I enjoyed this game a lot as a kid. It’s a lot of fun with two players. I like the concept that you’re climbing up a mountain, and as you get higher, the more dangers you encounter. I never beat it though 😭

@@RaNdoM_inSulTeR You're bordering on pathetic, this was already acknowledged in a community post, one that you likely didn't read because you prefer to perpetuate drama, and I'm sorry for you, I truly am, that you feel using the 27 bones in your hand to insult and bring people down is changing the world somehow. I love Faxanadu, my best friend and I obsessed over it as kids. It's VERY light in the Metroidvania elements. There's a pretty clear path forward at all times. There are some puzzles of course but not much along the way of backtracking. It's more trial and error and figuring out what keys you need on you.

Star Tropics…. I got a hilarious story for you. The KZbinr that got me on the platform is ProJared. A while ago he played through Star Tropics, and it was one of the most irritating times (for him) ever. He couldn’t figure out where to go! Which gave me an idea. See I’ve sent Jared a bunch of stuff over the years. I got with his then editor Vlad and hatched a plan. I secretly went on eBay and bought a bunch of Nintendo Powers that had the Star Tropics walkthrough in it and had them shipped directly to him. In a mail opening he got I think 5 Star Tropics Nintendo Powers from what appeared to be 5 different people. He got progressively more annoyed pulling magazine after magazine out. But it gets better. Over the next month several of his other fans joined in and sent him even more copies! For months whenever he did his mail opening he’d say something to the effect of “No more Nintendo Powers!”

@Fortefyre yes they play very similar. The first one has more puzzle elements which were super fun and interesting. It also has a control system that can feel cumbersome at times but once you get used to it, it's great and the game and puzzles are designed around it very well. Zodas changes this control style up, so going from the first game immediately to the second isn't recommended because you will die by falling into pits more often due to the change. Zodas suffers from top down/isometric view platforming which just doesn't work great a lot of the time. It's just awkward at times. Again still great but not as good.

If you really are going to get into the Dragon Slayer Series, which has a couple dozen games, you'd probably do yourself a favor by staying away from the PC-88/MSX versions of the original. Damn, you’re missing out on quite a few great games. In my opinion, Double Dragon 3 wasn’t good at all. I was excited when I purchased it but was disappointed thereafter. Lol 🤢🤷‍♂️ Thanks again for the name shoutout and for making this interesting fun video. 🙏🏻

If you and side scrolling platformers don't get along.... how do you enjoy the Nes? That's like 90% of its games has some element of a side scrolling title. It's just how games were made back then.

There are some really solid games on this list. The two you should play soon, imo, would be Batman and Journey to Silius. Both are amazing games. Faxanadu is a lot more linear than you think, I wouldn't worry about getting lost. If you didn't like Double Dragon 1 and 2 on the NES, then you probably won't like 3. I like it, but it's the weakest of the trilogy.

well just about every game you presented here are among the best NES games. The only one of these that I haven't played is Double Dragon III, and that is because it has a reputation of being sort of bad. But who knows, maybe I'll buy even that game some day. The rest are top notch NES. Most of them are in my top 30.

Blaster Master kicked my ass lmfao. The only other one that MIGHT fit the bill for it, was the Knightmare II: The Maze of Galious but it's a product of its time.
@truehare
@truehare 7 ай бұрын
@@Fortefyre oh, yeah, Maze of Galious is cryptic as all hell. No wonder you got "scared" of metroidvanias with that one. But most games in the genre are much better structured than that. Incidentally, just today I beat Pampas & Selene, a spiritual sequel to Maze of Galious which was released on Steam earlier this month, and it made things much less confusing while maintaining the challenge. If, like me, you really wanted to like MoG but couldn't because of its obtusiveness, I'd strongly recommend you check it out.

@@Fortefyre I had Deja Vu on my Amiga way back then. I didn't even know it was a Mac game. I didn't have the others on Amiga though. I like Univited quite a bit. As a kid I don't think I ever finished Deja Vu but thought it was amazing that you could hit yourself, shoot yourself, eat a lot of inventory items... I played that one with my dad. I don't remember if we had the original or not. He would go to software parties, which meant everyone pirated all their games and programs and shared. You had to go to a special Amiga shop for legit games, and there was a salesman that would stand there and pitch them to you and load them up on a machine to let you play them.
