@itemreceived22834 жыл бұрын
I went through the senior stage with my little boy for the first time in my life, from 5 till almost 8 years! At the beginning it was hard to accept the bunny body became thinner, the fur not so shiny anymore, he slept most of the day and at the end, he couldn't move anymore, I felt more like a nurse than a "friend" of my little boy! And sometimes it was really hard for me what to do, because I wasn't experienced and I hardly found informations on youtube or insta in how to treat and understand old bunnies! But what I've learned was: Your old bun needs a lot more rest, a quiet room and don't move his furniture to another places anymore. His jumps also aren't powerful anymore, so make sure to give him a toilet with a low entry. And my grandpa-bun became incontinent, I helped myself with diaper pads for human babies, it worked very well, you maybe have to change more than one time a day!!!! But I have to say, I loved him very much, he was an angel. So be aware, the time he gave you so much joy and happy days at the beginning, he/she needs you also that much the last 3rd of his lifetime but what it broke my heart was, at this stage you know each other the best. (sry for writing that much, I just wanted to share my personal experience, so if I could help I'm happy ^^)

Item Received thank you for your note. Yes, my baby girl is now 9 1/2 yrs. She’s sleeping much more. I am already doing the low-profile litter box as she was starting to pee somewhere else. @@Cobaltblueprism You're welcome : ) Wow this is the best thing that could happen: A healthy old bun-lady ^^ as long as she eats and drinks it's perfect : ) does she use the litter box? if you're considering giving your cage to someone with a smaller animal, here are some guidelines to what animal might be suitable for the cage you're giving away. -mice: mice should have 200 square inches for every 2 mice MINIMUM. (they NEED to be in pairs or groups.) the bar spacing also needs to be no bigger than 1/4 an inch or they'll be able to squeeze out. (if they're young and small this might even be too big) -hamsters: hamsters should be kept ALONE in at LEAST 450 square inches, that being the bare minimum and its unacceptable to go below that. if its a smaller hamster like a roborovski make sure the bar spacing is no bigger than 1/4 an inch, but for a large one, like a syrian, it can be a bit larger at 1/2 an inch. Also, make sure the base of the cage is deep enough to fit 4-6 inches of bedding to allow them to burrow. -gerbils: please dont give a bar cage to someone with gerbils! gerbils need to burrow so they need at least a 20/30 gallon long tank filled to the top with bedding, with a wire cage topper on top which you would buy separate. they shouldnt use wire bar cages because those dont allow deep enough bedding for them to make tunnels as they should be able to. -ferrets: ferrets need a tall, hefty, metal cage, and i mean TALL, like those big bird cages with vertical bars. do NOT give a short small cage to someone with a ferret. -rats: rats need a tall, hefty, metal cage, and i mean TALL, like those big bird cages with vertical bars. do NOT give a short small cage to someone with a rat. -guinea pigs: dont give your cage to someone with guinea pigs. for 2 they generally need 2x3 cnc grids tied together in a 2x4 to make a small pen and they dont even need a top on it, as they dont climb, but they need a lot of room because they're pretty large. (you can give old or unused cnc grids to a guinea owner!) sorry i don't know anything about chinchillas, sugar gliders, hedgehogs, or degus, as i havent owned or researched those.:)
@Swaggdub4 жыл бұрын
madison ramirez perfect! i own mice, hamster & ferrets! & this is perfect. it’s sad to see so many people still using those tiny rabbits/ guinea pig cages for ferrets (their not suitable for guineas or rabbits either)
@joeandmonicamorin4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the words right out of my mouth. There is one thing I would add, hamsters also need lots of room to burrow in at least 4-6 inches so they shouldn't be in bar cages either and most bar cages are much too small for ANY of these animals.
@mads77054 жыл бұрын
@@joeandmonicamorin of course!! i can edit my comment right now, how silly of me to forget. i also agree that most of them are wayyy to small, and thats why i made sure to include the amount of space they need because sometimes they're big enough (but thats rare)

@@Swaggdub sadly most 'small animal' cages arent suitable for any animal. theres something really messed up in the pet industry!
@blankabontovics70634 жыл бұрын
I don't know a lot about chinchillas either, but they need tall cages, like ferrets, and they need platforms they can hop onto, so a rabbit cage isn't suitable :(

My room is VERY clean right now it's the cleanest it's ever been, I'm 12 and I have had a bunny since I was 9. He was very poorly taken care of and I will admit that I am very ashamed of how he was treated. I am trying my best to slowly convert him to my room, it's not my house it's my parents house so I am doing what I can. Which means he cant roam the house but he can roam my room, he owns my closet and my closet is 24 square feet plus the running space of my room. Your videos are helping me soooo much. I'm following your room makeover guides and I have seen him binky for the first time in his life. No one will ever understand how excited I am about him moving into my room, and I have cried at the end of your videos with the home makeovers because it's just so awesome to see that the bunnies are going to have such a great home. And I want Hickory to have that too, so he now lives in my room, and I have hay and a litter box and I'm training him. I would love to say thank you very much because I would be nowhere with him right now if it weren't for you. This channel means the world to me and Hickory would still be locked up in a cage outside for the rest of his life if it weren't for you, you saved a bunny, again, thank you. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

So my bunny set up is sorta different. He has a cage, but I only put certain things in there, and a hidey house is attached to it (which he loves). But the cage is always open and he has access to a play area. Every morning I open up his play area so he can play around the whole room. But idk why he doesn't like to run around. He always either sleeps, or hops around a little bit, even in the evening toward night he's like that. Maybe it has do to with his age (he's turning 4 this month), but idk

My buns are 3 and they're just really lazy and laid back lol. It's probably just your rabbit's personality ! Some love to explore and take advantage of outside time, but some are just more reserved. My buns have a bedroom with an x-pen blocking the closet and door. When I'm home, I move it out of the door so it just blocks the closet but they can roam, but 90% of the time they just stay in their room or move into the living room carpet and sleep lol.

Later I found this channel on my youtube recommendations and I found all these tips and now my bunnies are free roamers and live a happy life! Thank you for everything Lorlaie and Lennon!

Also what’s sweet is one of my bunnies, Maddie, has a blanket she just LOVES and it’s still in great condition despite it being pretty old. We got it for her to cuddle with after she had her spay haha. She always honks at me when I take it out of her enclosure just to dust it down

Yes! (Unless it’s got ink or glue on it). You can even make them into toys by cutting little holes and stuffing with hay and treats! 🐰 also, here’s a game, cause why not?! lagged.com/play/2566/

I am interested in rabbits and guinea pigs and asked my mom questions to see what she would do if i got them. I asked what she thought the minimum cage for piggies and rabbits were. She said 3 feet for guinea pigs and 8 feet for rabbits🤦🏽♀️ she said thats minimum cuz thats what the pet store sells. Bruh minimum for guinea pigs are 8 feet and rabbits shouldnt even be in cages. She kind of understands now
@morganarrasmith48534 жыл бұрын
@Kait Minaj well for a rabbit pen should be at least 6x2 (12) feet and 10 feet for guinea pigs so no, their mom is not right at all
@katybeaver4 жыл бұрын
We have left the door open on our bunnies cage so he can free roam. He basically uses to the old cage for litter box and sometimes for sleeping. But I recently got the idea to just take the top off to encourage him to hop in and out more often and it seems to be working. It made me even happier to see this was Lenny approved!

My rabbit always pees on the hay when it’s not in a hay rack 😭 once I put the hay in a small box in front of her litter box and instead of eating the hay she jumped into the small box and peed there 🤔

Don’t worry the rabbit will pick out the good hay, just make sure to renew the hay everyday.
