The sadder thing about Candymans ending is Antony is the original baby from the first candyman so Helen’s sacrifice is all for nothing and Candyman wins.

Just a minor correction. It wasn't a few grams. The real bear had a couple of dozen kilos in his stomach after autopsy and died of a MASSIVE heart attack within about 30 feet of the bag.
@Bobbb-f3i
@Bobbb-f3i Жыл бұрын
The chief medical examiner from the Georgia State Crime Lab, Dr. Kenneth Alonso, stated that its stomach was "literally packed to the brim with cocaine", although he estimated the bear had absorbed only 3 to 4 grams into its bloodstream at the time of its death. This is from the examination of the real cocaine bear, maybe that's what he meant by a few grams, coke doesn't get into the system very quickly from stomach and the bear died pretty soon after, so yeah it's stomach was full but only a few grams was in its system

The funny thing is that black bears, in general, aren't very aggressive towards humans with the exception of cub protection. They're more likely to run or climb (expert climbers) away. They're fairly small compared to the brown and grizzly bears and prefer to avoid confrontation. Absolutely beautiful, I'm from Vancouver Island and we have a nice population of black bears, along with the "spirit bears", a fascinating mutation of the Kermode bear that allows them to have the colouring of polar bears from a specific salmon. But unless you're in dense forest and very quiet, you're not likely to see a black bear. I was lucky enough to see a few when mushroom foraging with my mom.

AGREED in the end she did nothing arguably *WRONG* (at least based on how she was "raised), research shows that violence and murderous urges are naturally part of being human, so that, the whole child aspect, and all the inbreeding and abuse is all she knows so all she wanted was to be a mother and care for her children, but gladly she was put out of her misery. just the way they wrote her to put a kiss to her "child"s head before being shot in the head by her when she was just so desperate to care for her honestly made me tear up. i just finished it and i had to rant to my friend about it, i had my hands to my mouth and tears in my eyes when the gun shot, really nice way to wrap up a movie with that plot though. i'm just glad they killed AJ 😂

Yeah for real. Having black leads definitely helps with further exploring the race angle and they did a good job at updating the issues addressed given that the conversation about race and class has changed since the 90s but to imply the original fails in that regard is wild. The setup of a fairly well-off white lead investigating a rundown, largely black housing project and the Candyman's backstory in the original did a great job at giving me, a white suburbanite kid at the time I first watched it, a jumping off point to learn more about systemic racism and poverty in general.

Shyamalan DID Shyamalan in Knock at the Cabin, but it was a MERCIFUL twist for the book readers only. In the book the film is based off, the young girl accidentally gets killed instead of one of the dads, and the book ends before you know for sure if the apocalypse was happening for real, or if her accidental killing was enough to stop it. He had mercy on us with his alternate ending.

@@patrickhill3294 Disagree heavily because the ultimate meaning of the book is Love means more then worship The novel's ending is calling out the Hypocrisy of a supposed loving god wanting a innocent couple to kill the other. Perchance you don't know too much about human biology? He's probably gonna have to have surgeries done to him by the end of his shortened, and lesser-quality life. He'll have to go through life, each day conscious and wary of all the horrible things that could go awry within his body, which will happen as he ages. Not if, just when exactly. It's not borderline MS group, ALS, glioblastoma, Münchmeyer, MSA or extreme case of schizophrenia, but considering his injuries, it should come pretty darn close. Add to that what someone well noted - he's gonna need the yearly budget of a rich middle eastern country just to pay his monthly bills.

I thought a MUCH better ending would’ve been if she ended the curse by going to the cabin, reconciling her guilt over not helping her mother, and then ended her life BEFORE the guy arrived. If nobody sees you die, the curse ends, so she would’ve saved him and any others AND it would’ve been a nice little “redemption” for her since she’s clearly carrying a lot of guilt.

