how about a video about electric kick bikes that can actually be ordered please?
@dalvenable3313 жыл бұрын
Designing and building electric bikes is my hobby, and to date I have built about 35 different rides. Mainly I build electric bikes for folks to get back and forth to work and such. I always wanted a kick scoot because to me standing up while riding is more fun but most kick scooters out there look like Death on a Stick! not to mention the decks looked like one of my flip flops. Being the Widgit I am I was put to task, and started designing a fun, fast, strong, on and off road, SAFE electric kick scooter. Schwinn makes a great dog running kick scooter, 26in front and 20in rear large sweeping frame ( but still using my flip flops for a deck) I added an E-Bikeling 36v 500w planetary geared (front hub) to the rear drop out which measures the same as the front drop because there is no Free Wheel sprocket on a scooter. I took the wooden flip flop that came with the scooter and used it to stencil bolt holes and front to back measurement and made an 11in x 21in deck with 1/2 in oak ply board. Painted the whole thing gloss black put 1.95 high pressure (white) tires front and back. Gangster! Lol! I also replaced the deck "screws", with bolts and fender washers. Ordered an 36v 14.5ah 750w battery and have in a coffee can bolted to the deck at the base of the down tube, added foam padding and have an easy on and off for my battery and other stuff if needed. I couldn't be happier with the end result. though I could add mountain bike suspension forks I kept the frame and forks as they where but using hi pressure tires at their lowest rate gives a smooth ride and better protects again blow outs. Between the large light frame, light planetary geared hub 500w motor hub and relatively light 36v Li-ion battery, the system is really light put together and with the battery out feather weight. I go 25 miles an hour for 25 miles but use my middle range power setting and go 40 to 50 miles per charge no problem. That was a long test ride. Total cost for one great DIY electric kick scooter comes to $200 for scooter, $335 for motor kit, $110 for Battery, roughly $100 in assorted hard ware and wood. Total of $745.00 . average e-scooter starting at $1500 and don't offer the power or range and you can make it yourself!!!! Many Zip ties die in the making of my bikes, so I always give a moment of silence before the cussing starts!

How about using metal zip ties ?
@dalvenable3312 жыл бұрын
@@privatename542 they are for holding components in place on the donor bikes frame while It is in the designing stage. once your get everything together, you take it apart and clean up the build, paint if you are going to, tape, I do often and reinstall system nice and tight. I generally use hook and loop tape to do final install so I can remove everything later if I find another donor frame better than the first. I have used many Conversion kit on different frames over time what may have started life as a mountain bike is now a cruiser power plant.

Maybe you're a good guy to ask..... Money really isn't an issue for me and I'm on the verge of buying a Kaabo Wolf Warrior. I'm convinced I won't be disappointed.....I've heard they are about as good and reliable as a scooter gets and they are more easily transportable than something like what you're talking about. However, I'm older, and while I want to have fun on trails, I'm not going to do anything crazy. I would think a bike style kick scooter would be more stable than traditional scooters and part of me feels I would be remiss if I didn't build one myself at least for the first go round. Any thoughts? I'm pretty sure I'm familiar with the Schwinn kick scooter you're referring to.

Electric kick bikes are basically oversized scooters for adults that have performance similar to many modern ebikes. Will these ever become generally accepted though? Share your thoughts below!
@flitsies3 жыл бұрын
They would be if they were seen more. My kick bike I turned it into an electric kick bike and people always ask me what it is. In the UK scooters get lots of grief however during the worst grief many police saw me on my kick bike and didn't even take a second look no interest, in their mind only the small wheels scooters seemed to be a problem it seemed. So perhaps if we saw more of these on the streets either they will become the new problem or they will be accepted quicker.
@dalvenable3313 жыл бұрын
Folks see mine and like it alot but are concern about safety, which to me seems to be really good given the size of my wheels and I am only standing a few inches off the ground and can step off any time . actually I like I can wear my winter gear on it and not have a problem operating scooter and it has no real effect on performance. I added a plastic slash shield front of the deck and my feet stay warm and dry.
@flitsies3 жыл бұрын
@@dalvenable331 Yep been meaning to add a splash shield, but yep the only down side to these are that you have to leave them out side when you go on shops. I would say these kick bikes are more stable than most bicycles as you say you can easily just step off unlike a bike.
@rxonmymind83622 жыл бұрын
They need much more power. Then I'll buy one. One that can go 45mph because I know from experience on my scooter the Ninebot Max once it gets to 40% battery it tanks going uphill and I'm doing 12mph/20kmh. It's not good for the wheels to work that hard. I'm not a light guy at 240lbs. So more speed is needed not necessarily for speeds sake but as a baseline on the battery life and strength at 50%. This way I'll know I can still go 20mph at 50% battery life.

