When I was just a little boy... I went through the dark tunnel with no flash. No flash. I did not know what flash was until my next Pokémon game. This might be my biggest flex. I traveled along the cave walls until I eventually got to the other side of the cave.... it was the most satisfying bright light or ladder I climbed ever. Those challenges of not doing things the right way made my Pokémon so effin strong. My cousin would rare candy all his Pokémon and I still beat him. I miss those Pokémon every single day. I lost them in my crystal game when I forgot it on a bus on my way to Texas. To this day it's one of my saddest moments. The bus hadn't Departed yet. I went inside to look for the game! I could not find it!! I miss you charizard and gengar! If you find a kido ash. That's me take care of my mon please.

@Jo Jo That's how most translations from Japanese feel like, to be honest Especially dub scripts. That's the main reason why every anime has this certain weird "vocabulary spice" to it that just doesn't feel natural. Professional translators aren't the kinds of people to "mediate" emotions and inflections in a way that makes sense in other languages, having known some of them. They're just one or two steps away from translating things word-by-word.

I like the statement “the older games aren’t any harder than the newer games like everyone says”. It feels like people confuse difficulty with grinding. If you fight a gym under level, it’s going to be hard. If you fight over leveled, it’s going to be easy. If you train you team to the same level as them, it becomes difficult but not impossible (even better if set mode is on)
@vindifference4 жыл бұрын
Specifically; the need to grind. Which is still a sound point. You can go through the older games without needing to grind to get to the necessary level, it just means you'll probably be carrying less pokemon to level up, and rely more on your wits in battle than just primarily type advantages. If you're the type to use the exp share in newer games and you run through the old games the same way you run through the newer ones, you end up even-levelled or under. Which doesn't necessarily mean you're outmatched, since your pokemon's EV's may very well make up for the level difference. There are also little things that can make the older games harder, like how certain pokemon are screwed by how the movesets, or lack of physical/special split affect them. Or the number of instances where you need to find a certain pokemon type in order to beat something that most of your pokemon can't. We can't take for granted how newer gens offer both quality of life and more options for your pokemon. But generally, yes, the more you find yourself needing to grind the more difficult the game evidently is, as grinding is merely a method of reducing the difficulty that was initially presented to you.
@fresh4families4 жыл бұрын
Hi, long time Pokefan here. I was 10 when I got Red and loved it. My niece who is 10 recently got let’s go eevee, she didn’t have a clue how to go about the elite four. Grinding in itself is part of the diffficulty, the fact you don’t even have to fight Pokemon to catch them significantly reduces difficulty. Sword and Shield are beyond easy, exp share by default, your rival being pathetically easy and the constant hand holding takes away from problem solving. Also, going into a long cave and fighting through and risking dying and starting all over again was certainly difficult. Compare Sword to Red and get back to me lol
@fresh4families4 жыл бұрын
I mean also, the fact the new games literally tell you what moves are super effective against pokemon should tell you all you need to know
@faze2alien4 жыл бұрын
@@fresh4families the problem with the “difficulty” of older games is entirely preparedness. As long as you have potions on you, you really shouldn’t risk dying half way through a cave route and restarting. And even then you don’t have to fight the same trainers you already fought, so it makes it easier on your second run through. The idea of difficulty in my opinions, is no matter how prepared you are, how good you are, you will still have a difficult time doing something. So the fact that I can simply buy a few hyper potions and get through a cave very easily, doesn’t make it harder. And claiming that grinding is apart of the difficulty, I mean sure you can see it that way but it’s not like grinding is hard either. If you fight most trainers and any wild encounters, 90% of the time you’ll be within a 5 level gap of the gym.
@fresh4families4 жыл бұрын
