I’ve been to the Bahamas, it’s fine you probably won’t get eaten by a shark but let me just tell you a little story, we lived in Florida for a few years, on the East Coast just south of Kennedy space Center, I had a window treatment made and the decorator offered me a ride in his friends helicopter up to Jacksonville and back, and the friend was the pilot for the local news channel, he flew the weather reporter around and they did surfing news. anyway so It was only about an hourish round-trip. I kept seeing all these gray blobs everywhere, just all over, near people, far away, just all over so finally I asked the pilot you know what are those, I’m from the Midwest what do I know.. so he looks over his shoulder and shrugged and said sharks, I don’t get in the ocean anymore. @missy loves emeka No. Very few shark attacks are accidental or provoked. There are test bites to see if the object is edible; shark attacks are an intended meal. Either way, the shark bite, or attack, can end abruptly as the shark may not find the object tasty or edible. In either case, the object can be severely wounded or killed. So, are shark bites, or attacks accidental? No. The shark either intended on tasting the object first (via bite), or the shark intended on devouring the object no matter what (via attack). Do they misidentify the object when biting or attacking? Possibly, but not often.

However, now with the internet and social media, there's plenty of sharks getting caught either on camera or in fishermen's nets very close to the shore. Honestly yes I would go diving in a cage even if the shark broke through it while I was in it. Like the diver I would just remain calm. Sharks very rarely attack people and when they do its usually due to mistaking them for seals. Honestly if I get attacked when being in THEIR territory then it's my fault. It makes me sad that sharks have been demonized so much. Although I pity those who have been attacked we shouldn't blame the victim OR the animal. They're just doing what they were made to do. We have to adapt to keep ourselves safe- not execute an entire species because of a few accidents.
@ghostcraft33702 жыл бұрын
I should also add even sharks attack people they commonly LET GO when they realize it isn't a seal. Sure shark attacks happen but from my understanding it is even less likely to die from actually being eaten by the shark. You're more likely to die from blood loss or infection.

Every time you go into the ocean you need to understand that you are swimming with sharks. The ocean is their home not ours and with over 500 shark species in our oceans, they are everywhere. You need to remain alert of the area you are in. For example, if there are seals in the water, the preferred food of larger sharks, get out of the water. Don’t go in the water at dawn or dusk, the preferred hunting times of sharks but remember sharks are opportunistic hunters and Hammerheads, Mako, and Great White Sharks are always swimming. Avoid wearing yellow, white, or even bathing suits with contrasting colors, like black and white. Don’t wear bright colored nail polish. Be wary of sand bars and any place rivers empty into the sea. If fishing is happening where you are, don’t go in the water. If someone on the beach is flying a drone over the water, go talk to them. Have they seen any larger sharks in the area? Respond accordingly. If you are on your period, stay out of the water even if using a tampon. If you become aware a shark is circling you, try to maintain eye contact with the shark. Sharks prefer to engage in surprise attacks. Even if you stay in groups, even when you remain alert, an attack can happen. If possible fight for all you can. Hit the shark’s nose, try to gouge the shark’s eyes…FIGHT. Again when you go in the ocean, you are in the sharks’ home, you are swimming with sharks.

Those facts are wrong for the Eastern United States. We have a seal population. Once the seal became protected from being hunted and the population became bigger, more whites showed up. Whites have always been here. Also with the restrictions on waste in the harbors and bays the whites states coming in closer. We also just found out that from south jersey to almost Maine is popping grounds for the great whites. We have a great white nursery. It's always been there. Just wasn't healthy with over fishing noise and pollution. Now with laws and regulation the overall sea life has rebounded. I would not be surprised if a pod of orcas show up next. Usually after a while with seals and sharks and other types of fish, orcas will eventually show up. The orcas on the west coast finally had babies, all thanks to covid 19. Which was bad for humans. With the shut down all over the world. The oceans finally had quiet and less traffic and more food. So the pods fattened up and did what orcas do and now have q few babies. SO with that in mind we humans need to do things better for the animals when animals are doing good so do humans. All wild life bounced back or did better with the shut down. SO scientists and government need to look at the facts and do something different. If we don't we will lose our wildlife both on land and in the oceans, even the honey bees did better. Those honey bees die so does every living being on this planet. Well except cockroaches. Those thing will Live through any thing. Yucky bugs. I know they are needed but still yucky disease caring bugs. So gross,

The story about Shannon Ainslie is completely inaccurate. I suggest folks search KZbin for the true story of his shark attack.

Was that first 'shark attack' even a attack....?

I bet those sharks in the Bahamas that come to the beach with the swimming Pigs will occasionally "snack" on a 🐷 or two🐖🐗 when hungry....

I would go cage diving if the bars were concrete and titanium

I have a rule. I will only go into the water at the beach up until the water reaches a little bit below my knees. I will NOT go too far out. you never know, a shark could swim up to the shore to catch seals, seagulls etc... and you could get bitten in the process

I have been in a cage that got attacked by a great white. The shark broke the bars and attempted to grab the river with me. The shark got his arm but only ripped the tissue after the cage was brought up the people on the boat asked if I wanted to go again. I was 13 and very much said no.

How about using Shark repellents. Or Electronic gadgets that send out frequencies that keep sharks away. Diving with a steal shark proof suit. Or diving with a knife or a spear maybe a spear is better because it has more reach and you don't have to stab it necessarily you can block his bite with it. Once a huge tiger shark circled my surfboard 4 or 5 times in Florida about 18 years ago when I was 12. But I was able to get away as soon as it went 3 or 4 meters away i paddled quickly to the shore. After that I didn't go in the water for a year and the whole next summer I brought a diving knife with me I was terrified for a couple of years.

I think it’s so sad when people die because nobody thought to put a tourniquet on the wound to stop the bleeding.

I have gone snorkeling in 20 feet of water in key west , saw a 4 for nurse shark near the same on the bottom. I stayed in the surface giving it space, cool to see.

Key west also has lemon sharks and hammerheads in deeper water off the dock.

I do not play with king Cobras nor do I put my head in lions mouths , so why the hell would I go to swim in the ocean where there have been some truly vicious shark attacks. Aussie is known for its gentle great whites lol NOT!
@MrGgkirke2 жыл бұрын
Cobras are fun to play with and Aussies must have the best survival instincts on the planet since everything there wants to kill you

Important to know that only some sharks test humans for prey, rarely consuming them. Although, I know of two species of shark that consume human as prey. Anyone know who they are?
@ghettoprincess_802 жыл бұрын
Great Whites and Tiger sharks have both been known to completely consume humans before. However I personally believe that Bull sharks and Oceanic Whitetips are the scariest because they are both really aggressive species.

They say because of global warming the sharks been hanging out closer to the shore. It is their turf. You're swimming at your own risk.

Hell no I don't temp fate. Sharks are unpredictable, and very strong.pools work for me .
@mattsweatt852 жыл бұрын
Stop saying that attacks are rare. They are a common occurrence. Marine Biologists water down fatality percentages by adding ALL sharks among the three major man-eaters Great White, Tiger, and Bull. You don't get fatality percentages by adding house cats to lion attacks on humans so why would you do it with sharks?
