I left NYC not the state. Moved upstate and it was the best decision I have ever made. It came with some challenges but I got through them and I am now chilling.

@@TommyBryson nope I kept the same job I had in NYC and transferred to the upstate branch. Same money, less squeeze from NYC prices. Recently I got into an admin job at an office so I make more and don't have to travel for work. So that saves a lot of money kinda like getting 2 raises. I love the office admin position for an internal audit department. I hope to get promoted in the next 3 to 5 years if possible so I can get to the 85 to 104k salary grade.

I was born in Queens NYC. The city is fast paced and very expensive to live in and no you can’t trust anybody like that here. Once I make a good portion of money, I’m considering moving to one of the counties of New York..

All great points and very spot on about the issues we deal with living in NYC! I'm from the suburbs of the Midwest in the US where things are very slow and segregated. People are not very open-minded in the Midwest or the south in my opinion, so I choose not to live in those areas. I moved to NYC over 15 years ago because the city makes me thrive unlike the city I moved from. I just believe that it's about the choices people make in where they feel comfortable living. I'm so glad to hear that you're comfortable living in the DR, best wishes!

Grew up in NYC and was always told to "get a city job." Never did bc I knew they overpaid you to the point where you were stuck with it until retirement, thereby giving up on your dreams or a better paying job that didn't have the job security of a city job. Golden handcuffs, basically. And yes I know the MTA is technically a state job.

They do not *feel* like friends because they simply are _not_ your friends. I would consider them as friendly acquaintances as these acquaintanceships are too superficial to be considered a real friendship. The friendly acquaintances you are talking about often tend to ease a person into a form of closeness to emulate a form of friendship for their personal benefit and it usually only benefits one party once or for the time being without a guarantee of any reciprocity. The second that there is no need for any engagement, the "friendship" ends as well.

Something for Everyone.

NYC is for the rich. Most of the jobs arein retail, finance and legal. Nothing for young black men (except govt jobs). I lived in a luxury apt on the Vegas Strip, for $700/month. First month, free rent😊

The one thing I loved about NYC was that it had akot of people and the Stores where assume. But I didn't really experience what u were talking about. But the driving was assume in Mahattan.
