I just ordered one of those today from AMS, it was on sale for $718 so I snapped up a Cherry model. I also ordered a blank truss rod cover, a vintage Amber switch tip, and a Rhythm/Treble poker chip...although I found out a few hours later that it comes with one of those in the bag :/ I figured this guitar would be a sweet mod platform; I'd like to throw a Bare Knuckle War Pig 90 in the neck and relic it. I just hope it arrives in decent shape, I read a few horror stories in the review sections of some retailers.

My personal favs(not in order, because I love them all) 1. Thunderstruck 2. You Shook Me All Night Long 3. The Jack 4. Down Payment Blues 5. High Voltage 6. Hells Bells 7. Whole Lotta Rosie 8. Let There Be Rock 9. Moneytalks 10. Are You Ready (this riff is close to my heart, so underrated) I didn't include Highway to Hell and Back in Black, because they're overplayed and overrated and I'm just fed up with them.

What difference do you feel in the SG vs a LP? Never played an SG.
@ocassionaljunkieforyou6 жыл бұрын
Everything it's different, weight, tone, neck. Totaly different guitars
@DavidRFIT6 жыл бұрын
Totally different, as already said. SG has more "bite" and aggressive tone in the mids IMO, but doesn't have the huge sound of a good LP.
@kennynordieker56536 жыл бұрын
Less bass, more bite, lightet body, neck feels longer, bigger ability to bend
@WickedJester776 жыл бұрын
totally disagree. Sg is absolutely as massive sounding. if not more
@kennynordieker56536 жыл бұрын
John Gregory I think the tone of an SG is more likely to change than the tone of a LP when you use different Amps, pickups, pedals,....a Les paul sounds very massive on almost everything

Anything AC DC or sabbath needs sg guitar if you want to nail it exact because it's something to do with they noisey pick ups they have. There's a certain static or fuzz to the pick ups is why. I'm not quite sure why but it's cool with the SG Gibson series of guitars

Man that sg is growing and growing on me do you like it better than your les Paul? I have a strat I just wanted my next heavier guitar to have trem so I can get my evh on lol but this sg has me reconsidering thoughts everyone.., and is the epiphone sg special with only in tone n one volume week or legit? I like less knobs to mess with but then again I’m not getting a Gibson without block inlays either so might just stepcmy squier game up to fender Jackson or charvel or esp haha I want every guitar and amp ever made
@sepultura77716 жыл бұрын
Bruce Kelly my advice is don’t worry about name brands so much.Find the guitar with the “magic” .It might not be the one you expected.Two same guitar models can come off production line together and sound and play very differently.I have a Yamaha electric i love and wouldn’t trade it for any Les Paul for example
@brucelk196 жыл бұрын
sepultura7771 I agree I love my squier n how it plays n feels could use new pickups n tuners but I love it
@khoshekh56686 жыл бұрын
The main difference between a “high end” Epiphone and a “low end” Gibson is the headstock, so just keep that in mind. But yeah, buy what feels best.
@collingroat72866 жыл бұрын
Check out the Epiphone G-400 pro. I got mine for $300 or so. The $1500 Gibson SG felt a little better finished, but over all I felt didn’t play all that much better. Not worth 5 times the price. It’s a great SG if you’re looking for one.

GVF is like taking every cliche of every 60s-80s rock band and spreading them evenly through an album narrated by Robert Plant. It’s hardly new is my point
@jacobpetersen72196 жыл бұрын
I don’t care that they’re famous but they’re taking so much away from the real new wave of rock and it’s criminal, there are so many fresh bands in the revived garage scene or art rock wave with so many influences

I've got a Limited Edition SG that's 24 frets and a mini humbucker that I've had for 3 yrs but for some reason I've never bonded with it. I don't know if it's the 24 frets, mini pup or that it's so light or all of the above. I keep telling myself I'm gonna either sell or trade it but I find it hard to part with for some reason. Any advice?
@figgiesmalls17606 жыл бұрын
rayze 101 sell it.then Buy a korean made epiphone lp/sg. Theyre just as good, if not better, than a gibson and you would still have a lot of money leftover
@guitarmemoir6 жыл бұрын
In my opinion if you aren't playing it you might as well sell it and use the money to buy something that will inspire you to play more. I also feel if I am not playing one of my guitars, someone else should get a shot because they might love it. I got there because I bought a Les Paul that had barely been played despite going through 1/2 dozen owners in 10 years and it ended up being my #1. Just my 2 cents.
