I subscribed to the channel this year and finally I managed not to drink alcohol for a week! It's not a super long time, but it was enough to let me see what it was like. I'm wondering how it finally clicked, ha! Some benefits were a better mood. I was less irritable and even felt happy, which I don't often feel, unfortunately. I also got more done, which helped my self-esteem. When we haven't done anything, we get frustrated with ourselves. It's a cycle. When we've completed things (even small things like making the bed) we're not ruminating on everything we haven't done.

8 and half months sober from booze and weed. I've been learning to enjoy, cope, deal with, or whatever all of life's ventures. I am now in the midst of my toughest challenge....Two Weeks Vacation. This is filled with travel, drinking friends, family, social events, warm deck weather. So far I am enjoying it very much, but need to pay attention. Every night I says "thanks" because I stayed sober and genuinely enjoyed the day. This is my first sober vacation in 30 plus years.

The gym has been my go-to in aiding my sobriety. Unfortunately, they will be closing early on the 4th. At the same time, I am in a space where I do not have any family where I reside and very few "friends" other than some gym rats : ). So I may spend some time on the waterfront and some netflix. I'm staying in a safe space as this is a recent start for me and not comfortable testing my discipline just yet.

Okies, no drinking on the fourth of July (weekend). Since we will be in a 20°F higher than normal heatwave, no drinking until it cools off a bit too. Afterwards, go for 21 days of sobriety since I'll already have been sober for a week and the rule of thumb is that it takes 21 days to form a new habit. After three weeks I hope to be experiencing multiple, noticeable, health benefits. This I believe will give me encouragement to stay sober for the rest of the summer. Then my birthday in autumn will be fairly close so I will remain sober until then when I will realize that a sober birthday is one of those major, reachable milestones. Also, more, major, health benefits should steadily accrue. So then comes possibly, (likely) rough seas through the holidays and the huge milestone of a alcohol-free New Years Eve. New years day I will start the year sober and alcohol free. I will have the opportunity to begin and end the year without drinking. I'm not sure this has ever occurred in my adult life. After that I can think of no real reason to begin drinking again. lol, I apologize for being so long-winded. I think spelling it out will help. Bless you all.
@gwillis013 ай бұрын
It is good to be crystal clear on why you want to be sober. Pick a reason that is important to YOU. Make the payoff worth the struggle. The second week is easier than the first week. Check out that recent Jae video on how fast your health improves as your days sober pile up.
@PriusTurbo3 ай бұрын
If your hands don't pick up the drink and pour it into your mouth, you won't drink. And it's highly improbable that another person is going to pin you down and pour alcohol down your throat. Keep it simple.
@gwillis013 ай бұрын
@@PriusTurbo In my opinion, Prius Turbo, the biggest factor in achieving sobriety is the mind instead of the hand. The most damaging part of alcohol abuse is the cravings in the mind. If you think that alcohol will make you more flirtatious, more sexy, more interesting to talk to, or better able to tell a funny joke, then you have a problem. If you think that alcohol is the best way to hide from frustration or disappointment, you have a problem.