Here in the UK our government (both national and local) has utterly failed to address the E-scooter phenomena... apart from approved 'trial' rental schemes they are illegal to own/ride off your own private land. We have a rich history of clever innovations used to skirt around the old 'Moped' laws written for motorised bicycles but evolving into 50cc motorbikes/scooters. I really want to ride my own stand-up motorised scooter and am toying with the idea of converting a street legal moped and carefully ensuring I keep all of the legal requirements in place. I can not find a requirement to have a seat. I suspect I would soon get sick of being pulled over by every police officer in the city with brilliant twists on why I can't ride 'that thing' on the road. So I would boldly name it Mobility Scooter and remove all manufacturers marks. That way an officer in court would have to explain why he took this 64 year olds mobility scooter away.

Wow. The battery pod location of the TI1 is.......absolutely terrifying. Hoping to see some actual footage of the upcoming Pipegun#1 from Tozz Bike out of Turkey. If the chromoly welds on the geometry can actually hold up. Closest concept I've seen yet to a legit, no-frills, OG BMX Scooter. I need at least 1 true BMX e-Kickbike to balance my eBike garage.

Yep I think if these had come along before the small wheel scooters no one would be complaining about scooters, these are much more stable and better to ride, I have a home build version it rides really well compared to my small wheel scooters, but the one thing you can't do is take them in shops or on public transport unlike the small wheel scooters can. So they are more like e bikes than scooters. They do ride nice though but they need more power to make them viable. If you had a 500 watts version it would struggle 750 watts does better and a 1000 watts is probably ideal minimum, the 750watts gets up to power but the 1000 watts gives you more acceleration. Very stable machines and fun to ride.

Hello, thanks for your feedback. You are absolutely right. These are more comfortable for commuting than any traditional escooter.
@flitsies3 жыл бұрын
@@Datacube and they actually look nicer I think. But the reason why the small wheel scooters is so popular is its flexibility. These would compete against ebikes mostly. But yep I think if these had come along first people would see them more favourably on scooters. But I have as I said found this to be extremely stable to ride, the only down side to them even the non powered versions is the price, they are often way over priced, get the price down and they may become more popular, high prices exclude people from taking the risk of purchasing, normal scooters are very cheap, these big wheel scooters are expensive.

I think an e scooter/kick bike with a 700c front wheel, 700x35c tire 407(20") rear wheel, maxxis Hookworm rear tire. Hydraulic disc brake front & rear. 1500w 30mph motor in rear wheel. 48v battery in front of the rear wheel would be an amazing commuter vehicle. Good road manners, stability and stopping distance etc.

Would these be more stable than traditional scooters because of the bigger wheels and wider handlebars? I'm strongly considering a Kaabo Wolf Warrior, and know those are very stable for a traditional scooter, but I wonder if the bike style scooter would be more stable than that?

Using this scooter for short commutes is the way to go, as it makes it really fun. kzbin.infoUgkxvyNuxpWiHTNypxG6nyqyf7ywc7Q16PDM Both the levels of speed it allows you to use are very fun, though 20mph can get pretty scary on bad roads. It makes a cool electric sound as it is accelerating. The battery life is also pretty impressive, as I can go anywhere around me within a ~10 mile radius and back home with a full charge. I expected the tires to feel somewhat like a toy, but it is legit, and has pretty good grip on surfaces. Braking on this scooter is also really fun, since you can even do a little drifting if you break hard. The wheels on the scooter are definitely very high quality, as they are wide and well sized. The entire scooter is pretty high quality too. I have fallen on it a couple times because I was being a little reckless, and the scooter still works perfectly fine, with some minor scratches on the sides. I found the brake lights to be very cool as well, since they flash when you brake.
