My handyman skills, currently, border nonexistent. With that said, I appreciated this simple video. It was informative (Milwaukee owes you some free tools). It was to the point and concise. It was void of pretentious overtone. Lastly, #11 should've been "great reflexes" exemplified with the smooth save of the wrench at 2:53. 👍🏾

I am considering becoming a Handy Man here in Middle Tennessee. I will be gathering up all my tools and taking inventory soon. But most of my tools are hand-me-downs and in need of some TLC. The truck I have will do for a short while as it is manual transmission and NO power steering. Also, No heater or air conditioner. Oh, And the exhaust is falling off. It's a good old 1972 Chevy pickup truck.

You might look into a headlamp instead of a flashlight. I wouldn't use them for years because I thought they looked stupid but after using one for a short time, it became a must have tool. The light is always where you need it and you never lay it down and have to search for it.

I live in Edmonton , Alberta , Canada . ( about 6 hours north of the Montana border .) I am not a Handyman . In fact , I am not even "handy". I commented because I am always surprised at the number of tools it takes to do many jobs . I just did a simple drywall repair where I used 14 tools and types of material . ( framing square , pencil , drywall saw , utility knife , speed square , circular saw , measuring tape , power drill , drywall knives(2) , spackle, drywall tape , drywall , 1 by 4 pine backing boards )

Nice catch at 2:53! Hey go to home Depot, or get on the website, for $200 you can get the Milwaukee 9.0 high output battery, charger, and 7-1/4 circular saw!! That's $50 cheaper than when I bought that combo 2 weeks ago! Milwaukee is the best! On Amazon you can find Carhartt bags. I use the Carhartt satchel/briefcase looking bag for my paperwork, laptop, office today stuff. I recommend a quality set of knee pads or kneeling pad. "It's a party and a flashlight!" Lol

I agree with the tool bag, it's probably my go to on site because I load it out during size up to have everything I might need with me in the work zone. I'm doing alot of furnace cleanings right now with my business, and oil furnaces are extremely messy! Instead of tracking through the customers house multiple times, I just toss in what I need for the job to my bag(vacuum, multimeter, filters, rags, ect) then after I've completed that job I'll reload or toss the old dirty stuff in to be disposed. Today is actually my only day this week completely off(I work a full time job as well as my business on the side), so I ended up running errands and restocking supplies for my business. I've got a new client who wants me to come out tomorrow and give a few estimates for them, they are landlords in who rent to university students and they want me as maintenance basically.

I really like your video's. Thought I'd mention that the hammer that you showed is a rip hammer as it has a straight claw and and usually heftier and is very good at ripping wood and other materials apart. A claw hammer has a curved claw which allows it to have more leverage when removing nails. I am an old man who through necessity has been my own handyman for years. Seeing your videos has almost made me want to go into the handyman business. I already have all of the Milwaukee tools except for the vacuum. All I've got to figure out is how a 77 year old is going to climb the ladders to get to those pesky gutters.

I loved this. I am not in the Handyman business. Nor am I a Handyman. Actually, I know almost nothing about how to fix stuff, but I live in a big house, just retired and thought it would be fun to learn correctly... from the right people and from the VERY beginning. There's probably a great way to even hammer in a nail that pros know and beginners don't. I LOVE your site! You are so fun to watch. But, I think the focus of your channel is too advanced for me. My question is: Is there a KZbin site you can suggest that you think would help me? (You'll be building another whole pack of people to come to your channel after we learn more!) thanks :)

While that bag is good for bigger items (saws, drills etc.) it's terrible for multi tool storage that is required for handyman work. If you add up the time you spend "digging" for tools you'll find that investing in a nice tool bag like Veto Pro Pac will actually save you time/money and you'll look way more professional as well.

CavemanJoe I use the ballistic nylon bags for pencils, pens, Sharpies, single edge scraper, cheater plugs. Quit using them for the other stuff as I find the plastic storage cases with the bins work better for me at this point in my career. Primarily use Festool Systainers & Makpacs, but also use the bin cases from Stanley, Milwaukee and Ridgid. The Ridgid milk crates are fantastic for all sorts of odds and ends and they stack up and lock into each other as well.

For your typical handyman level jobs any brand will really do fine. Heck harbor freight lithium tools will work just fine for driving wood screws and small jobs. I use makita myself, but also have a black and decker matrix set that is cheap enought to leave in a truck, has a saw, jigsaw, sander, sawzaw and drill all in one tool for minimum space and even that does most small honey do projects a handyman would need.
