There is absolutely no way I would leave that set up to move to Florida. At this point why wouldn't this guy just hire private teachers in the Philippines and educate the kids the way you would like. Plus still letting them be kids . But to each their own. Great interview Mark as always I really enjoyed it.

Why is US so expensive ? Taxes, regulations, lawyers, big government, quantitative easing, money printing,...and greed.

Because money first and greed is what the U.S. is all about. We just left Florida after 47 years there. The cost of living has went wild in the past 5 years. We made our decision when the only home owner’s insurance we could get was 9,000 a year. 6 miles from a beach but not in a flood zone. Crazy now. And we would have to work our entire life. No thanks.

I live in one of the lowest cost of living states in the USA and the average cost of a house is $228,000. That is for a house around 1800 to 2000 sq ft. I think the biggest problem is people buy way more house than they really need. My brother and I my parents grew up and had plenty of room in a house that was only around 1200 square feet. Too many people trying to keep up with the Joneses

The average tutor salary in Philippines is ₱ 480,000 per year or ₱ 192 per hour. Entry-level positions start at ₱ 297,000 per year, while most experienced workers make up to ₱ 720,000 per year. About $13,000 a year, to hire a full time teacher for your daughters. Seems like a much better option than subjecting your family to the States.

I'd not sell and move for that one reason...that is schooling for my children. No one would. I would either homeschool or find a local teacher who would teach/homeschool my children privately. Simple and done. I suspect schooling may be a reason for the move but likely not the main reason.

My perspective from Manhattan/NYC and South Florida is DON'T DO IT!!! Things have changed so much, there's no point in waiting for this little phase to be over so things can return to normal. In this man's lifetime (mine too!) there's is no returning to the America we knew. The best comment I can make is either stay in your home --or-- seek greener pastures elsewhere and probably NOT in the USA. Sad to be writing this, good luck. and OMG!!! Don't let your daughters grow up in America. The culture in the USA has tainted womanhood and as someone born and raised in the US, I think the demise of the stay-at-home-parent has led to the destruction of American society.

Just started watching the video and reading thru the comments. Waiting to hear his reason for going back to the USA but it’s hard to believe it’s going to be a good long term choice. Florida is very expensive now and I feel for his children leaving the freedom of the Phils for the school system in America now. I wish he’d hire a caretaker for his beautiful home in the Phils and give his family a year inn the States and then make the final decision where to live.

He is very well spoken and seems genuinely happy and so smart and humble. I am sure he was an asset to alot of people. I have been retired for almost a year and was a Project Superintendent for the largest and i feel the best Construction & Development company in the SF Bay Area for 25 years and enjoyed his description of his house and building process and yes their are many pitfalls in design that you run into and fix on the fly quickly since you are on a schedule that you have to keep. I really wish him and his family a good luck going back to America, I saw Alex's vlog of their house and it was just utterly gorgeous and that classic car was just wow! not to mention the mini cooper too! My husband is a petrol head and now he turned me into one too! I hope they are also considering a bolthole in Manila and put the kids in international schools like BSM or ISM, these schools are expensive but opens up opportunities to enter prestigious schools in Europe or US. I've read somewhere that house sales here in Philippines usually takes an average of 2 years before it gets sold, we're at the moment trying to sell our 130 sqm condo in Salcedo Village and we've had some viewings but no serious interests yet.

I will not go back to the US, there are so many school shootings here & teachers are unhappy & always on strike & violence is on the rise. I feel for them, they’re so underpaid. In my opinion, your children will be happier there than here in the US, most kids are depressed & mostly indoors playing games etc. Social media has change the demographic of learning & behavior sadly😢 If I can move there I’ll do it in a heartbeat & move my 2sons & hubby, & we ♥️the tropical climate of the Philippines. $100,000 a year is just enough to get by in New Jersey where they have 11% higher cost-of-living than the national average and the home market is 30% higher than the national average. I live in Georgia where the cost-of-living is 10% lower than the national average and housing market is 23% lower and with a 92,000 a year household income, and a family of four and we have a great medical plan we get by each month and able to put away a little bit of money until the unexpected happens that drains our account again. 100 grand is not a lot these days. We just get by.

My father started as a teacher in Florida in 1975. He didn’t start making a decent income as a teacher until 1997 but all of his four children graduated and was gone by then. So when he actually had some money we were all out of the house. It’s not really improved here in Florida with teacher wages. My 2 year nurses degree earns me 6 figures but a 6 year master in education you may make $50k after a few years

Great video and a real nice and smart guy. He is in for the culture shock of his life!! He has no idea how much America has changed and I certainly would never move to Florida to raise two 10 year old girls.. there are many small towns in America that still have a wonderful quality of life but Florida does not have many of them.. you have to Wikipedia your town or county or area where you want to live then hit demographics and that tells the story.. sounds like the only problem he's got is 12 hours school days which are ridiculous.. just find the kids another school.. many great private schools in the Philippines that are cheap.. I can send my kids to private school in the Philippines and it would be cheaper than a public crappy school in America.. he is used to living in compounds where the population is controlled.. I have lived in compounds for workers and I loved it.. they do not let riff raff in the compounds to live.. I wish him and his family luck but after a few months in Florida he'll be back!!😮👍🤗😎🥂

Thomas Sowell and Milton Freidman, the two greatest economists in history both explained what went wrong. Government intervention into the marketplace. Government guaranteed student loans and government guaranteed housing loans destroyed the economy, housing, and colleges. Watch their videos and get an exact explanation. They want both spouses working so they can simultaneously tax both people and destroy the family. Simple.

The house will be extremely hard to sell unless deeply discounted. People with money will rather build their own house to their liking. Over building in the Philippines is not a smart idea. Also, it is the not the size of the home that matters, it is the happiness that it brings that matters. The bigger the home, the bigger the responsibilities, the lonelier it can get when empty. A very big home not only requires a lot of money to maintain, but it will require a lot of your time. That required time could be spent on yourself, your health which is far more important than luxury.

This guy is super smart and super ambitious, . But he's off on many things---. He says a car cost more than a house in 1960----and he's wrong. You could get a car for 2,500 in 1960, and we paid 7500 for our 900 sq. ft. 3 bedroom house in 1954. He is way off. And he doesn't seem to know why home prices are up so much? Our house was just under 900 sq. ft.----and now the average new home is 2100 sq. ft. More than double the size. And today's homes have A/C----which didn't exist in homes in the 1950's as I grew up. So he is right----that home prices have risen the fastest of all things----from the mid-60's. Groceries have gone down the most----with the big farm machines of today. We pay over twice as much for home-----taking inflation into account. But electronics like TV,s and Radio's and appliances are down. On his statement that homes were cheaper than cars in 1960---you were a gentleman-----and didn't call him out. You just said you were surprised----as you should have been. For true 1960 prices? Average US car was 2750 in 1960. Average home price in 1960----was 11,900.

Well raising softies like his doing is part of the problem, lets start by raise tougher kids, like we did in the States when these 2 were kids, would be a good start; for God sake we don't even have PE anymore in our schools, because is too dangerous and violent for the sweeties, so let me go and find more time for my daughters so they can invested in getting their minds twisted by social media in the States and the West bankrupt system, really?
