This is exactly what the internet should be used for. I wrestled for over 20 years, and just started jui-jitsu last month at the age of 45. I can't get enough of these videos. Thank you for what you do!

can you share your thoughts about jiujitsu- wrestling. Advantages etc, thanks
@kansasarcherycenter10046 ай бұрын
@neskender I just competed in my first tournament this weekend and had to use my wrestling skills to win. I was able to score points and control positions to win my matches, but my skills in jui-jitsu have a long way to go. It didn't help that I was placed in a division with people a little heavier than me and half my age, but I was able to gut out some victories. Overall, my wrestling was a benefit this weekend. I'd like to get to the point where my defense is solid and develop the confidence to attempt submissions.

@@kansasarcherycenter1004 Ok, how much wrestling can help at a higher level, certainly it helps in fighting on the feet and in controlling the opponent, but is it "superior" to jiujitsu? Thanks!
@kansasarcherycenter10046 ай бұрын
@neskender I don't know if I'd say wrestling is superior to jui-jitsu when competing in jui-jitsu. A brand new jui-jitsu practitioner with wrestling background compared to a newbie with no wrestling background, I'd bet on the wrestler every time. The higher belt divisions would be different I assume, but I'm not a higher belt so I don't know for certain. How you mix the two together is what I'd think is important.

I really appreciate this one as I have been using it since 2008 and now closer to my forties, is one of the few things I can do well against those ultra new school younger lions. Thank you very much.

I'm 45 and just started learning Jiu Jitsu 8 weeks ago. Last night we were sparring from closed guard but I couldn't think of much to do from this position. This video is very helpful. Thank you.

Just what I needed! I’m 54 160 7 mths in and I almost never do closed guard because most are 40+ lbs heavier. Now it’s time for me to get some offensive on! 🎉

Eli, is it possible to submit someone in a standing arm in guillotine choke without pulling guard? Has it been done before?
@KnightJiuJitsu8 ай бұрын
Absolutely. You can find lots of examples of that happening in mma and submission grappling competition. Theres a viral video that just started going around this weekend of a female comp where that happened in dramatic fashion
