Ive been looking at home prices. I cant afford charleston itself, but im looking at summerville. Why is the suburbs for charleston way more than the suburbs of myrtle beach? you get more house for the money in say conway, sc

Here are reasons NOT to from a native: 1) Terrible Traffic, I mean real bad 2) Overpopulated and over built 3) They keep building with no additions to the roads to keep up with the population boom. 4) Summers are awful, super humid and super sticky. Imagine a sauna you can't get out of. 5) It's lost its charm. 6) Ridiculous housing prices in the nice areas like Mt. Pleasant for example. 7) Hurricanes 8) Not to mention we are overdue for a MONSTER earthquake 😊 9) Too much tourism, they flood the beaches and downtown areas making it impossible to get in and out. And it has gotten worse every year. 10) Pollen, if you're allergic, don't move here.

How big is the Charleston Area? Does it offer a big city vibe with southern charm? I’m relocating here from prince George’s county MD in about 60 days.

There’s really nothing “big city” about Charleston. No high rises in the city. It’s a southern coastal town with plenty of charm and history without the concrete jungle feel.
