I love my R8. I have used it as a second cam for high school sports photography with nice results. I even got 700 photos with it during a football game once on a single battery. I always have extras and love how I can charge with USB C in the car driving around or with a battery pack. I use it as my personal travel camera with lightweight primes (16, 28, 35, 50 and 85). R8+28mm = super light and portable FF camera. I used the 35mm to photograph my sister's wedding with terrific results in a lightweight package. I took the R8 with the 28mm to a big fair last fall and was very pleased with the results I was able to get with the combo that fits in a jacket pocket. For me, the dynamic range, colors, and AF are fantastic at this price point. It isn't going to compete with the R6II or R5 but it isn't priced to. Great ergonomics, is compact and lightweight. I have been very pleased with mine for the price and what I need it to do. For how I use it, I just wish it had a flip-up screen and better weather sealing.

Also take into consideration that the R8 is NOT weather sealed like the R6 and R5. Per specs PDF, the max operating humidity is 85%. Here in Florida we exceed 85% often. On a side note, Canon lifted the lens ban for Tamron and Sigma in April. Sigma has already announced 6 lenses in development.

Oh Yes!!! This is a great point to remember - I sometimes forget this point - as I’m used to having weather sealing on my full frames back from my 5DmarkIII days and Humidity is another great point in the UK we rarely have it - but always wet 😅 also great news about the third party ban getting lifted 🥳🥳

I can take around 250 with a full battery. It's enough for me, i'm not a professional, just chilling taking friends and family pictures. Just once i would had love to have a second battery, but in 99% of my random guy usage, it was enough.

I can see casual use being ok - imagine if someone asked you to shoot photos or video at their wedding or special event … then you will need to stock up 😅😅

@@KaiCreative there was a total of 3-4 minutes of videos 50 fps 1080p and 450 pictures. It was during a theatre event, it was short and intense (like 40 min). I was really used to 250 pictures with one battery, when i was walking around in the city for 3-4 hour. The screen may take a lot of battery. it’s better than i though but still planning to take second battery

The RF mount is actually the main reason why I didn‘t consider this otherwise awesome camera. No 3rd party lenses and most bright Canon RF lenses are expensive AF. What‘s the point of a cheaper body with expensive lenses? Some ppl argue that you can use the EF adapter. Well… that adds additional weight and inconvenience. Low budget Full Frame: stay away from Canon. That‘s my take.

Canon actually release the RF mount to Sigma and Tamron in April. SIgma has already published its list of lenses in development. With that said, RF lenses are the cat's moew and not that expensive. I paid $800 for my RF 24-104 f/4L used.

@@jameshuff9726 Sigma and Tamron are allowed to build RF-mount lenses for APS-C only. I'm not even sure if they're allowed to release whatever models they want. Announcements are announcements. Let's see how much Canon will allow. For the meantime, if freedom of lens choice - including budget ones - is important: Canon is a No-Go. That simple.

With lots of cameras on ebay with ibis for very cheap, lack of ibis is not only a deal breaker but its also ridiculous. Tipical of canon to cheap out. Embarrassing... Also, the lack of affordable lenses and lack of third party, another deal breaker. Its currently the worse ff system by far.
