Rachel oh no :( if one of mine has an accident IE hanging their butt off the ridge of the litter box and pees on the hardwood, even a teaspoon fills the house with the worst smell. So I feel ya but I am blessed mine use their box 99% of the time. Any reason why the one doesn’t like to use the box??

I'm so scared, now that I have the bunny I've wanted for so long.. I'm constantly scared and thinking about how it would be without her. I've grown so attached in the four days I've had her, and I truly love her. Rabbits are so kind and sweet. She's only four months old right now, but I can't even imagine how it's going to be when she's gone. I realized though, that instead of constantly worrying about when she'll be gone- I should just give her the best life. Because if you let that thought get to you, then you might forget to give your bunny the great life they deserve. Worry about the present, and not the future. Yes I agree, my bunnie that I had for seven years passed away recently, it’s been really hard on me. My mental state has gone down, and I keep having panic attacks. the only thing that keeps me going it’s the fun memories I have of her. Bunnies are the best creatures in the world and even though she only passed away two weeks ago I want another one so bad but I feel guilty that I want one so soon, I just feel like there’s a hole in my chest that needs to be filled. I hope you and your bun are doing great. Just focus on having great memories with her it will make it easier in the future.🥰🥰🥰

Great points, all. As a side note regarding medical care, they require a specially trained exotic vet which can be a little hard to find in some areas, and in an emergency situation after hours you can really find yourself in a dire spot. The local emergency vet here (15 minutes away) doesn't see rabbits - the closest is over an hour away. When you have a rabbit who is already in a bad way... You just have to try to think ahead more than you would with a cat or dog.

Mix some white vinegar with lemon or lime juice and spray the stuff you dont want the rabbit to chew. Give them lots of stuff to chew on. They like cottonwood branches and theyre less impact on their diet than apple wood sticks but they love those too. Most cardboard is safe and even the dyes are safer today. Remove any tape on the cardboard though.

Be able to recognize different people (when my boyfriend comes over he looks for food, when my mom goes up to him he lays down for pets, when I go up to him he starts batting at my fingers and rolling his ball) 6. Bunnies are a lot like an infant on easy mode, that is, they don't go to school, don't bully/get bullied, don't grow up do experience dramatic personality development or impairment, don't need to be taught social skills, job skills and the diet is always easier to keep in line etc. This isn't to degrade bunnies much more the opposite they're quite great parenting training, success in bonding and keeping a rabbit almost unsure you'll have almost no trouble caring for a baby till they're 5.

100% everything you said is so accurate. I got two bunnies for my grandsons I built a beautiful hutch condo two-story large for a patio space. I constantly worry about them constantly bringing them and if it’s too hot or too cold what a mess and they live to be 10 years like you said. I’m committed for the long haul because I decided to do this. But I wish I would’ve seen your video beforehand or done my research. Like I said I’m committed because I feel the same way in my heart about these little animals as you do they are so precious and they are so dependent on us. I’ve had her for 3 years now, and her destructive habits have calmed down a lot with her age and you just learn their habits and what they’re trying to tell you when they misbehave for example when my bunny gets hungry at night she choose on my bed frame which wakes me up and she knows that the second I get up when I hear that it’s to feed her.

We have 1 rabbit and his name is Pellet. He was the runt of the litter and is blind in one eye. He acts like a dog, he listens to you he follows you, he likes to cuddle with you when your sleeping. He's the best rabbit

Don't forget: - They chew anything and everything including pulling up carpet fibers and chewing cords. This can happen in a split second with one good chew & pull (they do this thing where they like to grab carpet with their teeth and yank it with all their strength). 1 chew of a cord is all it takes to completely destroy your electronic. - They can thump very loudly in the middle of the night. Some also like to dig loudly against the bottom of their litter box in the middle of the night. - Most of them litter train themselves easily, but they will usually still leave poops as they hop around, and once they reach maturity can spray urine through cage walls to mark their territory. I've owned several rabbits. Each had different habits and not every one of them did all these things, but all of them were trouble makers to put it lightly. They do not make good indoor pets.

I can't wait until I move into a bigger space, I have guinea pigs and I do nearly all of this for them too (Hay and fresh veg are a staple in my home), they sleep a lot during the day when they're not munching away on their Hay or pellets, the clean up is constant, they will make it clear if they don't want to cuddle and they bring so much joy to my life 🥰 they also chew anything and everything haha. I love my bunnies, they stay in my room all the time. The only reason I would consider getting rid of them is because they’re having a lot of trouble being potty trained. I would still never get rid of them though. Soon, I’m going to have to go to college, which I’m going to only have to spend one year on campus about 5 years from now. When that happens, I will give them to my step mom and who also has a bunny and plans to keep one of the babies my bunnies just had.

I go off to college in a few years, which is why I foster! I can sit for other fosters when they're out of town, the shelter provides all supplies and medical services. I can foster them for months at a time and care for bunnies without having to worry about some of the things on this list! Please PLEASE people, consider fostering before adopting if you dont have any rabbit experience. It's like a test run and if you get attached to your rabbit there is a big chance you will be placed on priority fro adopting said bunny.

Fostering is a wonderful option and greatly needed. My local shelter has amazing fosters who give the bunnies lots of love while waiting for adoption. Just be sure you find out exactly what they provide. My shelter provides medical care but NOT any food or supplies. Fostering is not free but it IS wonderful. I have 2 house bunnies and they are wonderful. So sweet and love each other. Plus they don’t mind the cat!
