Leon, I'm super proud of you. Alcohol is strange. It works with whatever mood your in, and uses it against you. You are doing a great service. The hard truth is Alcohol is a natural occurring thing. To avoid entirely is impossible as a human being, however we can choose to limit its impact.

65 days sober, 110 miles walked since the turn of the year and lost two inches of my waist in the process. 30 years is enough on and off.

If you have trouble drinking tendencies, attempting to control your drinking is equal to playing with fire, most times it’s okay, but eventually you can get burned

I don‘t know. Without alcohol i get bad insomnia and my pain (chronic pain) comes back harder than ever. Longest i was able without a drink in the last years was a month but all things got worse. I even drink not that much but almost daily and it gets slightly more and more of course. So how to deal with this. I read all the things where people drinking much more for longer time and feel good after some days. Why i feel not better, even after a month? Maybe you have to really suffer more before you feel better without drinking? Maybe people who are drinking really very much just feel better when they stop. Or maybe it takes longer. Not sure but i feel lost.

It can take more than a month to feel significantly better, you hit the nail on the head with that part of your comment. It's sounds like your pain is an issue you need to address. Perhaps start eating better, exercise if you can. Stronger muscles could certainly help you deal with the chronic pain. Alcohol is only temporarily numbing your pain, it will come back worse after you sober up(It's a brutal cycle drinking). Just don't give up man.

Relapse is certainly part of the process with a lot of people. One of the keys is to never give up and don't view yourself as weak. I was 7 months sober, relapsed. But im on day three of sobriety right now. Im already feeling better.

@@dean6125 From my experience. the first night I relapsed after seven months sober I only had 2 or three drinks. I remember it being quite euphoric. But then the next day, two drinks didn't give me the same buzz. and it quickly devolved into me drinking anywhere form 6-16 drinks a night, really not even enjoying myself. Ive never been a social drinker when I partake, I do it by myself. Your right, it's not the same being sober. but I much prefer sobriety. Its simply better for one's health. another thing I noted is I used to suffer from Chronic cough. and after about a month of sobriety it finally went away.
