Nintendo has never done the whole PlayStation thing when it comes to naming their consoles the only three Nintendo consoles that feature numbers in their names are the Nintendo 64 (Named for its 64 bit processor) and the Nintendo 3DS (Named because it had stereoscopic 3D) and the Nintendo 2DS (Named because it was the 3DS without the stereoscopic 3D)

No. Having multiple screens makes it more difficult for 3rd party developers to port games to all consoles. I have no interest in having a WiiU2. While I loved my WiiU and still play it to this day, there’s not a single 3rd party developer that wants to develop for multiple screens. Developers can make games in a unique way if they want you to change orientation of the console in handheld mode, but they should not develop 2 screens again. And I do believe they’ll have backwards compatibility - it really makes sense. And in that case, they don’t need to rush to make sequels to games that are already out (like a new Mario kart game, for example). I’d like them to make “next gen” games, though, that are only compatible with Switch 2 - kind of like when they made the 3DS and New 3DS - OR even better, have the same game, but optimized profiles for whether you’re playing it on Switch or Switch2.

Backwards Compatibility for the Switch 2 isn’t going to be a rumor, it going to be a fact at this point. What other Nintendo consoles had Backwards Compatibility? The Wii with GameCube games, the DS with GBA games, the WiiU with Wii games and the 3DS with DS games. So the Switch 2 is going to get Backwards Compatibility.

My essentials are backwards compatibility (including from the eShop, which also means a unified eShop), better controllers and sticks (I got my first Xbox this generation, and I feel horrible going from the Series controller back to the joy-cons), and a good price point. More powerful hardware is a given, so what I expect as the bare minimum is that the "old Switch games" receive a slight performance boost when being played in the new console

It will probably be at Xbox One level or even a bit lower to keeping it being affordable. It will still be huge upgrade over the original even if it's "only" at Xbox One level. Don't forget that Steam Deck exists and it costs a lot despite being below base PS4 level and just has 800p. So don't get disappointed if it ends up a lot of weaker. Also don't forget those "leaks" and rumors of NX which were a lot more powerful than PS4 but instead it ended up 5x-6x weaker than PS4

This is an idiot talking. The factory tegra x1 from the switch has 42℅ of Xbox one gpu strength (512 vs 1200 gfloop).but Nintendo downclocked it. The switch 2 will be considerably better

The reason why they called it the Switch is because of the device's ability to be both a home console AND a handheld that you could move from one mode to the other on the fly. When Nintendo released the Switch Lite, however, it didn't have the dock but kept the name due to the OG model's ongoing commercial success. That one shouldn't even be a thing cause it lost 50% of what made it a hybrid console in the first place JUST because parents don't want to shell out too much money on a console their kids will end up playing it in handheld more, which is why we got that model. IF the successor is indeed another hybrid console, then they SHOULD call it the Switch 2, or something that COULD make sense when the eventual dock-less Lite model will come out lol.

Definitely hoping what's on this list (mostly) is true. Also hoping local wireless communication on the new switch connects with the old switch for multiplayer. I could care less about themes lol. They are nice at first and then I forget about it and just play games. EDIT: LAN cable port built in. And for the love of God better net code for all the games!!!!

If Nintendo announces a new Smash Game for the new console, they should update some of the characters including Sonic and Link so they are based off of their current games including Sonic Frontiers and Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

4k isn't needed. I would rather have 1080p, 60fps for all games on both TV mode and Handheld if it's a Switch 2. And if it has backward compatibility, Switch 1 games like BOTW/TOTK should get a free upgrade to play them at 1080p, 60fps.

My joycons were good for about a year and useable for another year. Eventually it got so bad that they’d try to connect while I used a pro controller. Had to let the batteries die. So joycon drift is a priority fix. I’ve predicted Prime 4 dual release for a while, but also a remake out remaster of an old Zelda game. WW or Twilight being most likely

New Original IP introduced with the system by Nintendo like they did with Splatoon. I also wouldn't mind Nintendo focusing on other IP that haven't had proper attention in a while or using one that has a new approach. Like a Mushroom Kingdom Warriors.

It appears to be a cut down RTX 3050 mobile GPU, so, a theoretical RTX 3030. Which sounds bad right ? Puts it about on par with an RX 580, which is the PS4 Pro. Almost spec for spec. But, however, unlike the PS4 Pro, it will have access to DLSS as well as RT features… and these RT cores, however few they have, are still better than XBSX/PS5 RT cores by MILES. Probably as good as PS5 Pro, and probably still a bit better even. Just not nearly as many of them.

it won't be backwards compatible since the Switch wasn't. Fans need to stop assuming that it will be capable of playing Switch games. Legends ZA is a switch game. Not a Switch 2 game. Switch 2 doesn't need to come out until November 2025. The Switch 2 is never going to be more powerful than a PS4

It will be more powerful because the tegra x1 FROM 2015 has 512 gflops to ps4 1800 gflops. The tegra x1 is the chip in the SWITCH 1(albeit downclocked). The switch came out 7 years ago

It has a hard time running xenoblade chronicles 2 and 3 at 720p docked. Age of calamity dips under 25fps. They can't even have a console powerful enough to meet their promises.
