issues then I disagree with a strong body being the issue to her massive increase. Remember she already had the body before reaching doc, not after.

I would guess if motion is key in his analysis , could it be, rushing with the arms, at the expense of less separation, and less torque . She has such a powerful swing, evident in the before but not so much strain in the after efforts showing more speed.

I don't really care what he tells her to do, she's already misguided in even coming to a hack like him. The #1 thing that matters in terms of driving the ball is to KEEP THE GODDAM BALL IN PLAY and gives you a good 2nd shot. #1 thing that leads to low scores is optimum positioning of the ball that again, gives you a good 2nd shot. She should be looking to improve her ball POSITIONING, not her clubhead speed. Now yes there is some overlap there as certainly it would be nice to hit the ball 30 yards farther and have an even better 2nd shot but you have to look at the tradeoff between where you're putting the ball now, your accuracy and precision now, and what happens to your accuracy and precision when you try to hit the ball 10% farther (or with a 5mph more CS). Because there are many ways to hit the ball 10% farther or 5mph faster and they all have effects on your accuracy and precision. All of my years of playing golf has taught me to ignore clubhead speed in favor of my ability to put the ball where I want it to go. Clubhead-speed is the Devil talking. I'm not saying that it is impossible to improve the efficiency of the proces sof transferring the desire to swing the club into clubhead speed. Sure it is worth some review and analysis. But only if your swing is utter shit. If I was knocking on the door to playing on a college team? Not to mention qualifying for a pro tour? That right there would tell me that my swing is anything but shit. You don't go out on the range for a tour-sop and see shit swings. You don't go anywhere that decent players are playing, that have to make any sort of cut to get there, and see shit swings. She can definitely muscle-up and increase her clubhead-speed while maintaining clubhead control. But trying to do it through biomechanics is a waste of time. That is snake-oil. What you're going to end-up doing is swinging harder in pursuit of numerical gains in clubhead-speed. What you find is that whatever gains you find cost you any and all control and consistency in terms of putting your drives in play. My simple advice for that is get a stiff shaft on your club with a decent weight and torque, say 6.5g and 3.5g of torque, open the head up on your club and do some sim-time. Get your ass in front of that sim, hit balls and find what you want in terms of distance while keeping the ball in play and monitoring your "drive in play" percentage. Then get to the point where you can hit draws and cuts, high and low, long medium and short, left, center and right and put the ball where you want it when you want it there. It's not just the shot that you want to hit, that matters. It's actually hitting that shot, or at least something close enough to call it a good shot. When you can play your driver like a fiddle you won't give a fuck about clubhead speed. It buys you nothing. Let's take three guys as an example, DJ, DeChambeau and Rory. All are well-known serious hitters. I could add Bubba and a few other guys to this mix but let's focus on just these three for the moment. The big difference between them now is that two of them are playing LIV and one of them is still playin on the PGA Tour. That is because while DJ and DeChambeau have achieved the pinnacle of their game, their effort to get there made them realize that, "well fuck, playing at the top level of golf is hard, and if I have to do so by *outdriving* everyone then the hell if I really want to make a living doing that 20-25 rounds per year". So they joined LIV where they can make about the same money as playing on Tour but with half the commitment and effort. Now note that this only works as long as LIV keeps its numbers down and its "market-share" up. If they took the top 50 PGA Tour players, then it is hard to see them all making "guaranteed money" and being happy. Rory took the opposite road. He went from a fat young kid who could drive nails with his approach shots to a beefed-up merc on the course who could and would beat opponents into the ground with his long game. I mean, he's followed a road that started with who, Jack himself and continued on through some of the most notable and memorable long hitters in the game, and now Rory is front and center in the sun. But is he going to be able to keep it up for long? I really don't think that he will be, because it is a lot of hard work to beef-up and go out and blast bombs for 18 holes a round, 4 rounds per weekend, 25 rounds per year. It just...wears on you. Especially if you can get that distance without going that route like Bubba easily has. Even John fucking Daly is still going out and crushing balls and the heaviest thing that Daly lifts is a half-chicken in one hand and a pint of beer in the other hand. No everyone knows that they have clubhead-speed, a certain natural amount of clubhead-speed, and that really is enough to get them about 85-90% of what they did if they did beef-up like DeChambeau and Rory and Tiger. But do they really want to go through the biomechanical issues that DeChambeau and Tiger have gone through, ignoring the pills and the car-crash? No they most certainly do not. Tiger is Tiger. DeChambeau is DeChambeau. But everyone is an individual and in my opinion if golf becomes a matter of working out in the gym to build mass and power then it loses its meaning as a sport. It becomes baseball, football, some sort of track & field thing. It's not "golf". Golf is as much about hitting good short shots as it is about hitting long drives. Go to a golf course to play golf. Not baseball with a golf-club. Don't go to a golf-course and be the guy who held the record for home runs in your high-school conference. Go to a golf course and be the guy who plays a good round of golf. Young or old, man or woman you do that well and you'll always be a hero no matter what you score. And definitely no matter how far you hit the ball.

