When my daughter, now 34., was in 7th grade, a schoolmate of hers disappeared from a store half a block from her home. No trace was ever found. Seeing these cold cases getting solved gives me a tiny hope that maybe someday, we will know what happened to Laura Ayala on March 10, 2002 in Houston,TX. Thank you to all the investigators who work so diligently on a seemingly endless task in order to bring closure to the bereaved.

My uncle was murdered as he was selling ice cream from his ice cream truck about 10 yrs ago and no one has been arrested. The sad part is he didn’t have to work, he did it more or less as a hobby after retiring. A lot of times he would give the kids with no money a small cup of free ice cream or take less than the original price. He was gunned down during a hood up while selling ice cream to kids…. These give me hope his killer will one day face justice.

I never quite understand why law enforcement would say “it’s too early to file a missing person report”. If someone goes missing, the sooner you can start looking for them with a lot of people, the better.

Statistically, in the '70s and '80s 75-80% of missing persons were actually runaways who returned home within 3 days, especially 15-18 year-olds. It was sad for the 20% who were in jeopardy or already dead, but money for the police has never been an infinite amount.

If I remember correctly, that law has been changed to where you can now report someone missing immediately after you notice their absence. There’s no longer a 24-48 hour waiting period because the victim could be dead in that time frame of it was a kidnapping situation. The change to this law went into effect on Jan 1, 1986. I’m not sure what case made it change, but from what I looked up, it was the case of Cara Evelyn Knott.

Someone probably told the mother that her daughter died of a drug overdose, and because of her history, and her transient kind of lifestyle, although she had an address, and the men that she usually picked, her mom probably just believed it. And obviously she didn't care about her grandchildren! She never inquired about the younger one, which we still don't know what happened to the baby toddler that she had, and plus the older one, Mikey, that went with her that died! I guess she just didn't care: the grandmother, that is. Or, my sinister mind thinks that maybe the couple gave her a lot of money, and said that Angela fled,-- cuz she actually really did initially leave-- and DID leave her older son-- Oh, you know she left to go to so and so, came back and took Mikey with her ,and so we don't know what happened to her, & the mother just believed it.

Many people, mostly women adopt children to receive money from the government. I watched a video where a woman was a temporary care giver was arrested this week. The house was absolutely filthy. The 1 and 2 year old babies hadn’t had their diaper changed or fed in days. I think it was Chicago or Milwaukee. Very sad.

Barbara Krusen told police that Angela, who wanted to move to California, agreed to let the Krusens adopt her son, even signing papers that would enable them to do so. Then she told investigators Angela later told Clarence Krusen she'd had a change of heart about giving up her son, and wanted to come back to get him, so they sent her money to buy a bus ticket so she could come and get the boy. FBI did a polygraph test on Barbara and she failed....And she isn't being charged with anything :O Makes your blood boil :(

The fact that some cold cases aren't solved for decades because there is no budget to analyze the DNA and that private people take it on themselves to come up with money to use genetic genealogy to solve cases or give Jane and John Does their names back... I've seen tons of videos now with genetic genealogy beeing the key in solving crimes recently and I hope this will actually be used much more. Jails will be full with elderly murderers but justice needs to be served no matter what. Nothing more frustrating than finding out the killer lived a long and happy live til they died.

It's not that private people are using money to solve crimes. The general public using "23 and Me" and other family dna stuff that people do for fun (to see what our ancestry may be; ie. ethnicities, relatives, etc), and these places now have the DNA on file. Only recently have police been using DNA from cold cases and been able to compare them to these data bases, since they're a more recent thing.

We have several cold cases in my area and when discussed on Tv or newspaper, a reward fund is usually mentioned. I don't understand why the people involved don't use that money to have genetic genealogy research done? One case involves the ambush murder of a police officer. Perpetrators actually moved a tree trunk onto an off ramp, so whomever came along(most believe he was targeted)had to get out of their car to move it. He was then shot and killed. I heard rumors that human DNA other than Ofc Ellis was on the tree trunk. We also have the savage stabbing murders of a mother and her teen daughter. Surely to Gawd there's foreign DNA at that crime scene!

