5:10 can totally relate 😂. I am from mountains myself, my house is almost at 3000 meters, yet I never say I am use to cold, I don't need many warm layers, yet I see many trekkers usually from Delhi ( please don't get offended 😅) literally come in shorts n later they regret 😂

@roopar15494 жыл бұрын
Hi Spoorthy Yes a down jacket is definitely warm. But I would recommend you carry a padded jacket. They tend to be cheaper. Along with the padded jacket, take 2 layers of fleece - they keep you super warm and are light too!

Hi Punitha, All high altitude treks (climbing above ~9,000 ft) pose the risk of AMS but there ways you can reduce your chances of getting altitude sickness. You can get to know about it here: indiahikes.com/prevent-altitude-sickness

Hello Indiahikes I'm interested in doing winter trek in future..but I'm afraid of thunder cold..but today suddenly it strike me that you also can suggest to your clients that we can use hair dryer that works on battery in tents when it's unbearably cold and just take some hot dry air on our body through the opening of our t- shirt, pants to get some relief from severe cold . Did you find my suggestion useful....please reply me whatever you thought about my suggestion. And I'm definitely interested in doing winter trek with Indiahikes in future...
@Indiahikes3 жыл бұрын
Hi Yogita, while the thought sounds inviting, weight and volume are two big things that worry trekkers. Carrying a hair dryer is excess weight and volume is a bag, and its unnecessary. If you're layered up well enough, you'll be able to tackle any kind of cold, including the -20 and -22 degrees on the Chadar trek. It just needs wise layering
@yogitaankalikar94653 жыл бұрын

What about if i take a good warm leather jacket on snow trek??
@Indiahikes4 жыл бұрын
Use a padded jacket Pulkit. Leather jacket is not meant for trekking. Your external jacket forms an essential layer to keep you warm on any Himalayan trek, especially on winter or high-altitude treks where temperatures fall to -5° and lower. For this, padded jackets are the best

I have a problem of sinus, can I go for winter trek?
@Indiahikes4 жыл бұрын
It depends on how bad your sinus gets and what triggers it. We would recommend you to check with your doctor before you come on trek. Generally, our trekkers with sinus problems trek fine. You just need to layer up and carry your medication with you :)

@Indiahikes3 жыл бұрын
It does help when you're feeling weak. But it's not completely necessary. Avoid packaging as much as possible. Simply squeezing some lemon into your drinking water will also work wonders!

Another myth: You don't need to drink water in a winter trek!
@roopar15494 жыл бұрын
Very true Ramana! We must hydrate regularly no matter the weather. On a high altitude trek, you will sweat and lose water. With every breathe you are letting out water content from the body. So it is imperative to hydrate on a trek.

Whenever you guys speak of layering; only the upper half of the body is spoken of. Don’t we need to layer the lower half of the body ?
@Tanmay.s6892 жыл бұрын
we do need to layer up lower half but not too tightly as it can make trekking harder, i usually take 2 layers for the lower body 1st a fleece base layer, a really lightweight and soft one and the top layer which is wind and snow proof, after trekking for a while it usually gets warmer in the legs but make sure to use proper woolen socks and insulated shoes, you'll be just fine :D

@Indiahikes2 жыл бұрын
Hi Prash, We don’t have pets on our treks, however you will find local dogs accompanying you on the trail. The temperatures are really harsh and most city dogs would find it very hard to withstand. Besides, the local shepherd dogs are not very welcoming to other animals. If you like going on short hikes, we have put together a list of pet friendly trails that you can take your dog on - indiahikes.com/dog-friendly-hiking-guide
