Being a meat eater from TX, I was skeptical of the information that Jake talks about in this video. Then I watched three documentaries (Forks over Knives, Cowspiracies, and Food, Inc.) that shocked me to the core. Being 54 years old, I thought that I knew what was going on with the foods that I was eating but after watching these documentaries it turns out I knew nothing and his statistics were right on. I am making a conscious effort to become more vegan, not only for the obvious health benefits but also for the global impact as well. I challenge everyone to watch those 3 documentaries and NOT become vegan.

Ace Joker if you check out the book The China Study, it actually indicted that plant based is the best diet for humans. The point that we are animals that need to eat other animals are just an old paradigm

Hey Jake, I just want to say ...you musn't use the argument of riding a bicycle and that your car is 100% electric from solar panels...let me tell you why it's a flawed argument... All solar panels are made in China and their factories run on coal powered electricity and the panel material themselves aren't safe either...then you have the steel you use to mount the panels and the cable to run the electricity then the Batteries(dont let me get started on them) then also inverters...then all electronics in your house then also the parts from the Electric cars are all made from coal powered electricity in the manufacturing process...Steel process itseltf uses a HUGE amount of electricity which comes from coal power...Even the bricks and tiles on your roof to the cement of your house all use in some form coal or fossil fuels to transport them...so thinking you are better than others just because you are Vegan is ridiculous and absurd...Our entire society needs to shift to make an difference what so ever... Best way to do that is providing ways of Making/ saving money for business's and you will see only then change will happen. Just my 10 cents. Regards Enjoy your day!

+VeganAthlete All these people trying to find hypocrisy with your vegan life style choices are sad people. We've built an entire society and culture on the suffering of these animals and if they can find just one thing to make you out as a hypocrite then you're entire position is considered invalid. This is the burden of societies guilt on the suffering of these poor animals(something no one can deny) projecting on to you. You're not making a point when you do that. Understand being a vegan is a dedicated lifestyle and it's about doing the best you can with the resources you have. Just as you would expect if you were to decide to go vegan now. And in all honesty what are you trying to prove by doing that? "Oh you're not 100% vegan so it's totally fine to continue killing and slaughtering these animals who live in terrible living conditions and go through endless physical and psychological torture" Ahh I see, you must be so smart.

Hey Jake, my name is Brandon and I am 22 years old and i'm from Rock Hill, South Carolina! I'm sure you have seen me here a few times recently, but I just wanted to say thank you! Before finding you on KZbin I had been struggling with finding my way and happiness but recently things have been looking more than bright. At first I really liked you for the kung fu and Chinese culture aspect of your videos but I have also recently been changing my diet by following some of your advice such as having one day of the week that I should go vegan or vegetarian and so I had been doing that for about three weeks, a few days ago I started to notice my body and mind sort of rejecting meat more and more as I put more fruit and veggies into my diet rather than animals, and then just last night I watched a movie or documentary called "Cowspiracy" (if you have not watched it I HIGHLY recommend you watch it because it has so many facts and evidence backing up the statements that you make in this video) but after watching this movie my eyes were really opened to the global catastrophe that we are living through and so I have made 100% commitment to going "vegetarian" from now to my last breath and I hope to work myself into a 100% vegan diet in the future (I feel as though I need to work myself in slowly although I will definitely be going for alternatives to dairy when I can). To sum things up, I am not very sure if I would have made this commitment so soon without your help and I greatly appreciate you and everything that you stand for, you are my role model and my idol, and your work has definitely made an impact on my life. Thank you again, hopefully one day I will be able to meet you in person and shake your hand.

Since going vegetarian -now vegan - three years ago I've lost 85 pounds of fat, added muscle, got off all meds for blood pressure and cholesterol, avoided insulin the doc said was next. All my labs are normal, but as soon as I gave up meat I felt such a boost of energy that I could have powered a small city. I run 2 miles a day, lift weights, and I am pursuing my aikido black belt. I'm 58, been told I look 10-15 years younger, and can attest to the truth of # 7 😉.

Happy Birthday and thank you for sharing - throughout your whole video one thing kept going through my mind, and this is it; when you eat veggies you are actually eating very tiny corpuscles of light. We all know that light is life. Also plants were created for man to eat, as anything that has breath had to have it given by The Father, thus anything that breathes has a soul ( but not necessarily a spirit). The soul is capable of all of the 5 sense and awareness of life and death. As vibrational creations meat would most likely change the harmonics that a person would resonate at, thus changing the reaction of the things around us. I was just listening to lecture that pointed out the reason why I believe that so many people are confused. (paraphrasing) The world operates in "systems" but to change your world- operate in "relationships.". I for one am ready for change. Thanks for the inspiration.

