on the 78 tour, where Bruce and the Boys tore the house down night after night, there was NO song that had as much passion, spirit and incredible energy as this one ..NOTHING came close...NOTHING

@@BruceBootlegs I saw them early on this tour maybe a week or two after the DARKNESS album had been released. I remember this song in particular. They were playing it the same way that it sounds on this Roxy show. Sitting three rows back center I was thinking, Is this a Rock band playing so soft? Then out of the blue Bruce blows the intro wide open with his guitar solo. And from there till the end of the song it is Hell Fire!

I went to that concert in 1978 and must agree. That song was incredibly powerful. Bruce was at his best and most electric of his career. His guitar playing in this song cried out with power and energy.

My first Bruce bootleg cassette tape! Played it nonstop in my car (69’ Chevelle SS 396) for an entire summer. The car and the tape are long gone, but the memories remain.......

The very first time that I ever heard the live version of Prove It All Night was when I was in the audience 3 rows back center stage at the 2500 seat Omaha Music Hall in June 1978. The Darkness tour was only a few week old and the album had only been released maybe 3 weeks earlier? So, the songs they performed from the album were still new to me. I distinctly remember the performance of Prove It All Night. It sounded just like this one from this Roxy show. The volume of the band was so soft. I remember thinking to myself, as they played the instrumental intro to the song, where is the Rock volume? Of course at the time I didn't know the instrumental they were playing was the intro to the song. When Bruce's guitar solo joined the intro he tore the introapart! And when the opening melody of the song was played I thought to myself, holy Shit! That instrumental they played was the intro to the song!

Saw the Darkness tour in Minneapolis on June 10, 1078. Just like your Omaha date (must of been less than a week later) , it was very early in the tour. 15 rows back on the main floor. The difference was I had tracked down the band at their hotel the afternoon of the show. Met Max and Gary in the lobby and got them to sign a industry full page promo ad for the Darkness release. Max asked me if I played guitar and said they were looking to add a 2nd guitar player to the band. If only I had taken those lessons. HA! Then, a few minutes later, the elevator doors opened and Bruce made his way slowly thru the lobby and right out the front door to sit down on the curb, where a crew member brought him a breakfast of sausage and eggs in a styrofoam to go box. He and I were the only 2 people out there. When he finished eating, I approached him and asked him if he'd sign my two items (the 2nd was a bootleg 2lp set of the 1975 Roxy show I had bought in Amsterdam in 1977). He said sure and we had a 10 minute conversation. The first thing he wanted to know was "had I heard the Darkness album and what did I think?" I assured him I had, that I had tickets to the show that night. His photographer girlfriend, Lynn Goldsmith, began snapping several photos (one of which would later appear in her book documenting the '78 tour). Shortly after, the tour bus pulled up to the curb, we said our goodbyes and the entire band climbed on to the bus and it drove them right across the street and thru the huge parking lot to the Met Sports Center for their soundcheck. That night, I was amazed at how much solo guitar Bruce played (especially the searing intro to Prove it All Night) and how much bigger he looked on stage. Saw the Darkness tour again on Nov. 29 in St. Paul when they swung back around. Those were the days.

Awesome pure rock music. Bruce and the Band were at their most powerful during the late 70s. Such a great time to love music.

This is by far of course this is my opinion the best live version ever of prove it all night I just can't believe that it didn't make it on the live 75 to 85 release because there's quite a few songs that did make it on the 75 _85 live and if you like this you've got to see the Capital theater September 19th 1978 show when he does backstreets and I mean it is Bruce like I've never ever seen put so much energy and so much emotion pure raw emotion into that song which is of course the dark horse song of the Born to run album it's a masterpiece plain and simple.... And it just doesn't get any better than that and then lo and behold you will find another great library song that's blows you away that's why there's only one and only Springsteen and there will never be anyone ever like him for all you Bruce friends we definitely were blessed because he's a straight gift from God!!!!👍 keep on rocking Bruce
