Hi Scotty. On your scooter purchase. You do not need the power, UNTIL YOU NEED THE EXTRA POWER. You will need the extra power when you tour around in STEEP mountain areas. Especially if you have a lady on the back. You will really notice and need extra power with a load on your bike and going up hills. Or, you will really appreciate the extra power on a really long ride. If you want a lower powered one that is OK too. It will work perfect for you about 80% of the time. Or, maybe later give the low power scooter to your lady, then buy a big power one for yourself. Q is a smart guy on bikes.

Glad to see you posting. 154 Work/ 226 Calendar Days from Retirement. What an idea: A mall as a Retirement Home. Beats a Nursing Home in the west. As for the rest of the "irritants"... I work in Education Support, I'll be retiring after 29 years. If I didn't have patience, I would have run screaming for the exit long ago. Healthcare is one of the REASONS I'll be moving to the Philippines. Depending on the Service, in comparable facilities, with comparable Staff... You get BETTER care for 8% to 15% of the price in the US. Animals: I was a 4-H kid with Chickens, Ducks, Geese, and other noisy animals in the neighborhood...

Hi Scotty. Please take a motorcycle/scooter riding safety course. You will learn a lot of important information. Do it on your own bike or one just like it if possible. Nobody wants you to get injured and there are very real risk on 2 wheels. Get a bike with ABS. Traction control is even better if it is an option on the bike your want. Learn to use your front brake and about countersteering. Start learning now to get the head knowledge then you can apply it on the bike when you have it. Find an open area like an empty parking lot and practice practice practice. Get out of the city and in the province everything with be much better for a new rider.

I’ve been in the Phils 9 years divided between my first stay 2006-2013 and came back June 2022 to now. In between I lived in Taiwan, top notch people and country, Cambodia and Vietnam. Cambodia and Vietnam being SE Asian countries have similar problems that you mentioned in this and other videos (and some of the positives) but not as many problems like here (my humble opinion). But the take-away to surviving in the Phils (same in Vietnam) is finding a work-around as you talked about… to that long ATM line, that waitress that ignored you, that creep that pushed in front of you at Mercury Drug (why does it always happen at a druge store?) etc. It's how I keep my sanity and it works. When you’re traveling, you’re going to love the extra power when you’re climbing hills. And with disc brakes, front and back you’re going to love them when you’re going downhill. Personally, I’d buy a 400 cc motorcycle that way when you’re going downhill, you can use a lower gear to slow yourself down and save on the brakes.

I can't lie, man.The hygeine issue's a little scary for me. Here in the states, after taking a number 2, we wipe with TP and flush it down. Result: no poop on our hands, but we still wash afterwards. In the Phils however, the "tabo" method of washing your crotch with water with your bare hand after taking a number 2 scares the (pardon the pun) sh*t out of me. There's no way in hell you'll convince me the "tabo method" doesn't result in sh*t particle contamination EVERYWHERE. I guess if you move there as an expat, your immune system adjusts to the higher bacteria content in the food. Most expat vloggers say the first few months can be a little rough, until your system adjusts.

Dude, If you have to argue with someone on why it is a great place to live then you do not understand that they are just not cut from the same cloth as we are! Thailand is for those who have money and luv fine cuisine, the Philippines is for those men who are true cowboys at heart! (and I happen to be one) With 7,300 Islands and mostly farmers who still use Oxen to ploy their fields and real Christian women everywhere despite being introduced to it via Catholicism, they simply fear God and luv Jesus and obey the Holy Bible and NOT the Catholic re-written perversion of one! The biggest take is the adjustment..it’s give and take. The Filipino’s can be a odd bunch …like you said in a resto doing f*** all..when they should be serving ..literally not giving a shit. That has to be called out ..this happens in generally establishments poorly run. Which I hasten to add is most of the phil’s..I put it down to the way they were raised. My Filipina is middle class professional and it drives her bonkers how unprofessional Filipino generally are…I have three people that work full time for us.And we’ve had to pull them up for things you think a kid should do..ie turning up ..telling you they are not turning up( they live on the phones but all of a sudden there phone is not working) it’s basically there up bringing. It’s just adjustment..knowing when and where to push it..we are not in the west so just need to deal with the inconsistencies but..but there’s lots and lots of positives with the Filipino so it’s a win in the end.

But no big deal life is too short to worry about the dogs if I want them to be quiet I just go outside impact them and play fetch and they are happier than pig in mud, we have a cat that annoys the crap out of me, this cat kills every single mouse around even jumps up onto the ceiling rafters and chased them.
