All solar/Lithium batterey products in general. Even between brands. You would think that some type of universal industry standard would be adopted for cabling/connections.

Personally, I like Jackery. Their batteries/cabling/solar panels all work so easy together. I run two, 200 watt portable solar panels if I'm parked for a couple of days, basecamping. I can set them up in minutes. As the day goes on, I can move them to get the best input. Not every trip that you do requires driving for 8/10 hours a day.

Because if they can get you into their charger ecosystem, it costs too much money to switch everything over or at least is inconvenient to have multiple walkie talkies with different charging systems. They like to force you to buy their brand. Apple did it for like 15 years with the iPhone before the EU forced them to go USB C.

The porta potty was interesting - a few years ago there was a porty potty seat available that looked like a regular toilet seat that had a bracket on the back of it that slipped into the receiver hitch on the back of your vehicle. Slip a 5-gallon bucket with a plastic bag liner under it, and you were good to go. (no pun intended) And, as long as you remembered to park your rig with the back of it pointing away from the camp site! And remembered to take the potty seat off when you left camp!

Great video Brad! We have 2 of the Dometic electric water dispensers and they work very well. One feature they have that you did not mention is the led light underneath the spout. This is an excellent helpful feature, especially in low light situations. Surprised you did not mention TrailRecon coffee☕. 😂

Another awesome video Brad. Recovery gear, yes I was one of those guys without enough soft shackles and you got me on it at TRS2, now have 4 in the bag. The domestic water jug, I love mine as well. and those KC lites... yup I won a set a TRS3, need to get them installed... but haven't decided if I want under hood, or chase lights. As always ..great content. Keep up the great work!

I've tried to stop using anything that requires disposable batteries, too many times things have died and I didn't have spares.

One thing I hate about the older Midlands is probably the battery compartment is just a tiny bit too small for rechargeable AA batteries so I end up having to use disposable ones. I gotten into the habit of carrying spare batteries on me with the radios.

@@dougharlow6037- The one he is showing can’t be one gallon less than your typical jerry can. Think about it. Still, not a bad option. Use the small Dometic container for drinking type water, and use the tube to suck out of a bigger container (plastic jerry style) for washing needs.

Regarding the recovery gear, it's acceptable kit, but the question that keeps getting asked and no one really truthfully answers is when was the last time you properly checked your tow bar, mounts and rust status? I've seen a few bars fail and the recovery insert holds up. Why I prefer a direct towbar over a reciever hitch. The rest of the kit is useful, not so sure about the LED lights, but hey, good for something I'm sure. I want to have something to light underneath when laning at night, but will prob make my own as have a load of 1W LED's that I can fit into resin and bolt on the back.

Roof-top tents? Have you done a review of, or have a professional opinion of which rooftop tent is "the best" or which is the least expensive for the best quality? (Most 'bang for your buck?)

Ya, most folks have switch over to GMRS or HAM. CB has its place, but seems most just aren't using it anymore.

I got rid of mine in 2019. Once you experience how much better gmrs or ham is, you won't go back. I have a handheld Midland gmrs, voice quality is much better, I can hop out and spot people, range on my handheld is similar to an amazing cb set up and it has a 3 inch antenna. Instead of a 3-7 foot antenna, but man did a 7 foot whip look good. $90 for 2 handhelds with a charger vs like $300 for a good cb set up.

Why is it that every item shown except the soft shackles is a specific brand name? I know, I know, most of the items are for sale in the TrailRecon store but even older videos before the store had the same thing. My hitch recovery point is generic and costs a fraction of the Factor 55 one. My cases are Sterilite from Walmart, not Front Runner. My LiFePO4 battery is from eBay and costs less than a quarter of that Redarc one. My radio is a Baofeng which has more power than that Midland for less money. My LED lantern is from China (like that one) and I got it off Amazon for $20. I use this great for 100+ nights a year and it's great. All for a fraction of the price. So go to the store and drop some coin so everyone on the trail can admire your gear. I'll use the money I saved for gas.