Take a GOOD look at Kennedy at 13:34 of the video; her hips are moving the direction and time Kwon wants; NOW-- look at her upper body, it has BEEN LEFT behind( separation) SHE NEEDS THIS( it won't be as pronounced in her normal swing); these muscles will play a big role the speed and strength of that take away, this WILL also --- be USING her CORE upper body that Kwon wants her to use, more than her arms! NEXT--Kennedy needs to do some AB work on her outer obliques on BOTH left and right! -- they will BE the dynamic strength that WILL add to the take away! Medicine Ball throws on BOTH SIDES, throwing to the her left and right, working her out obliques, and using the ground! She needs inner thigh muscle strengthening on BOTH legs-- they give HUGE stability and will ADD Control to the whole movement! She is very fit, she just needs the next step, that takes a lot of work-- for small IMPORTANT gains-- the "law of diminishing returns"!

I don't think Kennedy has ENOUGH of the BODY movement AWAY--FIRST-- in the take away! She needs a CONSISTENT trigger that gets her BODY moving away from the ball --- FIRST and that drill may need to be EXAGGERATED - to get her the feel of leaving the club STILL as she moves her body FIRST-- on the take away. The transition back to the ball, would be more automatic the way Dr. Kwon WANTS it to be if this happens( not guaranteed, but much better probabilities!) YOU did this in a good drill on your video; "stage 1"- if you play golf do this drill to start Dec,20 2021-- go to 6:42 in that video- I think he will say this and she just needs more of this - she needs that trigger of body movement-- first--- that is my opinon and what I think Kwon will say.

Interesting. When Dechambeau and Berkshire put out a video of them practicing long drives on a sim, Berkshire mentioned to Bryson a way to get more distance was that you WANT to sway back in the backswing and forward in the downswing. I'm sure this is what he was talking about.

Yeah I bet you get more distance since you use more sway/movement but I guess there must be some timing issues. With enough practice you can prolly get the same sway every time and less timing issues.

@@anklepick9524 Sway isn't really the correct term to use, my mistake. It's more of completely loading weight onto your right side (Pulling the club from the guy made her load her weight onto the trail side of her stance) then loading all of it to the lead side BEFORE the downswing begins. I'm pretty sure that's what Berkshire meant when he told Dechambeau to sway back then forward in his swing for more distance, moving the weight around to introduce more torque in the swing for higher swing speeds. There is always timing involved, but minimizing that timing is the ultimate goal for consistency. AND if the timing you do is in starting the backswing and not at impact then you can get a more consistent ball flight. imho. (h stands for honest)

I think he will get her to drive the swing from the ground and the key will be the entire body move in transition to shift pressure while allowing the backswing to mature.

move right very early(sway) then recenter during the backswing. Everything needs to happen earlier in the swing

I like to think of it as a redistribution of weight. "Sway" always make me think of the head moving off too. The pyramid example Dr. Kwan used is a great visualization of the lower body using ground pressure while the head stays put.

@@JDSFLA Athletic Motion Golf purposely call it a sway, or a movement right of an inch or so. But yes, if you can shift pressure back early, recenter it by the time you get to the top, and then shift most of that pressure to the left foot by left arm parallel going down( Mike Malaska) you have the idea.

I got a big increase during lockdown of about 15 mph but with a ball there - hitting a ball when the courses reopened was a different result and only had 4 or 5 mph

I agree the best series. I wish Dr Kwon lived in Florida 😘. I've practiced his method and I went from 90 to 84 in just a few weeks. Now I need a putting miracle. 😁.
