Mike Austin advocate and disciple as of five years ago here. Agreed; Mike was ahead of his time and even without the benefit of modern technology, was able unlock the mysteries of the swing. I believe I am a testament to the validity of the MA method. Five years ago I was down to 220 carry with my driver. I immediately got accuracy and distance but it didn’t translate to better scores - the compound pivot and right hand throwing action confused over forty years of contradictory instruction and old demons would haunt me for over two years. A few months ago I feel I incorporated the finishing touches to my swing, that is the releasing of the right forearm from the top and throwing out the right thumb; Dan Shauger’s “spin the meatballs.” Filtering through Hogan’s three right hands, Nicklaus stating, “You can’t release too soon,” John Schlee’s “waiter’s tray” analogy and other “tips,” I found myself hitting as hard as I can with my right hand- it feels like a turbocharger, a distinct acceleration of the hands, a sensation never before felt. At 68 years old I am now carrying 260 “cruising speed” drives and when the stars are aligned, attested 300+ yards. This only happened about a month and a half ago when on 17 I threw my iron in the lake and really thought of quitting. On 18 I was forced to finish the round and angrily hit my ball over the heads of our gang playing in front. They laser’d it at 295 carry and 305 total to a 3 degree uphill fairway. It’s unbelievable. I’m afraid I’ll wake up at any moment or somehow lose the technique. Dr. Kwon, backed by technology, Bill Melhorn (Golf Secrets Exposed) and Joe Dante (Four Magic Moves to Winning Golf) are among the few who align with Mike’s preaching and supply other facets of the same ideal. Joey Numsen: I’d prefer to keep it a secret. -(censored, eh? I had to chuckle because as a non partisan American loyal to the Constitution, I get censored a lot.) You’ve obviously got a natural talent regardless of Mike and just to give some perspective, Nicklaus shot 92 (somebody correct me) the very first time out. I shot 138 counting the wiffs and got to a 7 handicap in 18 months, albeit collecting 600 scorecards, and doing nothing else but golf - a magical year and a half, no school, no job, no rent, no worries Never got any better than a 5 but now thanks to the Mike Austin method, I’m driving farther than ever and consistently accurate. John Marshall, MA instructor and Senior LD champ says it’s hard not to hit it straight and it requires little maintenance (once you get it-took me two years to break former habits.) The cherry on top is I finally have an aesthetic swing that looks smooth and effortless. Fairways and greens. PenguinGolf.

@jamestown48672 жыл бұрын
Hello, stevenolmstead! I’m five years into the MIke Austin method and as of about a month ago the promise of incredible distance finally came true. On-course accuracy and consistency came after two aggravating years but regaining lost distance came, as it seems it did for you, immediately. Suddenly about a month ago I started hitting 300+ yard drives. It’s strange that on 17, I threw my 7 iron in the lake after a perfect drive and vowed to quit this quirky game for good. There’s more important concerns in this upside down world. On 18, my gang insisted I finish the round and I hit an angry drive that was laser’d by the guys in front at 295 carry. I’m hooked again and practice at the range tells me that I’m a lot longer than two months ago but still haven’t hit a 295 carry... but I’m getting 280. Mike was hitting over 350 at 74. Mike Dunaway would be carrying 350+ at 68 years old. I’m getting 300+ total. Mike D and I were born the same year. Fairways and greens, my friend. PenguinGolf.

@@jamestown4867 thats cause youre to worried about the damn distance! get the method and the moves down... u threw the 7i cause you didnt use the method with the iron i guarantee it
@jamestown48672 жыл бұрын
Exactly. When you’re 65 and can’t carry 220 confidently (no. 7 requires 220 to carry the creek or bail left up to 200) distance becomes an obsession. I was carrying 240 with persimmon and 260 with Pittsburgh persimmon through my 50s so yeah, too concerned with distance again. But that’s not the problem with the 7 iron approach. After nearly 5 years with the Austin method, my old PGA approved method of posterior rotation of the hips caused two ugly chunks into the lake. I haven’t had an honest 300 yard drive in months but my cruising speed drives are consistent at 240 carry. I’m happy with that but that still doesn’t get me on in two even on a wimpy 500 yard par 5. Fairways and Greens!
@courvilleg12 жыл бұрын
Finally got rid of your hitch! Great series! As a coach this is enlightening.
@jamestown48672 жыл бұрын
“The weight bearing hip moves up.” Again and again validation of the Mike Austin method. Mike said he doesn’t think of the hips rotating (though it of course did AFTER posting;) that he felt his hips move up and down- he didn’t mean vertically together but exactly as Dr. Kwon says. Mike says the left hand acts like throwing a frisbee and of course following through with the big arm/shoulder movement the doc advocates. I wonder if Dr. Kwon teaches a similar left hand frisbee action? Mike also emphasizes both sides getting some action. Neither pure swinger nor pure hitter. Switter. Again, I am five years into the MA method, a steady 5-7 handicapper for over 40 years and EUREKA! as of about two months ago, at 68 years old, I am carrying 280+ (295 best, laser’d on the course) and getting the elusive 300+ yard drives. To me, nothing short of miraculous. I’ve tried just about everything including Moe and S&T. Per Homer Kelley there’s over a million ways to advance the ball; Mike’s way is but one way but nothing yet has ever made me so accurate, consistent and unbelievably long. PenguinGolf.

Hey Bren, admired your vids for a while and am 99% self taught but yourself, Dr Kwon and AMG. Still progressing, it's a long journey. A little question and maybe some insight from your time with Dr K. He advocates a strong shoulder and hip turn in the back swing, massively different to top tour players (not that I'm going to be one but a good marker none the less). There's greater separation, shoulders-hips, in good player back swings. The question is, did he leave you with the swing thoughts that the torso and hips turn as close to joined as possible? Left hip replacing right hip and looking over left shoulder at ball at top? Keep up the great work, loving it and much better than most! Thanks

At first glance '30 yards more is normal' seems like a bold statement but after watching and engaging with Dr. Kwon's concepts and drills it is easy to see it isn't an exaggeration. So many of his concepts are things I've picked up from working many hours with a well known instructor but Kwon's presentation and application of them is revolutionary for me. It's so easy to become static when working on adjustments but his coaching melts all that away.

Those guys know how to start downswing with correct trigger move, even with slow backswing. Dr Kwon shows this move at 11:50. It is that small forward lateral motion of left side. Zen golf has been on the channel a couple times already via zoom

@@daonetru ok - found the Zoom Session. That wasn't great. But I guess Zen Golf has new training tools. Maybe you should check them out. I ordered a pack and hope it will come this week. It all circles around the forces and timing - just as Dr. Kwon. I am excited to test them out myself - especially after watching the Dr. Kwon Sessions at BeBetter Golf ;-)

Not letting the hips open early is a game changer. Hearing we need a coach to improve the process is disheartening. Most of us don’t have $500+ for these evaluations, your thoughts?

I’ll make a video about this. Start doing the drills and listen for the smoothness. Doable just takes a lot longer

Is it $500 for each lesson or a series of lessons from Dr Kwon?
@gordontucker0552 жыл бұрын
@@BEBETTERGOLF thanks. Been doing them since first video. Just like you did have issues with getting lead leg step earlier in swing. Enjoy this series. I’m new to your channel

Contact Shawn Clement in Canada ... He's exactly teaching all what we've seen from Dr. Kwon. :)

But Shaw Clement has that ugly lead hip thrust on the downswing, not even close to Dr Kwon.

Shouldve asked him how to prevent early extension as thats one of the most common flaws in most swings
