Automotive Territory, you were right, I did enjoy this video! This type of approach to performing what I call a "Complete Restification" of a classic body was exactly what I was talking about! This is. .. ( although admittedly on a singular vehicle scale, and on a MUCH SMALLER BUDGET ) the type of modifications that I perform on a vehicle. I have successfully completed that type of build that was a first of its kind , 20 years ago. I still have the truck. It's a 1983 Chevrolet C-20 3/4 ton, 2wd, longbed pickup, that has been retrofitted with the complete wiring harness, PCM, 4 wheel anti lock braking system, electronically controlled heavy duty 4L80e 4 speed automatic transmission , and fuel injected small block Chevy 350 from a 1994 Chevrolet G-30 van. The stock 350 has been upgraded to a 383 stroker small block Chevy engine with a custom hydraulic roller cam, World Products Sportsman Cylinder heads,Edelhrock Performer T.B.I intake, Custom built T.B.I throttle body that houses a pair of 454 spec injectors, and a adjustable fuel pressure regulator, true dual snorkel ram air intake airbox with a K&N filter, full MSD 6AL ignition system, engine/drive train optimization and management is handled by a J.E.T. Technologies custom burned chipset within the factory P.C.M. It has a rebuilt factory housing, heavy duty 14 bolt, semi floating axle truck rearend , with 4:10.1 gears, and a Eaton G80 locking differential. It was never designed to be a show truck, it was actually a experiment that ended up working, lol . I never cosmetically finished it, so it looks like any other Chevy Truck, until you get in it, or look under the hood. On the chassis dyno, it put down 422 H.P. and 447 ft.lbs to the rear wheels. Fully emissions compliant with a 3 inch exhaust system with a high flow catalytic converter and a 40 series Flowmaster muffler. Everything functions as intended, including the anti lock braking system. There's not another one like it on the planet to my knowledge. It is very sparse on the interior options, manual windows and locks, bench seat, no A/C. It's been the most reliable vehicle that I have ever owned. After 20 years of being used as a work truck/tow rig ( I pull a 22 ft. car trailer with it) and living in a crime ridden city, it's got its share of dents and scratches, and it's starting to get a little bit rusty, but as long as the battery is hot, and there's fuel in the tank, it will faithfully fire right up and be able to go! I also have a 1977 Chevy Impala 4 door sleeper car, and a 1986 Chevrolet Camaro. ....but they're 2 completely different stories! Great video, loved it! You just gained another new subscriber! Have a great day!

"Sweat is flowing" while I'M watching this video. I'm sweating like a "pig" -- no........no........that's offensive, let me rephrase that: I'm sweating like a "cop." Sweat through the eyebrows and sweat plumb-the-snuffalopogus through my ears. I'm kind of like "Paulie" in Rocky II. I don't "sweat YOU!" But I sure as a 'cop' DO sweat like there's no yesteryear... Anything you can do, I can do better... You are the "fink-frog," and I am the 'sweater'... If I drove a fast car, it would be 'redder'..... like "Tragic Johnson" a Lakers triple-header.

!!!UPDATE!!! 7-8-9 is not solely based on the Chevrolet Impala design (the first Impala was released in 1958). This car actually represents three model years of Chevrolet in the overall design. The 789 has the “hooded eyes” and chrome grille of a Chevrolet ’57, a mid-section that’s reminiscent of a ’58 Impala and the “bird in flight” rear tailfins of a ’59." We apologize for the initial confusion. Cars used to be better… That’s what many of us have heard over the years. But driving classic cars in modern conditions could be challenging but why can’t you have both classic styling and modern tech? Here are 10 bespoke cars that offer just that. Which one would you get? (if you could handle the price tag, of course).
@Eyes-of-Horus7 жыл бұрын
There was no '57 Chevy Impala. It began in '58. Top of the line for Chevy in '57 was the Bel Aire.
@automotiveterritory7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I will have to look closer into this car. I based the script for the 7-8-9 on the information provided by the manufacturer, here is the quote: "7-8-9 was aptly named for the three years represented in the overall design, the 789 has the “hooded eyes” and chrome grille of a ’57, a mid-section that’s reminiscent of a ’58 Impala and the “bird in flight” rear tailfins of a ’59." This sentence threw me off course. I apologize for the confusion and bow my head to the expert. Will leave a comment update under the video. Once again thank you for your input!

Front is a 1957 bel air, rear is a 1959 bel air. The sides are Mercedes? Way you can tell the rear is a 59 bel air is because there isn’t the chrome strip running up the boot.

Depends on the car really, some cars take to it well others don't. The cars mentioned are quite good examples of sensitive upgrading. As parts become more scarce on post war classics engineers will have to become more creative with their solutions.

@automotiveterritory6 жыл бұрын
It seems that the original things are always better. But most retro cars are destined to become showpieces or vehicles that collect dust in museums. A classic car as a daily driver sounds cool to say the least. But today we have different standards and expectations, so modifying or upgrading old classics is the only way to keep these vehicles on the road.

There will be a ton of jobs for the future in conversions on classic cars. It's already happening and picking up speed. I've seen the Jag, the Porche, the Bug, a BMW, and several others that were "UPGRADED" with battery/motor combo packs and now they don't pollute AND go very very fast...faster than the sluggish engine/transmissions that they were originally equipped with. Not to mention the instant torque AND low center of gravity (better handling).
