FF tactics is good, but Tactics ogre : let us cling together took it to a whole other level.
@chasecharland11603 жыл бұрын
@@anab0lic I disagree bud, go back and play again and you might realize just how basic character builds were in tactics ogre, the graphics were not as good either, and when you throw in the little Easter eggs if FFT you realize that tactics ogre was quite inferior. In FFT remember stealing special items for your crew? The samurai sword, gun, perfume with reraise that only female characters can use. Riding chocobos, taming monsters, convert enemies. The stats, like zodiac signs and faith brave, all the cool gear or skills like two sword from Ninja. Then theirs the music 😭 best of any rpg ever made. The colors of the world, the flashy magic and summons, the detail on the characters and monsters so full of life and color. The story 😤 just hits deep in the feels. Doing the side quests for treasure and lore, poaching monsters, item find special, special characters like Cloud or Balthier and the robot or the dragon girl and her bf. Tactics ogre fell way short of all that, come on bro, it's ok to admit when your wrong 🤗
@anab0lic3 жыл бұрын
@@chasecharland1160 Disagree with pretty much all your points. Music and visuals vastly superior in Tactics ogre... I'm talking about the remake here by the way, the ~PSP version... FF tactics is actually hideous in comparison, has not aged well at all, much like most PS1 games. That's why I wish they would do a remake for the game. Or just give us a FFT 2. Lots of secret characters to find in Tactic ogre too, as well as unique items and such, recruitable monsters with more interesting abilities... I actually found FFT A2 to be a better game from a gameplay standpoint than the original.... its a shame that a lot of people are put off it due to its more childish appearance.
@chasecharland11603 жыл бұрын
@@anab0lic You have no taste bud, and if the game needed to be remastered in order to beat fft original then that means fft was better yes? Didn't age well!? Your smoking crack, look around the internet you'll see just how much the fans love fft now more then ever. I truly don't understand what your talking about, ogre is so drab and dark, very poor graphics not even a comparison.

Don't support Arcadian Atlas. The developer, Becca Bair, and I were good friends for 5 years. She stole a couple of my ideas for her game. So did her brother, Taylor. Which I honestly would have been entirely fine with if they'd asked, or even THANKED me afterward. Both still deny it. They received $95,000 from a Kickstarter, and got almost nothing done in 4 years. I was essentially their community manager, for free, because nobody would go on Steam, Reddit or their Kickstarter and say anything about the delays. Finally, they got a publisher and are trucking along. I got to play early, and also got to see the build they had completed when the Kickstarter was created. In 4 years they did almost no work, while Becca lived off that money until it ran out, then off her husband until she cheated on him. With her fiance now. Who is also a game dev (with a successful game on Steam and Switch) and seems to be the only reason they got picked up by their publisher. Also what I've played of the game is bland as fuck. Just discovered this channel; nice video, subscribed. While I have no quarrel with being sprite based, a few of these are hitting too closely to the bareboned side of things, at least visuals-wise. I've played a few other tactics games after FFT I liked, such as Fell Seal. My main gripe is usually the lack of playstyle options especially if the class/skill variety isn't large. Frankly from this quick look I'm most interested in Voxel Tactics, as it mentions base management; hopefully it won't be as watered down as I fear. The rest don't really seem to showcase stuff that differentiates them from other tactics games, though admittedly we barely get much of glimpse of them in this video. As a dev and modder, I know art assets are a constraint but adding something like e.g. a mentor system doesn't need a whackload of new assets. edit: I got "VOXEL tactics" confused with "VOXIE tactics" - the video is talking about the first one. The second one is a free2play game, with NFTs... yeah I'm not going near that garbage. So be careful when you're searching for info on these games, make sure the results are pointing to the correct one.

1:13 This map is dangerously treading the territory of plagiarism (the 1-on-1 duel between the protagonist and a certain villain). You can pay homage to your beloved title, but not in such way. On the other hand, I am baffled with the poor, regressed old-school pixelated visual effect (even poorer than the original Tactics Ogre) most of these games are employing. FFT set the foundation and gold standard of modern fantasy particle effect. So while I am not overall impressed by Triangle Strategy, their visual effect department is on the right direction.

The only one that looks the most appealing to me would be Spiritbound tactics. I appreciate this kind of effort to make this kind of games. But nothing like FFT, my personal Best game ever made

It must also be said that games of this type cannot be expected from AAA pubs & devs. So also for this reason they are to be appreciated and supported.

Same goes for Heroes of might and magic series: the 3rd part (1998) is still the best and is still active (thanks to community)! Some genre titans seem to be hard to repeat. It’s sad.

Ironically these just make me wanna play FFT more then these games. They look good and are probably going to be really fun, but idk I guess once I play the orginal most versions that are inspired just seem like they are trying to copy or just don't live up to the orginal game.

do they really all need to use the word "tactics" in the name, like really? Great video though, can't wait start on most of these~
@ricardodarcangelo24373 жыл бұрын
The problem is that there isn't much of a market for classic strategy rpgs, and the companies that do make them still, don't understand what makes those games great. And people who want these games, just play them anyways, because there's not many options. I still love the classics, but I can't play the half assed knock offs anymore... I've got plenty of other genres of rpgs to play these days. Still wish more games like shining force, and tactics ogre, fft; even more obscure ones like Kartia, og vandal hearts, etc were still being made. Triangle strategy is the only good one I've seen in years, that wasn't named fire emblem

FFT took it's tactics from a game released earlier called "Vandal Hearts".
@TurnBasedLovers3 жыл бұрын
It should be Tactics Ogre. FFT & Tactics Ogre share the same director and some staff members.
@gmoorisson3 жыл бұрын
Wtf are you smoking? FFT is a literal spiritual successor of Tactics Ogre.
@roamingcelt3 жыл бұрын
@@gmoorisson FFT is. But Vandal Hearts came out first. And with Square backing FFT, it had more money in advertising. Also taking the FF title gained a larger customer base. I was alive and playing the PS1 when both games came out. I bought Vandel Hearts when it came out being a ttrp and war gammer. Then bought FFT because I loved FF VII, FF VIII and FF IX. Guess which one came out first? Don't get me wrong. I loved FFT. But Vandal Hearts was followed by FFT. Go play Vandal Hearts and tell me what you think.
@gmoorisson3 жыл бұрын
@@roamingcelt ok, you clearly don't know that: 1) Tactics Ogre came out BEFORE Vandal Hearts. 2) The person who created Tactics Ogre (Matsuno) is also the same person who created Final Fantasy Tactics. Like I said, it's a spiritual successor. 3) I also was alive well before all of these games have came out and played all of them. You're trying so hard to make it seem like FFT borrowed concepts from Vandal Hearts when Matsuno never stated anything about being influenced by that game. Why would he? He already made Tactics Ogre which is better than Vandal Hearts.