+VeganAthlete I've been following your videos since long ago, i'm a martial arts practicioner and also an animal lover, i won't argue in your reasons to be vegan because don't know about most of the things you explained, but without beeing disrespectfull because i apreciate your ideas, your pint number 2 it's nosense, and as a medicine student, i can argue about that because it's what I know, having a debate by youtube coments would be boring and tedious but i wolud be glad to have it by private messaging or skype or whatever, if you are interested in expand your knowledge (as i am, and thats why i follow your vids) we can talk whenever you want. with this I don't pretent to change your "veganism", a future doctor I agre that we eat too much meat and a vegan diet is healthier than the canivore diet, that the world is holding nowadays, but i thing that being vegan it's not a biological fact, its a conciusnes election that you can pick or not and both elections should be respected, because humans are ovnivors so we've got the election of eating or not eating meat as i've said if you are interested on maintainig a dialogue about human fisiology you can send me a private message whenever you want I preciate your vids and your knowledge, but i don't agree with sentences like we can, biologicaly, hunt animals for ur mantainig uless we do a trap or a eapon, because our brain IS BIOLOGICAL Thanks for spending your time in a random coment, i hope you feel atracted to my point of view and also forgive me for my poor english (im spanish)

Luv this vid, Jake.. You put your feelings beautifully into words. It shows how you intensely thought about how to explain your veganism. This past year I have slowly turned toward fruit n veg....surprised myself when I one day realized I haven't purchased meat in a very long time. And I don't want to. I wanted to really feel "why". And I found myself using these same reasons. I have such a new found respect for food now....I actually look at it and say a little thankful prayer before consuming the beautiful fruits n veg. Thanks much for all your vids....I enjoy them and luv to see you adore every bite you take... Stay well.

You don't really have to eat fresh all the time when you're vegan, there is a wide variety of legumes; beans, chickpeas, lentils etc .. that are cheep and economical that you can buy all year around. You can make mock meat with them, or veggie patties with some spices. And there are your grains, like wheat and oats .. that you can serve as breakfast with some bananas and some cinnamon and maybe a little granola sprinkled on top..

Second year spending Thanksgiving--my family's favorite holiday--alone eating tasty home made vegan eats all by myself. Though I do not regret being alone, I am determined to do a big vegan spread for my family and friends next year. I believe they can forego dead animal one day out of the year; I believe they are capable of this. And this is how I will phrase it to them. Happy bday, and Happy Thanksgiving--whatever that means to you--and thanks for posting. : )

Hey man, I've been thinking about changing to a vegan diet for a few weeks now and you have inspired me to change. Thank you. I've also been doing karate for around 10 years and I love the Kung Fu videos. Thanks again.

Amazing Jake, thank you to share that consciousness. I'm currently working on that in order to afford a vegan diet in the future. For my future and for our future. Peace my friend

This is awesome! I am not a Vegan... YET! But am strongly leaning this way. Thanks for sharing and for the inspiration! I would love to have a garden like yours one day, I live in Canada and it can get very cold (-40) kind of cold in the winter, and I'm wondering if it is possible to have an amazing garden with such a variety in a harsher/colder climate. Thanks.

Thank you for this, Jake. Even though I have been vegan for 5 years (and vegetarian for at least 10) wish I had this video to share a lot sooner.

Great video Jake, my friend who exercises here and there believes that animal protein is the best source of protein to build muscle. But i said that when you get old you will look like Arnold Schwartsenegger (in his 60's). When i get old(60's) I am going to look like Im 39 eating a plant based diet, raw foods/vegan lifestyle.

Hi @VeganAthlete, I've been vegetarian for over 15 years now, and even though I am overweight (sedentary lifestyle) I still have better blood work than my colleagues which are not vegetarians. For record, I feel great. I am from Serbia, and here people are mostly meateaters and what you said, everything, in regard to social gathering happens to me and I feel odd because of it - I hate it. I just love your gardening videos and will continue to watch them as I plan to move out of the city when I get to pension. So, for now I am gathering knowledge and how-to do gardening correctly. At some point I plan to subscribe for seed boxes, but first I need to find room where to grow them and by some led lamps for continual illumination. Thanks for eveyrthing/lots of fun Stay strong and fly safe :) #VeganAthlete
