Just picked up a physical copy of this for the Nintendo switch today. Watch this video on my way to pick it up which thank you for this and providing some additional details on it. Very excited to play it when I get home, love old-school Pokemon style games like this.

Make sure you update the game, as patches have since been released to fix major bugs, add qol improvements, and other things. It's a really fun game.

I got it when the physical version was on sale. I LOVE the breeding system and exploring the map. There is some small events you can trigger while exploring and some fun mini games. Oh and my favorite feature, a auction house where you can sell your monsters! Didn’t care for the main story tho; it wasn’t bad per say, just felt like the pacing was off and it needed to be longer to flesh out characters and the lore. Either way imo, I’d say it’s still worth it if you’re craving an old school monster collector. I’m looking forward to the DLC coming out. :D

There is another dungeon after the main story assuming you haven’t traveled to the other “region”. It doesn’t really have much more story and only served to confuse me more. To be fair tho, i played as “the hero” so it might make more sense if I went the other route. The game feels like it doesn’t want you to choose the hero route. 🤷‍♀️

@@faybell5063 I know that there's another area after the credits, but as far as what was being setup after the events at the modern town, last town, and castle, there should have been more to do between that and the final battle. You really just arrive, get into one battle, and the game rushes to the end. Played both routes, and it doesn't really fix that issue with the pacing imo. The game is definitely fun, I mean I have a 3rd run ready to go. But that sudden abrupt sequence of events was jarring. The post game story ending wasn't much consolation in that regard either, but the dev said he plans on exploring things further in the dlc I guess.

Oh really? That’s a shame, I was hoping it’d make more sense if I played the other route. Hopefully the DLC fixes it a bit then. Like you said, it’s still a fun experience regardless. I’m on my second playthrough myself. :3

The game looks great, been looking for a Monster Tamer on Xbox and picked up Nexomon 1 (the day before it went on sale feel free to thank me). My main issue is that Monster Crown is £26.99 which is a big price difference to its competitors on Xbox One. The more adult theme does seem really interesting to me though so who knows may pick it up!

Most of the bugs were fixed pretty quickly. Depending on where you played it. Switch delays updates quite a bit so that version had bugs for a bit but thats not the developers fault. Nintendo launched a previous version of the game that was less up to date and then take considerable time to push patches

one downfall i guess would be that any monster can have any stat, any typing, and any movepool. Which kinda makes it redundant when the only variation between all the mons in your team is the design/typing. This leaves little to no room for strategy and playmaking.

I'm going to have to do a randomized replay at some point. I also need to do some end game stuff on my main save. I played too much early access so I'm a bit burned out right now but I know I'll get back to it eventually. DLC may lure me back earlier. Right now I'm playing Legends Arceus.

@@lewissimmons2749 Monster crown is on steam, Switch, playstation 4 and xbox one when I checked their site. I've got it on steam so I can't answer patch update status for the consoles. A random run on Legends areceus would be awesome, I wish it were a thing! At least the massive mass outbreaks add an element of more surprise to each area as you never know what critters will show up out of their usual habitat. Then again, a legendary bidoof during the story sequences would have been quite funny.

@@lewissimmons2749 Ah, no worries. Pokemon Legends Arceus is only on the switch. Nintendo is not in the habit of allowing pokemon games on non Nintendo systems.

Just a fair warning the performance on the switch version leaves a lot to be desired. There's hitching while you're walking around which can be pretty distracting although it has been improved since launch

Just make sure you update the game as soon as you can and you should be good. A lot of the problems at the Switch's launch have been addressed for awhile now.

I was wondering about the online, games like Monster Sanctuary do have online but the q times make it actually literally unplayable (You can look for matches in the discord server but that's beside the point), I'm under the impression that a lot of these indie games won't work well online due to the somewhat lackluster volume of players, can someone confirm how true this is?

Iirc, I think matchmaking is done via codes, I don't remember there being random matchmaking when I played.

I haven't come back to this game since that time I went to a cave and had to find a clue to unlock the exit and the goddamn monsters just wouldn't stop coming. That they literally leap over impassable terrains is even more goddamn annoying.