In 1990 my friends and I were in our early 20's, and we decided to go down to Wildwood in Nj...we all lived in Nj at that time. We visited a few nightclubs and closed the Stardust at 4:00am. I am so sorry for your loss. Unfortunately I do know how you feel as my father was poisoned to death by his second wife. His death was unexpected so tests were run. By the time the results came back she had taken off after she found out she wasn't inheriting much and is still at large almost 11 years later. How true. I always drove myself to my destination and back home. I never depended on anyone else. I never got so impaired that I couldn't drive. It always served me well. I've been the victim of it myself at a young age (I was being beaten and screaming for help, as I laid there after, before I passed out, I saw someone was watching from almost every house. But no one helped, no one even called for help. #15. Edward Surratt. He did two murders in Youngstown suburbs (North Lima, OH) and the one he will not confess to nor say where the body is. Not solved. It was Linda Hamilton. He never confessed where her body is, just that he had killed her, hence the reason he didn't get his request. I used to own the bar Hamilton worked at in prior years, and I live about 1/2 mile from where we think her body was. In a strip mine.

My parents live on the river in Natchitoches parish where the first story takes place. The river is about 4 to 9 feet deep. We were all shocked that the car wasn't found earlier, especially since about 10 years ago the river level was down to about 4 feet.

I would not call it closure if the killer has passed away without ever being arrested. That is called getting away with murder. One larger problem: Over time you will get false positives. This means that innocent people can be decided to be a killer, while being innocent. If they have passed away they will have no chance to show that they are innocent. Of course there will be no incentive anymore to check if they actually are innocent. You have a false positive which means you can close the case. Meanwhile the real killer goes free.

When watching on the first case what was considered a small town with 840 people I remembered that in the town where my grandma was born right now there are less than 100 people who are actually living in a house in the town. Most people who used to live there are now deceased and their sons and daughters use the houses as summer houses (my family included). So small in fact is the town that they only have phone tower, and no Wifi. My grandmas family was the first one to officially own a phone in the town back in the 50s or 60s and you could pay outside their house to make a call. Currently there are no stores, except for a bakery, a church, and a place in which you can rent one of 3 pools to pass the time. There has never been a Seven-Eleven. I found out my great grandfather used to own back in the time the only store that could somehow resemble a 7-11, they sold tools, novelty jewelry, kitchen stuff, sewing equipment, clothes, candy (grandma told me they did, but any evidence that could be is obviously already spoiled) paint and brushes, and stuff like that. Is it even a town if less than 100 people actually reside in it…?

Have mercy, Angie really did know how to pick'em. One is a known method addict and another one is in and out of jail. This is why I always took time to myself after a breakup. Especially if the guy was horrible. I would take time out to reflect and see what I did wrong in choosing this guy? So that I don't repeat my mistake. Yeah that makes sense for people who have options and live in places where the majority of their community members are productive, contributing members of society. This may be a long response and i preemptively apologize for that but i feel its important to explain a little about why she may have been with guys like that. I live near where Angie lived in Arkansas and in the small, rural towns here almost every single person living in them have severe addictions to alcohol,meth, opioids, heroin or a combination of all 4. Those areas, sadly, are predominantly populated by people who fall far below the poverty level, are poorly educated and most don't even finish high school & most girls have at least one child, but most have 2 or 3, before they even turn 18 and even though the dads live in town, too, they typically fall into the dead beat dad category so their children are raised by single moms. You have to understand that in these rural areas there is literally nothing to do to keep children busy and out of trouble which affects not only them but adds stress and financial strain to their already strapped mothers who have to pay to replace broken or stolen property and even bail when the teens get caught stealing, smoking weed or driving under the influence. That's just how it is in areas where that cycle has been repeating itself for generations and will likely continue for many more. In these towns, these young women have dreams of finding a man who look loves them and will give them a better life, they see all that on tv and online so they know better a life exists, they've just never seen what it takes to have that, they don't see sober men who don't abuse their wives and get drunk or get high every night. It's all they know. In a town with a population of 700 or 800 people, there are only so many single guys. Out of those, even less are in the age range desirable to a young woman in her early 20s. This is why we hear of so many women from these small towns hitch their wagons to loser after loser and wind up in horrific situations. Sorry to leave such a long response but i felt it necessary to give a small peek into why/how women like Angie make some of the choices they do.

Hell I can bet Cali alone has produced more money then all of the southern states combined. With a lot of social programs and taxes the standard of living is higher. It kinda makes me thankful that MY neighbours are massive sticky beaks. Just last night they called police when they heard yelling/ screaming coming from my house... I was play fighting my cousin, who had me pinned to the bed & we were both laughing & yelling at each other to stop & at the 3 dogs. Who had joined in barking non stop. So between us yelling, laughing too but obviously not as loud, and the dogs craziness, the neighbours got concerned & police knocked on the door 15 minutes later !¡!¡!

I have an old high school friend that disappeared from New York sometime between Christmas and new years, he was on a holiday trip and vanished into thin air. He’s never been found , dead or alive. I pray all the time that someone finds out what happened and that his family gets some closure. It’s been years, a decade if not more . So sad he was a smart talented kid and a great friend.
