Thanks. I had the idea when I saw one hanging on the wall at a restaurant. I thought... hmmm... that resembles a guitar but its too long.

@musicalmiscellany Yeah, I build basses and guitars. Also percussion stuff. I never even thought about how easy it would be to make a lap steel. I am definitely gonna do that.

I LOVE your bass. That really rocks. Lyres are cool. I've made three -- one from a discarded one-inch pine shelf (with plywood soundboard), one from an old cutting board (this one is just scooped out, no soundboard) and one from a 3/4 inch plywood corner from a kitchen remodel that looks a little more like a harp. Guitar tuning pegs for ease or retuning.

Being of the fretless variety, it requires a good ear for when the note you’re playing is in pitch or not. But as was mentioned, all of the strings have their own tuners. All standard orchestral violins, violas, cellos and basses all have tuners and are fretless. But even guitars and such come in fretless varieties!

I feel good about buying kits now I struggle on my own building but like trying the pizza paddle and the 2x4 lap Steele are cool the little box for sound effects way beyond my building ability

Thanks for watching the video. DIY can be as simple or complex as you want. Kits are great for learning how things work and honestly... several of my favorites are kits. As you get more comfortable, try some of your own designs. Just make sure you always have fun doing it.

Thanks for watching. I actually made that drone box from 2 kits. One kit that was designed to be a delay circuit and another with 3 oscillators. It's not as difficult as you think but yeah... not a beginner task either.

That's a good suggestion. If I was to create a harp, I'd probably try to figure out a way to put geared tuners on it because zither pins are just annoying to tune.

i just made my first instrument i made a shaker out of a whiskey bottle. I got a pretty good sound out of it. Now I want to make something else. I really want a jarmageddon but its sold out online :(
