is that the same 2.0 in the cobalt? the cobalt ss turbo 2.0 made like 260 hp stock. I've been in a 9-3 that had the cobalt 2.0 making about 300-325 hp. it was pretty quick.

The Honda K20A & F20C, and the Subaru EJ20 & FA20 are truly awesome engines. I totally am a fan of their tunability, reliability and sound (especially with modded exhaust). But my favourite is the Mitsubishi 4G63T. It takes tunability, reliability and sound to yet another level. It's one of my very favourite engines.

The stock exaust of the TSI destroy the sound, it makes it boring as fuck, with direct flow 2.5 or 3" exaust it gets way better, but still it will never be like the SR20 madness wich for me it has the best sound among the engines on the list

Few engines that I feel are good candidates also: BMW N47D20 diesel, 220hp and 330lb*ft. Nissan RB20DeT straight 6, 212hp and 195 lb*ft with an amazing sound. Mazda KF-DE 60° v6, not huge power but sounds great too

Got myself a Gt86 as Well mate, I always was quite doubtful since stock the engine is fun, but really weak, but I made a complete Overhaul with the Cosworth parts and wrote new software, now it has proper power and is extremely agile when revving it. Love it. I Also have a complete new Suspension by KW and 380mm Brembos at the front.

I miss my S2000 so much sometimes. Bought it with 2k miles in 2004 when I wasn't broke and it already had a ceramic coated header and stainless exhaust. It was yellow but I grew to live that yellow thing. I especially loved when people mistook it for a Miata at the light :)

Hi Visio, good to see you included the Cosworth. GM (Government Motors as we call them now) made a series of mistakes in the 60s and 70s. One mistake with the Vega model car was the silicon-aluminum engine block. There were no steel liners in the engine and it had a short life between overhauls. Sharp do-it-yourselfers back in the day could have a block sleeved or you could order a newly manufactured block that had the steel cylinder sleeves. You could buy a nice body with dead/dying engine for cheap and put together a great economical ride. Isn't this sad when you see what Cosworth technology could do to this simple little four banger. Once again, GREAT VIDEO man.

I'm writing to you because you are the only guy that can remember about italian cars from '90s, which are a bit forgotten for a not really high quality level of the interior. Great video Visio, and a really complete list. Not too many to be added - I think the M50/52 by BMW was left off due to the relatively low power output compared to others on the list, the same can be said for Mazda's MXR 2.0 (MX-5 3rd gen.). However, there's no sign of Toyota's 3S-GE (Altezza/Lexus IS200) or 3S-GTE (MR2) - the latter had strong power and decent torque.

Kudos for mentioning the Alfa Twin Spark, it's indeed a one which loves to rev high. And yes, reliability is one of the main issues. My sister has a 156 with the 2.0 TS. The car hadn't been used for about 3 or 4 weeks, and one day I decided to start the car up to make sure everything is okay. Guess what, crank-no start. I can't figure out the issue. Initial thought was that the engine is flooded, but I'm not quite sure about that. Well, gotta get the car running before my sister gets home from her trip 🤔😂

Greetings from South Africa. I think the BMW M20,B20 M50B20 vanos and M52B20 from the 320i and 520i are great 2 litre engines for their straight 6 sound as well as being small at the same time.

You forgot to mention the "Saab B204". The last engine that Saab actually made before GM took over. Only 205bhp in factory tune. But the engine is Cast Iron, with all forged components, and can be taken to 450-500bhp just by fitting bigger turbos and injectors. They will run at this power all day long, for years on end. Mapping these things is free, since Saab T5 is now open source with the aid of "T5 Suite".

RB20DET inline 6 is the greatest driving experience 2.0L can offer. The sound is intoxicating, great low end torque, and with titanium springs and retainers it will rev above 9K.

I've got 20vt engine on a Lancia and it's fkng perfect for normal driving and safe overtaking. Just have to get better bearings and seals for the turbo, as factory TB28 is prone to oil leaks on the hot side even short after regeneration.

That was a good video man how about doing one about engine locations? From the point of view of handling balance, as an example BMW FR engines are located behind the front axle where as Audi engines are located in front of the front axle. The BMW has perfect 50/50 weight distribution and excellent handling balance and the Audi has for a number of years had a poor reputation for ponderous understeer with the exception of the fantastic R8.

Might not be the best sounds but pretty hard fault for such quick gear changes and keeping in a good torque range. Actually deceptive quick for what they are.

Sgt. Gunny oh yea, the shift changes are incredibly snappy with virtually zero boost loss. I've noticed from a stoplight, I'll get out in front of people substantially faster with normal acceleration purely because the shifts happen so fast. There's no "down time" between gears.

My first car was a 1997 infinity G20t and they had sR20's in them. For an average little luxury car back in the day it was pretty quick. The Rev limiter didn't start until 8,000 so u could keep your foot in it all day

It was also used in Lancia Kappa, both NA and turbo. But it's irrelevant because once again visioracer made a massive mistake by not mentioning the Fiat/Lancia 2.0 16v turbo which powered the Delta Integrale and helped it gain six consecutive world Rally championship titles. It was much stronger than the inline five 20V, tunable with racing pistons, conrods, bigger turbochargers, ALS, water spray intercooler, etc. up to astronomical horsepower figures, without losing durability of the block (700 horsepower? not a problem, see hillclimb racer Felix Pailer). The Mitsubishi 4g63 was very much influenced by this motor.

The Cosworth YB proved itself in the Grp. A touring car series. The Cosworth competed against the Skyline GTRs, E30 M3 Evolutions, the Mercedes Benz 190 Evolutions.

Not a mention of the Ford DOHC? overbuilt so much it'll never break, more modern than the YB, plenty of torque and was used with much success in the Sierra Cosworth 4x4. Definitely one of the best engines Ford made, especially the YB wasnt exactly a full fledged-production engine.

Not a very well known engine as it's technically a race spec engine but the VKG 2.0 Rover K series engine is extremely powerful for it's weight. Up to 300 HP naturally aspirated from an engine that weighs less then 90kg's. Expensive though. There is also a Judd and Wilkox 2.0 K series engine as well. The Standard 1.8 VVC K series engine is also a great engine you you look after it and maintain it properly otherwise it will let you down.