Another point to consider about malignant; It’s a picture perfect ending. Her hugging her sister who Gabriel allegedly shot in the head moments before, her mother looking on happy. And then the light flickers just slightly. It’s completely possible that Gabriel has given her the illusion that she took control of him, only to have trapped her inside her mind once more, with her sister infact being dead along with their mother. Or as others mentioned, he’s still there and could come back. I doubt we will ever find out without a sequel, but Interesting to consider

Honestly, for Scream 6, I'll say that Sam has it much worse for 1 simple reason - allowing your bloodlust to take over, (even for extreme self-defense), is likely not be going to be understood by literally anyone that doesn't have any sort of bloodlust themselves, naturally. This means Tara will never fully understand her own sister by default. Sure, Chad will likely have life-altering injuries but physical therapy and/or surgery can minimize the problems from that, especially considering he didn't lose a limb. Plus, Chad's a college student, so recovery is a lot easier the younger you are. Once the bloodlust gets engaged enough, there's really no way to cage it up. That's something Sam is literally going to have to live with and may be likely, (considering she killed her boyfriend in Scream 5 before this movie even occurred), to potential engage in violent acts, as needed. That, plus, since there are a ton of Stab fan-boys, they will use the fact she killed an entire family one-by-one as a reason to social shame her, torture her via social media, and/or actually try to kill her and/or her loved ones. It's easy to twist the truth like a knife on social media, people. and people do that all the time to get others socially shamed alone, whether or not, they did anything wrong. Even if Sam gets away with things without seeing a courtroom in this movie, I expect this exact same sort of situation will happen and a bunch of Stab-freaks may target her again in a variety of ways. (BTW, Sam, I recommend, at least, getting a RING doorbell and a big dog. The RING to prove if someone breaks into your place to try to frame you for murder. The big dog to maul anyone that tries to enter your home in Ghost-face outfit. If you're not going to own guns, this seems like the legit minimum you can do as basic home-based self-defense.) Just saying here: bloodlust is bad enough, but Sam may have to literally eventually end up fulling a cemetery full of graves just to survive long-term and be able to have her sister survive too.

@@availanila tbh i think they couldnt win either way - especially as the main couple is gay. bury your gays is a very common trope, and a lot of people get paranoid even when the death isn't just to go "this character is punished for being gay".

The movie is based on a novel by Paul Tremblay (The Cabin at the End of the World) and, while Wen died, she didn't count as a sacrifice since she wasn't a purposeful/willing one. It ended with the couple choosing to face whatever comes together - leaving it unknown what happens when they leave the cabin.

For the love of all that is good I promise you that being disabled is not a fate worse than death (in reference to no 7). Living with PTSD is also not a fate worse than death. People are fully capable of living fulfilling lives after trauma, be it mental, physical, or both. The idea that death would be a kindness to disabled people comes from eugenics. Also, we aren’t “bound” to our wheelchairs unless we’re getting spicy. We’re using them. I’m over the channel. It used to be a cool way to find new horror movies but I can’t with the ableism.

I came to say this exact thing, and you've said it really well. I know they've used "wheelchair bound" before, and I've commented that is ableist language but they keep using it. And now saying that continuing to be disabled is worse than death? That's a pretty horrible statement, WhatCulture.

@@queenlucysroyalmaid1 Exactly. There are people in the world where that's their normal. Also, physical therapy and recovery is not a fate worse than death. I've had to do physical therapy from a young age because I have a lot of chronic pain conditions that I will have my entire life. One I was born with. Was I better off not being born if I was going to have to be in PT and be in pain 24/7? That just infuriates me.

So, yes, while your dopamine receptors are fried for a while and you feel very depressed, there's not actually any physical withdrawal symptoms from cocaine abuse. In fact, alcohol withdrawal is more dangerous than cocaine (as long as you weren't extremely depressed before) because alcohol withdrawal fucks with your heart and can cause seizures. Source: rehab, recovering alcoholic and you meet a lot of different addicts in rehab
