Sorry, but no on the JR railpass. It's not beneficial for most tourists. Do not follow this advice and run over to buy the pass. Rather, use their calculator to see if it's worthwhile to your needs.

@ I would beg to differ. I can understand that if you want to stay in Tokyo for most of the time, then yes, a pass would not be beneficial. However, Japan is more than Tokyo and Kyoto, and a pass would make your trip more worth while. There is a reason why this pass is only available for foreigners.

​@TakenByJapan sure, I know that. I'll be visiting Fukuoka, Kagoshima and even Takayama, and much more aside from the big cities. I filled in the calculator, and with my massive trip, only the 7-day pass was worth it. But I'd think it's insane to do all of that in just 7 days. The longest pass available is 21 days, and I'm there for almost 40 days. That's why I warn people: do not just run and get the pass like you claim. Any other video or forum will tell you the same; the pass is almost never worthwhile.

bruh.. jr pass is not a must .. we will be travelling all the time for 2 weeks.. and it will not cost 80,000 yens

You can disagree with the MUST-BUY part, but I helped my friend get one a little while ago, and it cost 80,000 yen.
